The big city intimidated Steve as he walked down the streets. His heart was racing, almost pounding through his big chest. He never felt this nervous before, asking a woman out was a new thing for Steve. Peggy Carter was the first woman he ever loved, but she often made the first move. Now, it was Steve's turn to step up to the plate. There was a first time for everything, a thought that stuck to Steve for a while. Before he left to ask Grace, James gave him money to pay for the restaurant and to buy himself something nice to wear. He didn't want to spend too much money on himself, and bought a simple blue polo and another pair of khakis.
Just enough to pay for the reservation for the dinner.
James also recommended the restaurant, Olive Garden. From what she had experienced, it was Grace's favorite restaurant. Following James' recommendation, he reserved a table at 7:00. He was very skeptical in trying the Italian food but tried to brush the feeling away as he approached Grace's workplace.
A sudden rush of nervousness came over him as he walked through the doors. To add to his gentlemen act, he bought a bouquet of flowers on his way. A simple way to charm a woman, another act that was used in the 1940s. Many of the workers gave Steve romantic stares as he walked through the desks. He spotted Grace's tight bun near the end of the room, alongside Grace was Sean. His heart skipped another beat as his stomach continued to do summersaults. As the moment grew near, he felt his words getting slurred. Steve had planned on what he was going to say before he arrived. Now, he didn't remember his words.
"Hey Steve." Sean greeted.
Grace looked up from her papers, first looking at the bouquet of flowers then to Steve. Her cheeks grew red as her lips curled into a tight smile which made Steve a bit better.
"Oh my gosh, Steve. What's all this for?" She cried.
Think, Steve. Think.
"I just wanted to thank you for uhm... all that you've done for me."
Her smile widened for a moment as Steve handed her the bouquet.
"And, if you don't mind. Would-... you be able...to go out to dinner with me?"
Grace looked up from the flowers, her eyes flashing with excitement.
"Dinner? Oh my gosh, Steve. You shouldn't." She paused for moment, "But, I'd love too. Date and time?"
"Uhm, tonight. Olive Garden, 7:00...on the dot." He added.
She chuckled at his comment, "On the dot? Someone wants to start on time."
"It's something Peggy would say."
"Well, I'll see you there, Captain."
She gave him a small salute, before turning back to Sean. Steve was too consumed in their conversation and the turnout of situation, he had forgotten about Sean. Steve didn't know much about Sean, but did have sympathy for him. Losing a love one was another feeling Steve had. Another moment flashed into his head, the time when Bucky, his best friend, fell to his death. He'd always feel guilty about the situation, if there was some way to reverse the past, he'd save Bucky.

The sun was beginning to set as Steve waited patiently by the restaurant. Dressed in his blue polo shirt and khakis, his dirty blonde hair was combed back, Steve felt confident about the dinner. He couldn't keep his eyes off his watch, keeping a close eye to the ticking time. His heart continued to beat as time passed by quickly. It was close to seven, and Grace wasn't showing. Now he knew the feeling Peggy must have felt when he didn't show up to their date at Stork Club. He looked up at the huge city, his eye scanning the tall building far from the restaurant. The lights flickered on the building, revealing the brighten words, Stark Industries.
Could this be Howard Stark?
Steve thought of Howard, his faithful friend. Could this building be his company? Or was someone else running the building in his place? So many questions filled inside of Steve as he entered back into the restaurant. It was five minutes passed seven, and Steve grew worried. Many of the employees of the restaurant glanced over at him, asking if he would like to order just in case Grace showed up a few minutes late.
Minutes later, Grace walked through the doors. She was wearing a simple floral printed dress along with white ballet flats. Her brown hair was curled at the tips and was cascaded on the side. Steve suddenly stood up and walked over to lead her to their table.
"You're late." He commented.
"I'm sorry, I lost track of time." She apologized.
"You look beautiful."
"Where have I heard that before?"

Time passed by the two, as they continued to enjoy each other's company while talking about various subjects. Grace shared a story about her Uncle Phil, who was a huge fan of Captain America. The story took place in New Mexico, in a small gas station. She called the story, Captain Phil takes charge, for he had saved a women's life. The food then arrived, giving the two a moment of silence to snack on their foods.
Steve thought Italian food wasn't that bad, the taste was different than anything he had ever tried before. Grace seemed to enjoy the food, as she quietly ate the food on her plate. Breaking the silence, Grace cleared her throat before speaking.
"I hope you don't mind me asking, but who's Peggy? You know, that comment you made this morning."
Her question struck Steve; he wasn't comfortable on speaking on the topic of Peggy. But, he was willing to tell Grace about the first woman he had loved.
"Well, she-she... was the first woman I had ever loved."
He wasn't sure on what else to say about her. Steve loved Peggy, and the words he had said, fitted her description about herself.
First woman he had ever loved.
