•Ten minutes earlier•
Pidge tapped her fingers against the keys of her laptop as Hunk was just standing in front of lances pod with worried eyes seeing the scars that where healing into light pink fresh skin across his eyes.
"He's not going to come out sooner if you stare harder," Keith walked in, he had clean clothes on from after being in the pod before and took a shower to rinse off the dry blood over his healed wounds.
"I thought the pod wouldn't leave scars," hunk sighed as Pidge paused.
"He has scars?" She stood up now concerned.
"They're not looking good, he should be out any minute, and the scars aren't going away," Hunk tapped his foot nervously as his arms where crossed.
"It might've been to late for the scars to go away, the injuries took to long," Keith sighed.
"Don't say it like that," hunk said harshly at him. "Don't say it like that please,"
"We both know what's going to happen, coran doesn't need to tell us to know," Keith crossed his arms but hunk pushed him away.
"Don't say it!" Hunk raised his voice as the two paladin where surprised by the outburst.
"Hunk he's right... the injuries are clear that-" "shut up! Don't you dare say it or-or I swear to god!" Hunk had angry tears in his eyes.
"Hunk Lance is going to be blind when he comes out of there," Keith whispered with concerned eyes but hunk bumped into him almost knocking Keith down but hunk went to the wall, leaning against it as tears ran down his face.
"He's going to be okay! Lance is always okay!" Hunk yelled with his forearms against the wall not looking at the other.
"He has to be okay, he has to see," he whispered looking down at the ground. They heard a soft gasp from behind and saw lance step out but his legs went limp, only for Pidge to catch him but she laid him on the ground as she couldn't hold him.
"Hey hey, lance you okay?" Hunk ran over as he coughed with his eyes tightly closed.
"What happened?" Lance slowly opened his eyes. Hunk covered his mouth as Pidge looked away in pain as well as Keith. Lances eyes were paler shade of blue, no longer like the deep blue ocean but instead it was like the top of the waters. Hunk couldn't help but cry as lance lost the same color eyes he shared with his sister, brother and mother, his family's blue eyes. They where gone.
"G-guys?" Lance sat up as he tried to look around. "H-hey who turned out the light?" He tried to laugh but fear was overruling his voice.
"Lance um... what do you remember?" Keith knelt down to him and gently grabbed his hands as hunk had to walk away.
"I'll go get Allura," Pidge whispered.
"Keith? Keith what the fuck is going on? Come on man this isn't funny," lances paler eyes looked straight at him but he couldn't see Keiths dreading face.
"What do you remember?" Keith asked more sternly to try getting to the point.
"Th-there was something on my helmet, it was beeping, then the galra dropped the bombs and I fell into the water... I-I tried getting my helmet off as the beeping was getting faster and then... just darkness," lance squeezed his hands tightly around Keiths.
"The explosion... my-my eyes," Lance slowly reached for his face and his fingertips traced over the shards of glass that left scars across his face. It was more on his right side as it faded to the left.
"Yea, your eyes," Keith sighed.
"K-Keith my eyes! My eyes aren't working Keith! Pl-please don't let me stay this way, put me back in the pod, please please please Keith, Keith please," lance held onto him with shaking hands as Keith couldn't help but hold onto him, he was terrified at this point but lance was doing worst.
"You've been in the pod for eight hours," Keith gulped.
"Put me in for days! I don't care! I have to see Keith! I have to be able to see!" Lance yelled at him getting up but slipped on the short stairs as he hit the ground.
"Lance please calm down!" Keith pulled him up to his feet as lance was shaking his head.
"I'm sorry," he whispered holding lances wrists so he couldn't hurt himself anymore.
"I have to I have too, I have to see again Keith please," lances lip trembled as he couldn't breath evenly.
"I have to see my family again," he fell to his knees as Keith made sure he didn't fall to hard.
"I'm sorry lance, I'm so sorry," Keith felt his chest tighten as he pulled lance close to his chest as the blue paladin weeped pathetically into his chest, his arms at his sides limply, kneeling against Keith as the red paladin held him tightly with his eyes closed.
Allura walked in first as well as everyone else but stopped seeing the two boys near the pod as lance was mumbling sobs, over and over pleas for to help his eyes see again as Keith buried his face into his hair mumbling apologies for it.
"Oh.. Lance..." Allura whispered.
