What Kovu saw before him was immensely shocking. A lioness with aqua blue eyes and golden fur was cornered by six vicious hyenas. The lioness's face was blocked but Kovu knew who it was by just looking.
"Hey leave her alone!" he shouted at the snapping dogs. One hyena who was clearly the leader, turned to face Kovu.
"Well, well," it snarled.
"Look who it is. Zira's baby boy,"
Kovu recognized the voice and smiled.
"Hello Chuki, long time no see,"
The hyena chuckled.
"I just came here in pursuit of a long awaited enemy of mine," he said, referring to the cornered lioness. Since Kovu was outnumbered, he didn't want to start a fight which would obviously end fatally. So he tried a different approach. "Hear what. I'll make a deal with you. If you come back later, I can tell Vitani and Marisa that you stopped by and the four of us can work out a little agreement. Deal?"he asked.
Chuki considered the offer and finally came to a decision.
"Deal, Kovu," he said before departing.
When the clan of hyenas were out of sight, Kovu walked over to the lioness and addressed her. "Did you miss me Cindy?"he asked sternly.
The lioness whose name was Cindy, swallowed hard and stood up to face Kovu.
"Hello Kovu. Long time no see," she said in a small voice.
Instead of conversing further with her, Kovu turned around and started to walk back to Pride Rock. "Wait Kovu! Please stop. I want to talk to you," cried Cindy hurrying after Kovu who was walking briskly away.
"I want to talk to you, can you please stop and listen to me?"she pleaded.
Kovu still didn't stop.
"Please stop Kovu. I need to talk to you about our cub!"
