Laying in bed staring at the ceiling, Seungri's mind is churning. He heaves a heavy sigh. He knows the phone call that's coming. He's both dreading and looking forward to hearing from his leader and hyung, Ji Yong. He knows he should've told him first. He knows this could hurt him. He hopes with all his heart that it doesn't. He really doesn't want to be a cause of regret. What can he do? This is what his heart wants after all. Should he stay lonely?
Buzz buzz buzz
Seungri's phone lights up and vibrates to life. He looks over at it on his night stand. He knows exactly who it is.
"Here we go," he says into the half darkness.
"Yeoboseyo?"
"Hey, it's me," Ji Yong replies.
Seungri clears his throat a bit and sits up in bed. He leans back against his headboard, "Yeah, I know hyung."
"So...how are you?"
Seungri fiddles with his fingers, "I'm ok. Work is going well. Everything is good."
"That's good, that's good," Ji Yong takes a deep breath. "So, I see you have a girlfriend. Is that right?"
Seungri braces himself, "Yeah. This time the news got it right I guess."
"Oh," is Ji's only reply.
There's a brief awkward silence. Finally, Ji Yong asks, "Do you ever think about..." he pauses, "do you ever think about our younger days when we used to practice?"
"Of course," he says his face taking on a softer expression. "We were so inexperienced and sheltered. Who else would we turn to but each other?"
He hears the smile in Ji Yong's voice when he answers, "If our world was different Nyongtory could've been real."
Seungri chuckles, "Yeah. Maybe in our next life it can be."
Ji Yong gives a small laugh. Then nervously asks, "Are you happy?"
Seungri smiles, "I am. I really am."
"Then I'm happy too," Ji Yong says softly, and just like that it was all the blessing Seungri needed.
The worry rolls off of Seungri's shoulders and a tear rolls from his eye. He smiles even broader. "Thanks. I really miss you,"he says.
"I miss you too. Tell my new sister in law I'll meet her when I can," Ji teases.
Seungri snickers, "Don't get ahead of me. We're just dating."
"Arasso. I gotta get back now. I love you."
"I love you too," Seungri smiles and hangs up.
Seungri snuggles back into bed. His mind is finally at peace, and his heart is calm. Nyongtory will always be real to them. Just...in a new way.
