You twirl the top hat on the end of your finger. The bench is hard and cold beneath you. You've come back every evening for two months just hoping to see Ji again. That's his name right? It wasn't a dream was it? You frown, then look down at the top hat in your hand. If it was a dream, would you have this? Your frown melts off with a sigh as you place the memento on your head like a crown. The early spring evening is a bit chilly and you hug your arms around yourself. You close your eyes and whisper, "Ji," into the breeze. As tenderly as a lover, a breeze caresses your face, then quickly picks up. You feel the hat lift from your head and your eyes pop open in alarm. You grab the top of your head as you see your treasured souvenir tumbling along the ground. You quickly go clambering after it, but it's moving fast. You give chase until you stop with a thump into someone. There are very shiny shoes under the hat with slender legs attached to them. You sharply inhale and stand up only to be eye to eye with Ji.

He picks up the hat with a flourish and a grin.

"Oh there you are!" He taps the brim.
He places it on his head with a giggle.
"Where have you been you naughty thing!"

He smiles at you as you stare. You've come here every evening, but you never really believed you would see him again. Now, here he is as fantastic as ever.

"Hello," he bows, "thank you for keeping this safe for me." He bites his lip and gestures to his head.

You blush hard and look down to your feet. He bobs his head into your line of sight and you jump.

"Hey I'm up here! Not on your toes," he chuckles straightening himself up when you look up.

"Do you," you begin timidly, "do you remember me?"

"Of course! We danced in the dusk light to a symphony," he mimics playing a violin and you giggle.

"Ah, there's a laugh. I knew it was trapped in there somewhere," he winks offering his arm.

You tuck a strand of hair behind your ear and take the arm he offers. He starts to lead you back to where your bench was only, the bench is gone. Instead of a bench there is...

"A carousel!" You light up.

"For you," he nods toward the ride, "to thank you for caring for my hat for me."

You smile up at him like a little kid and he taps your nose, "Get on."

You slowly walk toward it and he nudges you along, "Go on."

You climb on a sky blue horse and lovingly place your hands on the pole.

"Good choice," he grins and twists his huge ring.

The carousel starts to move and you smile at him. He twist his ring again and a large mushroom grows from the ground. He climbs on to watch you enjoying yourself...

You wave to him when you pass the first time, but the second time you crook your finger at him beckoning Ji to join you. He blushes and hops on. He places one slender hand on the small of your back and the other on the pole. Before you know it he nimbly vaults himself until he's sitting behind you.

Leaning in close he whispers, "Where should we go?"

You smile and look over your shoulder at him, "Where ever you are. That's where I want to be."

"Hang on then," he says. He bites his lip and puts his arms around you. He puts his hands over yours on the pole. The horse lifts off of the platform and you gasp.

"Where are we going?" You ask, not really caring. You lean back against his chest as the horse starts to spread its newly sprouted wings.

"To my home," he smiles, "you'll like it there. It's always warm, and you can stay as long as you like."

You drop your head to his shoulder to look up into his eyes, "Can I stay with you forever?"

"I would love nothing better," he whispers against your lips as the horse takes flight.
