chapter two.
you hung the moon

CAMILLE BELIEVED SHE owed Esme a favour as the Browne had taken interest to finding the murderer killing innocent people in the French Quarter. Though, Esme's suspicions narrowed on Lucien Castle, there was still proof needing to be found before pointing him to possible investigation. Esme chewed on her bottom as she flicked through the images that Camille had sent her via email, where pictures from the crime scene had been taken to show the ins and out of the murder, from the cut to cheek to cheek and the way their hands were tied up, like a puppet.

From the pictures she had hoped for there to have been something in which Klaus was going to recognise. That maybe did catch his interest more than it had before. Esme had strode her way through the compound, knowing where Klaus had rested, on the balcony over the city to see those who were dancing or playing music for the night on the streets. For the night, there seemed to have been more than one problem, one in which Esme was expecting to walk into.

Jackson Kenner stood in the middle of the room, with Elijah hovering on his back and Klaus questioned the sight of the wolf who he hadn't seen for months suddenly appearing in his home. Esme's brows furrowed in confusion with the presences of the wolf as she lowered the iPad between her grasps to hide the pictures that took over her screen. "Uh, Jackson?" Esme was filled with confusion as he glanced over his shoulder at the Browne who had slowed her walk in front of him. "What's going on?" She asked.

Elijah sighed. "Hayley's missing."

"Wait." Esme furrowed her brows. "Missing?"

"What'd you do with Hayley?" Jackson asked the hybrid, believing that he knew more than it seemed he had let on.

Elijah demanded for an answer. "Tell me what you know." He worried that from traps scattered across the Bayou, Hayley could've been in danger.

"Has Jackson misplaced his bride?" Klaus quipped casing the wolf to stiffen as Esme had let out a deep sigh as she as filled with concern on where Hope's mother was. "Come to think about it, I did read that global warming has disrupted migration patterns. Try Georgia."

Jackson glared at Klaus who's wit he couldn't bring himself to deal with. "I just the bodies of people I care about to rot in the woods because you left them defenseless against poachers." Klaus had grinned as if he was to be proud of the curse he had put on the Crescent wolves. "Sent by Kingmaker Land Development. That ring a bell." Esme was trying to grasp all what she was hearing while noticing the way Klaus' grin had faded when the mention of a company his old acquaintance owned. "Yeah. The CEO is Lucien Caste. Elijah tells me that you two go way back."

"Nik," Esme had broken her silence. "you need to tell them what you know."

"As it happens, I just came back from a romp with our goos friend Lucien." Klaus explained. "You can find him in the penthouse of the gawdy new construction on canal, and while you two are catching up, be sure to ask him about the prophetic vision he showed me of our family's spectacular downfall. You could use a good laugh."
