Allura sat in the main deck with her knees pulled to her chest tightly with her arms to secure them there, her breathing was soft as she stared at the stars ahead of her. They wanted to stay near the planet Rotazik for safety, tomorrow they would land to help the Rota people, rebuild their homes, get them food, help the injured. Including lance.
It's been hours since he's been in the pod but it felt like centuries... but they knew what was going to to happen, at least Allura and Shiro did after coran broke the news.
Lance was going to come out of that pod blind.
Another tear ran down her face as she held the sides of her head, she whimpered softly at the thought, at the fact of her paladin, her friend that's going to suffer. Lance was still young, they just celebrated his 18th birthday a month ago, he just became what earth considers a true adult.
A hand set gently on her shoulder an Allura sniffles wiping her tears quickly as she saw coran with a soft look.
"Ah coran, um is lance out of the healing pods?" She stood up quickly rubbing her face.
"No, number five and number three are with him though," coran told her with a gentle voice. She looked at him confused.
"Pidge and hunk," he chuckled a little but Allura looked away as she brought up a light colored screen to focus on rather than grieving.
"I wanted to check on you princess," coran sighed as he could clearly see the tear stains and the redness in her eyes.
"Have you eaten yet?" He asked.
"I'm fine coran," she looked down frowning.
"I know I'm not your father... but I've been there since you were born, I've seen you grow into a woman, a leader, but I've always been there when you needed a shoulder to cry on," he smiled at her as Allura looked at him with tears in her eyes.
He was there for when her mother passed away when she was young, when her father was making her upset and had no one to talk to, it was coran who was like a second father. She covered her mouth muffling a sob and coran pulled her into an embrace as she held onto her only Altean family left.
"This wasn't suppose to happen," she whispered into his shoulder.
"None of us knew, there was nothing we could've done," coran brushed her hair softly with his gloved fingers as she tightened her grip.
"We should've formed Voltron," she cried a little more.
"Lance saved lives because he was on the ground, your Paladins saved another planet," coran whispered into her hair as she sobbed quietly.
"I just-I just wish there was something I could've done," she snuggled pulling away.
"Lance will need all of us, support, our love, our help, he's going to be scared and upset, but he'll be alive," coran held her hands gently with a calm smile.
"You're... youre right, thank you coran," she wiped her face again as she still felt guilt but she took a deep breath to be the leader that everyone needed.
"Anytime princess," he nodded with a kind smile.
Suddenly they saw a signal pop up as it showed the galra were near, they were coming for them...
"No, no not again," Allura gasped with wide eyes. But they weren't just going to attack, she saw that they wanted to speak to her as well... there was a symbol of the galra in the middle of the screen for them to speak. She touched the screen to answer.
"Zarkon," Allura snarled as the screen was static but it cleared into a image of someone else. She didn't recognize the man at first but there was something familiar about him.
"My apologies for the high hopes, Princess Allura, but I am not zarkon," his voice had a similar accent to alluras as it was more proper and controlled to be calm. He had sharp facial structure with lilac skin and dark violet eyes over yellow, his white hair was long as it continued out of the screens range down his back.
"Then who are you galra?" She glared. There was no time for bargaining.
"Please, call me prince Lotor, zarkons first and only child," he said with a serious expression looking at her. Allura felt her heart stop.
"Zarkon has a child..." she breathed.
"What do you want?" Allura hissed.
"My father lays on his death bed as your black paladin returns to you," Lotor said calmly as he narrowed his eyes a little.
"Your not getting Shiro back," Allura crossed her arms just as the black paladin entered the room.
"Lance should be awake any moment Allura," Shiro said slowly as he saw the galra prince. "What do the galra want?"
"An alliance," Lotor spoke before Allura could.
"What?!"
"I do not seek for the champion to return as our prisoner, I should be thanking you Paladins for putting my father out of place of his throne, a chance for me to fix his mistakes, a chance to save my people from more bloodshed," Lotor told them softly with remorse as the three looked at him with shock.
"Why should we trust you if your zarkons son?" Allura glared.
"Because like you, i want peace, there will be trials and challenges to reach true peace but I believe we will be able to accomplish it by taking the first step, allying ourselves to each other," Lotor let a small smile pick up of the corner of his lips.
"Allura lance is awake," Pidge ran in with wide eyes. They turned to her as Lotor looked at Allura to see her answer.
"We will discuss this further more, for now, stay exactly where you are and away from planet Rotazik until we speak again," Allura said with no kindness and ended the call.
"What was that all about?" Pidge asked wide eyes of the galra that was once on the screen.
"Something we'll discuss tomorrow, but for now, we need to focus on lance," she smiled st the smallest paladin and they walked to the healing pods.
"How is lance doing already?" Allura asked as they all followed.
"Ummmm..." Pidge gulped nervously.
