Blood lust

Chapter 21

        We pull up to a large rusted black gate. The building ahead looms over a grassy area, casting an evil shadow. "This is the academy" Eric says. I notice gas lanterns burning in several different places in the dark. I notice Alex sitting toward the window with his back towards me. I see clusters of teenagers walking as we drive towards a parking lot. A few of them stop and watch us drive by. When the car parks, I unfasten my seat belt and step out. A group of three guys walk over to Alex immediately.

"Yo dude I missed you!" One of them says. Eric opens the trunk of the car.

"Alex help us carry all of this to her room" He says. Alex sighs.

"I'll see you guys later. I have to be a fucking slave for a bit" He says. They laugh and walk away. Alex grabs three boxes and heads towards the building. I grab two and Eric grabs three, leaving the car empty. I follow him to the large building and once we're inside he leads me down a long hallway. We go up three flights of stairs, and walk down another hallway, this one with a few doors. We stop and the door at the end of the hall is opened. I step in, followed by Eric, and Alex. I set the boxes down and see two girls standing in front  of me.

"Hey, you must be our new roommate!" The red head exclaims. I smile and nod.

"Yeah, I am." I turn to Alex and Eric. "Thanks for the help" I say.

"Anytime. Come by my office later" Eric says, and I nod.

"See ya around" Alex says, exiting after Eric.

"I'm Kate" I say, smiling.

"I'm Annabeth" The brunette girl, with long curly hair and big eyes says.

"And I'm Rachel" The red head with green eyes, and a short stature says.

"Nice to meet you guys." I smile.

"Same to you!" Rachel says.

"Yeah" Annabeth echos.

"Anna doesn't talk much, just so you know. Don't be offended" Rachel laughs. "What's your affinity?" She asks.

"Um.. death" I say casually, showing her my rose.

"No fucking way" Annabeth gasps.

"Yeah.. what's your's?" I ask them. Rachel lifts her hand, showing a small droplet of water.

"Beauty" she smiles. Annabeth raises her hand and shows a small magnifying glass.

"Knowledge is mine." She smiles.

"Are you hungry? The cafeteria is open 24/7, we could take you there?" Rachel offers.

"Sure, that'd be great" I smile.

"We'll get you unpacked when we come back" she says, leading me out the door. We walk down a corridor, many people openly staring at Rachel. We turn, and walk down a wide dimly lit hallway, with two oak doors at the end. They open into what seems to be the cafeteria. Rachel and Annabeth direct me to a line. I grab a tray and we slowly move forward. I grab a bowl of caesar salad, a plate of fries, and a bowl of soup. As Annabeth walks us to a table I see Alex sitting with a bunch of guys. He glances my way, smirk for a second and then turns back to his friends. We sit down and I eat begin to pick at my fries.

"Do you know your classes?" Annabeth asks me.

"No, I have to meet with Eric tomorrow to figure that out." She nods.

"I'm in advanced casting, weapon training, and ritual performance. I hope you find some good classes" she smiles.

"Thank you" I smile, starting on my soup. When I finish that and my salad I excuse myself.

"You know how to get back?" Rachel asks.

"Yeah. Bye guys, thank you." I smile, starting down the hall.
