Evan P.O.V.

"DAD!" I called out as I walked into his house.

I used the spare key I knew that was hidden near the front door.

After leaving the courthouse I came straight to my parents house. I needed to speak with my father and find out why he sold off his shares to the Livingston family.

"DAD!" I called out again as I walked through the house.

I went back to my father's home office and opened the door. My father was finishing up a call before he acknowledged me.

My father ended his call then stood up and spoke to me.

"Evan why are you just barging into my house yelling!" my father said.

"Why did you sell the majority shares in the company to the Livingston's?" I asked.

"Oh is that why you're so upset," my father said as if I was overreacting.

"Well yeah dad! I don't have a job now," I said.

"Well sorry I made a smart move to protect your mother and I for the remainder of our lives. Look Evan you're the one that went chasing after that woman then got caught up with her friend. I had to move fast. A scandal like the one you're involved in can break a company!" my father scolded.

"What do you mean "that woman"? Are you talking about Jasmine?" I asked slightly offended.

I didn't even care about the lack of faith my father had in me regarding my court case. I was now more concerned with the lack of acceptance it seemed he had for my relationship with Jasmine.

His tone when saying "that woman" just seemed disapproving.

"Who else would I be referring to? I swear I thought you'd snap out of it but you haven't and clearly never will. So I have washed my hands of it. The company is no longer a family responsibility," my father said.

"What are you talking about you thought I'd snap out of it?" I asked still confused.

"Evan you have made your life choices. So..." my father said.

"Dad do you not approve of Jasmine is that what this stems from?" I asked.

I didn't want to ask my father such a question but he has never been as accepting or warm towards Jasmine like my mom has.

"You want the truth? Can you handle the truth Evan?" my father asked as he walked over to pour himself a drink.

"Yes I want the truth!" I said.

"Jasmine isn't good enough for you and she never has been," my father said boldly.

I was caught off guard by my father's admission.

He thought Jasmine wasn't good enough for me.

"Why do you feel she isn't good enough for me?" I asked.

"She's a typical black girl. Uneducated, having children out of wedlock like it's a hobby, relying on a check from a man or the government to support her," my father said distastefully.

"Dad!" I said shocked by his clear stereotypical views.

"What! You tell me what that girl has had going for her since you got with her? All I know of her is being unemployed and that's before you stupidly impregnated her!" my father said.

I was shocked. This was how my father really felt about the love of my life.

"I still remember the first time you brought her over. She seemed so in awe of this lifestyle. Then slowly you try to figure out what the girl wants to do in life and we see it's been a whole lot of nothing. The only thing she seems to be skilled at is laying on her back for you and spreading her legs wide to birth children that are money bags to her," my father continued full of distaste.
