~*Chapter 9*~ The Morning {Edited}

~Lucy's POV~

Huh?... That smell...

I straighten up my back and stretch my arms out. Something  smells really delicious! I rub my eyes, trying to get rid of the gunk in my eyes. I look down at my neck and noticed that I'm still wearing Natsu's scarf. It feels so nice and warm. No wonder why it made me feel so comfortable to the point where it made me sleepy.

"Good morning, Lucy."

I turn around and see that it's little Wendy, who looks really tired. "I hope you had a really good sleep." she said in a cute voice while yawning.

"Good morning, Wendy. I actually had a good sleep." I said while I stretched once more.

"That's good." She smiles with her lips closed. She smacks her lips. "So, how do you like the movie?" she asked.

"I really liked it!"

"Yay!!! Come on, the food is wai-" her eyes widened all of a sudden, staring where my neck is.

"Wait, why are you wearing my brother's scarf?" she curiously asks. She sits in front of me while looking at it in amusement.

"Oh well... Natsu gave it to me to make me feel better. I was crying after the movie ended and he let me wear it to make me feel better." I respond.

"Awww! You must be that special to him!" she puts on a heart-felt smile.

"W-Wait what?"

She cools down. "It's just... no one ever touched or wore his scarf before. That scarf is from our father. He gave it to him before he left. It was a special gift."

Wait... Their father?

"What happened to your father?" I ask Wendy.

"He left. I don't know where he is or what's he's been up to. I didn't even get to meet him or talk to him. I only see him in pictures. The police never found him. He disappeared on Natsu's 4th birthday is what Mama, told me. Natsu's scarf and pictures were the only things we have to remember him. Our mom doesn't like talking about it." she said in a saddening tone.

"I am sorry to hear that..." I look down in sadness. Their own father abandoned them...

Wendy shakes her head and smiles. "You shouldn't be sorry! Never mind that, let's go to the dining room!"

We both get up and she grabs my hand. We start walking to the dining room together. It is small, but cute. The plates are on the table and forks and spoons are placed next by the plates. Cups are also on the table filled with cold water. I see Natsu sitting down. He turns around and notices that me and Wendy are here. "Morning Luce!" he said with a grin.

"Good morning, Natsu." I smile back. I unwrap the scarf around my neck and gave the scarf to him as if it was a fragile thing and smiled to show him that I appreciated his kindness. "Here. Thank you for letting me using it. It helped me feel better."

"No problem. Besides, I'm still right." he said teasingly. I scoffed and rolled my eyes. I sit next to Wendy and Natsu sits across from me. While we're eating, we mostly talked about the movie.

"Hey Luce," said Natsu, I look to him. "Why were you in the forest?" he changes the subject.

My eyes widened. Is it the right time to tell them? What if I get sent back? Images starts popping up rapidly. Images of last night... I can feel my body trembling. I clenched my fist to resist my tears coming back. I can tell Natsu and Wendy are looking at me, waiting for an answer. Say something Lucy!

"Um I-"

"Good morning, children!" I turn around and see Mrs. Grandine, coming from the corner of the wall of the kitchen. She puts the food on the table. There's a lot of food! "Eat up!" she says.

Natsu grabs a lot of food on the plate! He puts it on his plate and puts hot sauce on it. He pours a lot of it! My mouth opened in shock. He eats so much food and puts too much hot sauce!

"H-How?-"

"Sorry about him, Lucy. He likes eating a lot like his father." Mrs. Grandine interrupted when she put some food on my plate. "He also likes putting hot sauce on his food too." she smiles.

"Wow, he must like spicy foods then." I said.

"Yep, He doesn't even drink water after eating spicy foods. He just gobbles it up."

"Yeah, don't worry about it Lucy, he always eats like this. My brother is such a pig." Wendy said while she's eating.

"Shut up Wendy!" He exclaimed with food in his mouth and continues eating.

"Yep a pig." Wendy takes the first bite from her plate.

I chuckled. I ate a piece of the food and my tastebuds were as if singing this is so good. I ate and ate until my plate was empty. "Wow Lucy you must have been hungry in the forest, huh?" Mrs. Grandine said when she got up and takes my plate.

"Yeah. I guess I was really hungry." I said smiling. Mrs. Grandine looks at me with worry. Did something happen?

"Lucy, can you tell us why you were at the forest yesterday?" Mrs. Grandine asked when she sat down on the chair near the table.

I see everyone staring at me. I sigh. "Okay, I guess I will tell you what happened." I clenched my fist on my lap. I start trembling.

I told them the whole story. It felt like I had a weight lifted off my chest, but it still hurts.... I look at Wendy and Natsu. They just had saddening looks on their faces and with shock. But then, I felt a tear running down my cheek.

"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to cry! I didn't want to tell you guys in the morning!" I exclaimed, wiping my eyes quickly.

Then a tight embrace was holding on to me. It was Mrs. Grandine. "It wasn't your fault, Lucy. It wasn't." she sobs. "Your mother protected you. She loves you very much. She wanted you to have a happy life. She wanted you to live on. She was a brave, caring, and loving mother." After I heard those words, tears immediately came out of my eyes. I hug her tightly as well. But still... I still feel guilty...

After we were done hugging, Wendy came up to me and hugs me as well. She was crying too. After that, Natsu went up to me. He grabs my hand and said "Don't worry Lucy, you're safe here." He pulls me to him in a warm embrace.

"Thank you." I said. I let go of Natsu and smiled at him.
