"Dae, look at these," you call over your shoulder pawing through a dusty old box.
You sneeze as he approaches and reaches in to pull out a very old photo. He smiles at it and turns it over to show you.
"He kinda looks like you," you say reaching for the photo.
"I should hope so. He's my grandfather. I can't believe my mom still has all this stuff up here."
Daesung gestures to all the antique treasures in the attic. You grin broadly. You're in your element up here. You had convinced Dae to come explore in his parents' attic when you learned his mother had once collected antiques.
"Maybe she'll let us keep this one?" You ask him lifting an eyebrow.
He crinkles up his nose, "Is that what I'm going to look like when I'm old?"
You chuckle, "I hope so, he's cute," you wink and move on to another box.
The two of you wrap it up and go back downstairs to have dinner with Dae's family. You have a nice time, and his mom lets the two of you take the old photo home.
You're both pretty tired after spending the day with Daesung's family. You crawl into bed while Dae is in the bathroom still getting ready. Your eyes slide shut until...you hear a whisper in your ear. You roll over to ask Daesung what he said, but he's not there. Thinking you are just super tired you roll back over, and feel Dae slide into bed next to you. He wraps his arms around you, and you both start to drift off. You fall asleep only to have Daesung wake you up.
"What? What did you want?" He asks you.
You blink awake, "What?"
"You were patting my shoulder and whispering. Are you ok? Did you need something?" He asks stroking your hair from your face.
You just look at him, then, "What do you mean? I was asleep you woke me up."
"No I didn't you woke me up," he says looking confused.
You sigh and give him a quick kiss, "You were dreaming go back to sleep."
He settles back in with a confused expression. However, his confusion quickly relaxes back into sleep. You smile at his childlike face and ease back into sleep yourself. Before you fully drift off you feel the bed shake a bit. You think nothing of it, and assume Dae is just being restless. You are restless yourself. You toss and turn, eventually opening your eyes to peer into the darkness. You know nothing is there. However, you can't shake the feeling that you're being watched. You close your eyes again, trying to switch your brain off with all your might. You heave a sigh, and open your eyes again. This time, there's a face looking back at you just inches from yours. It's a man, oddly like Daesung, only much older. You scramble back from the face. You are so terrified you can't even scream. You push Dae off the bed with a thump just as he's jarred awake by the scream that finally erupts from you.
"What?! What the Hell is wrong?!" Daesung asks in a confused and groggy panic.
You reach over and flip on the lights. The face is gone just as quickly as it had appeared. You blink as Daesung climbs out of the floor and back onto the bed. You're wide eyed as he turns you to face him.
"Why did you scream?! You scared me to death!" He snaps his fingers in front of your eyes. "Hey!"
You blink and lock eyes with Dae, "Someone is in the house," you say in a whisper.
"What?"
You sigh heavily now fully alert, "Some old guy is in the house! He was this freaking close to my face!" You lean into Dae's face and he leans back away.
You both straighten back up and Daesung heaves a sigh and gets off the bed.
"Where are you going?"
He turns at the doorway to tell you, "I'm going to check the house. Alright?"
"What if you get hurt?"
He gives you a really face, "You said it was an old man. You honestly think I'll get hurt by an old man? Besides, you were probably dreaming. You know I have security precautions in place." He turns and walks out the door.
You hear him downstairs walking around and opening and closing doors. When he comes back he shrugs and climbs back into bed.
"There's nobody here but us," he wraps his arms around your waist and pulls you back down into bed. "Now go to sleep. Stop dreaming of other men," he kisses your temple and chuckles at his joke.
You huff. You know what you saw. You try to go back to sleep. Dae drifts off quickly again, and you scoot out from his arms and out of bed. You go to the bathroom, and as you come out... there he is.
You gasp, but it hits you. This old man looks just like the photo you brought home. It only lasts a minute, but it feels like much longer. He just stares at you while you stare back. He slowly lifts his hand, smiles, and disappears just as quickly as he arrived. You stand there for a moment mouth agape. Then you manage to realize you've just seen a ghost. He wasn't scary. He didn't hurt you. In fact, it was rather peaceful. Kind of like... he just wanted to say hello. So you decide to say hello back...
You whisper into the half dark hallway, "Hello, Daesung's grandfather. I mean Grandpa Kang, I love your grandson."
You roll your eyes at yourself as you walk back to your bedroom, but decide to finish talking to him anyway. It couldn't hurt right.
"I don't mind if you stay here, but please don't scare me or let me see you ok? You're gonna freak me out."
You get back to bed feeling ridiculous and like you need the psych ward. You snuggle back into bed.
You mumble to yourself, "I've been watching to much Spernatural."
You chuckle to yourself and snort, "Where's Sam and Dean when you need them?"
You nudge a softly snoring Daesung with your foot. He doesn't even stir.
You let your eyes slide shut, "Definitely not a Winchester."
You finally drift off to sleep and have a weird dream about having a beer with Sam, Dean, and Grandpa Kang.
