Day 1: Exploration

- Austin Glazkömmpf's Perspective -

     I catch my breath as I finally stop running. I had been running for a solid 10 minutes, and my lungs wanted to explode. But I had to get out of this jungle. I saw Luna go down in an instant for one wrong step. I couldn't imagine what would happen if I just camped out in this place.

I reach into my pack, and feel around for supplies. I end up finding a full canteen of fresh water, a small utility knife, and a map. The map was of high interest to me, so I unfold it and lean against a tree to read it.

A small compass rose sat on the bottom left corner, and the map looked like an island. I wasn't exactly surprised on the location they had chosen for this one. They had most of the arenas in some form of a forest.

I stop running, and start panting as I sit on a log to check my bag. I found a small, metallic Utility Knife, some water in a plastic Canteen, and a map. A tinge of disappointment crosses me as I look at my 'weapon'. It wasn't made to kill people.

     Nevertheless, The first thing I look at is the map.

Judging by the location of the place near the Cornucopia without many trees, I pinpoint myself to halfway between the cornucopia and the east coast of the island.

A thing called the "Shipwreck" was closest to me, and things like La Ciudad and Las Casas were on the west coast.

     "So, we got what we got, which way should we go?" Dawn asks. She looks at the map, as I step out of the golf cart we had driven.

     "I say La Ciudad." Mariel suggests. "It should have plenty of cover and supplies."

     "I'm indifferent." I say. I don't really care where we go, as long as I'm with them. Because then I can kill this manipulative girl in her sleep.

     "Why not something more low key?" Dawn questions. "Like.. erm.. the Golf Course."

     "Well we're closest to the city." Mariel points out. "We could get there quicker."

     But I knew the real reason she was suggesting the Golf Course. Only 3 of the tributes seemed to know what a manipulative little punk she was. Kable, Pierto and I were the only 3 who could see through her stuff. Hell, Kable had even went out of his way to expose her.

     I had seen Maddox's crew head in that general direction. Dawn had been trying to get at Maddox this whole time, and it wasn't more obvious than in the tribute parade. She was trying to use that little 12 year old.

     And that's why I hated her. But I had to get on her good side so she wouldn't be suspicious of me.

     "I like the Golf Course, actually." I say. Mariel shoots me a confused look, while Dawn plasters a smirk on her face.
