malia's pov

"we're glad you're awake, ma'am. we have to check through some things first but for now, stay cozy," the nurse said in a polite tone while sending me a warm smile.

"um. how long was i out?" i asked curiously before she walked out.

"you were in a coma for eight days," she said in a 'feeling bad' type of tone.

"oh..." i whispered, not having much else to say.

"i'll let your friend know that he can talk to you now," she informed before walking out.

after a few seconds, grayson walked in and he seemed nervous; shown by rubbing his hands together.

"hey," he said quietly with a smile while walking closer to me.

"hi," i whispered, feelings little butterflies in my stomach.

"how are you feeling?" he asked while sitting down on the chair next to me.

i let out a deep sigh, "not good, if i'm being honest."

"explain," he said while listening carefully.

i took a big gulp before feeling this knife go through my heart at the memory of my last time with my mother.

"in my dream, i saw my mom. it felt so real besides all the whole traveling through my memories. she was so pretty, her voice was like an angel and that was my last time hearing it," i broke eye contact with him while starting to play with my fingers.

"what did you guys talk about?" he asked. "if you want to tell me," he added to make sure i'm comfortable to tell him.

"it only felt like less than twenty minutes with her. we traveled through some underrated moments in my life that still made me happy. and then we started to run out of time because i was going to wake up and she knew it," i said while my eyebrows furrowed at a thought.

it sounds so lame when i say it out loud.
it sounds so stupid.

travel through my memories while being in a coma?
the most stupidest thing i've ever said out loud.

"that's so cool though," he said as if he read my mind. "like being able to travel through your memories with the person who you love."

"it hurt really bad when she started to disappear," i stated while leaving a blank expression on my face.

"i'm sorry but your dad is almost here," he said, trying to bright up the mood since he knows i need my dad at the moment, since he's my only family member now.

"really?" i asked while my mood lit up with happiness.

"yeah. ethan and daniela are on the way too. it's just traffic," he sent a warming smile.

"what happened while i was gone?" i asked him curiously.

"we all literally sat here and impatiently waited for you to wake up. daniela cried a lot too," he said with a light chuckle at the end.
