Chapter 3

I wake up and literally drag myself out of bed. I stand up, and walk into my bathroom. I curl my hair, into big curls, and hair spray it. I apply some coverup, eyeliner and mascara, and walk back into my room. I put on a black ruffle shirt, and black skinny jeans. It's raining again so I pull on some water resistant, heel boots, that were awesome to find since it rains a lot here. I walk downstairs and sit with my mom at the table since I had time. "Hey sweetie" my mom says. "Hey mom" I say hugging her. "How's Tanya?" She asks. "Is she still dating that one boy... Hmm" "Eric?" I ask her. "Yeah him" "no they broke up last week" I inform her. "Oh, well honestly that's good" my mom laughs "he was bad news" I nod in agreement. My mom is 36, and a single mother. My dad walked out before I was born. He only wanted a son, and when they found out I was a girl he just left. Yeah it hurt but I got through it, plus Aron is here, and he's the only boy I need in my life. "Well you should get going" my mom says. "Okay momma, bye I love you" I say getting up, and grabbing my keys. I drive my usual ten minute route to school and park beside Tanya. "Hey" she says, when I step out of my car. "Hey" I smile "I wish this rain would let up! It's so bad for my hair" she huffs. I laugh "oh Tanya, lets go drama queen" I say walking into the school. I walk to my locker and grab all my books that I'll need. I make my way to class and sit in my usual spot. I'm happy we're a small class because I don't have to share a table. "Okay class, we have a new student coming today" my teacher Mrs. West announces. My breathing stops as I see the boy from yesterday walk in. "Class this is Alex" my teacher announces. Alex. That's the mystery boys name. "Why don't you sit beside... Hm Kate!" My breathing stops again, as I hear my teacher call my name. Alex smirks and sits beside me. "What are the odds" he whispers in my ear as he sits down. The teacher goes on about something, but I'm too focused on the boy beside me to pay attention. "Kate?" My teacher calls on me. My face reddens a bit. "Uh" I say. "You should pay attention to me not Alex" my teacher says, causing my face to redden more. I can already tell he's smirking. I try to sink into my seat, while I wait for this class to be over. In my next two classes, I was thrilled (not really) to find out Alex was in them too. At lunch I follow him to his locker. "Alex!" I call grabbing his shoulder. He turns around, looking... angry? "What?" He hisses. "What you just get put in three of my classes for no reason and then get ma at me?" I say. "I didn't get mad at you" he says his expression softening. "Whatever never mind." I say turning away. "Kate!" He calls behind me, but I keep walking. I reach my locker, and sit on the floor. Yeah I know that it may seem stupid to be upset about a guy I don't know, but the fact that my dad left really hurt, and the only guy I'm comfortable with is Aron. "Kate what's wrong?" Tanya says sitting beside me. "Nothing" I force out. "Kate" she presses. "That guy, Alex! He runs away yesterday, gets put in three of my classes, and then has the nerve to seem pissed at me?!" I say looking at my best friend. "Look I don't know what happened, but you need to let him go he's bad news I'm telling you!" She try's to convince me. "Whatever" I mutter walking into the cafeteria. After lunch I go into science, and I'm thrilled when Alex doesn't show up. I got to home ec and he wasn't in that one either. Although, when I got to humanity's, I found him, in the spot next to mine. "Okay class!" My teacher Mr.Evans starts clapping his hands together. "Today I am assigning you a project, that will involve socializing" he says. Some people woo but I just sit still. "You need to get to know the person who sits with you''
