malia's pov

my finger traveled in circles on my bed, dozing off.

it's been hard to get use to, knowing that i can't just call her to hear her voice.

i'm trying to be okay on the outside.
i can cry all i want on the inside, where it won't show.

i've already worried my friends enough due to my coma, plus my father.

so, them seeing me cry is just gonna make them worry about me too much.

i know she won't be here when i graduate college, or come to my wedding, meet my kids, nothing of that.

but i'm thankful that i've had a mother in the first place.

teaching me how to ride a bike, how to make eggs for myself when i'm hungry, how to do a math problem, graduating high school.

she's helped me so many times, now i have to help myself.

i'm going to be strong... just for my mom.

"are you crying?" daniela voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

i blinked before wiping my eyes.

well, shit.

"aww malia," she said in a poor tone while coming over to my bed, giving me a hug to comfort me.

"i'm sorry," i sniffled before hugging her back. "i didn't want to cry."

"cry all you want. i'm here for you," she said while slowly playing with my hair.

i stared at the ground while my head rest on her shoulder.

the image of my mother in the hospital bed kept replaying in my head.

the monitor having a straight line.

because of that, i kept crying.

and i kept crying.

"come with me," daniela said while dragging my arm, leading me somewhere.

we just finished eating fast food and now, she told me that she wanted to show me something.

i hate receiving surprises , i only love giving them.

"where are we going?" i asked right when she stopped walking, wanting to get the "surprise" part over with.

"they should be here any minute," daniela said while looking around in circle.

"who?" i asked, wanting to desperately know.

"ou! there they are," daniela jumped while looking to her left, dragging me by my arm again.

my eyes squinted while staring at the three people walking towards us.

it was dark but i could tell it was two males and a female due to their height and figure.
