Ashton: You had just gotten home from tour with Ashton, and you were both exhausted. Celebrations were had all around at the fact that Take Me Home Tour, not to mention 5SOS’s first world tour, were now over and now you finally got to go home. You were glad you got to experience being on the road with Ashton, but being home made you feel a lot better now that Baby Liam was getting closer and closer. Now that you were home and the tour craziness was over, you could focus on bigger baby things. After Ashton’s usual post tour coma (where he didn’t leave bed for a few days unless necessary) you decided that it was time to get down to the first matter of business: putting together Baby Liam’s nursery. You didn’t have the slightest idea about how you were going to go about it, and so far all you had was a cleared room that Ashton’s family had been kind enough to clean out while the two of you were gone on tour. You walked into the empty room one morning while Ashton was still asleep with your hand on resting on the top of your belly. You looked around, and out the windows, grateful that you had a good room for him. You thought about possible themes, but didn’t know if Ashton had any so you let your mind wander. Minutes later, you felt a pair of arms wrap around your torso and rest on top of your hand on your belly.
“What are you doing in here babe?” Ashton said sleepily into your ear. “We need to get started on his room Ash, he’s going to be here before we know it.” You worried a little bit, you knew some couples waited until the last minute and you didn’t want to be one of those couples. “Let’s get started today then. I was thinking about a theme though, while in my post tour coma.” You turned around to look at him, raising an eyebrow. Usually you came up with the ideas first. “What is it?” “Peter Pan. All about reaching for your dreams and believing in something, just like how I was raised.” You smiled, realizing that Ashton must have put a lot of thought into it. “I love that idea Ash, it’s perfect for Liam.” You didn’t want to waste another minute, already having some things like his crib and a few other things at home, but needed to get paint and such. You returned hours later from various stores, Ashton carrying everything inside. You were ready to get Liam’s nursery finished. Ashton didn’t like you putting too much strain on yourself, so you watched him do all the heavy lifting. After the walls were painted your two favorite colors, green and blue, you were finally able to help move in all the furniture.
The bedding and animals that were going in his crib were courtesy of Ann and you loved them. The changing table you had was gorgeous, and you set all the various supplies in it while Ashton brought in the cushioned rocking chair the two of you fell in love with. You were pretty sure you had enough newborn diapers for an army, but it was better to be prepared then sorry. It was well late into the night by the time you and Ashton were putting things on the walls, but it didn’t seem like either of you were tired. One one wall you put a piece of framed artwork, one that Ann had in Ashton’s room when he was a baby that said “I love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.” and every time you read it you almost cried. “My mum didn’t tell me she gave you that. Holy shit I haven’t seen that in years…” “She told me you would like it for our first son, just like she had it for you.” You saw Ashton trying to hold back tears. You stood back with Ashton and admired your work. “I think we did a pretty good job Mr. Irwin!” “Wait a second, its not finished yet!” Ashton dashed from the room, making you insanely confused. You sat down in the rocking chair, unable to handle standing up after working all day. Moments later Ashton came running back in, an unidentifiable object in his hand. He stuck two push pins up on the wall, with one in his hand still remaining. He placed a drumstick on the wall and turned to look at you. “That’s one of the drumsticks I used from the show the night we found out Liam was a boy, I’ve been saving it all this time.” He then tacked the “Pick Your Team” sign you had used. “Okay, now its finished.” Ashton picked you up and set you on his lap so the two of you could sit on the rocking chair together. You sat there and admired your work with Ashton, not taking your eyes off the drumstick. “You know what? I think Liam is going to love it. He’ll be just like his Daddy.”
