Addison couldn't keep still after she visited Grace in some sort of a hospital at SHIELD. She looked very peaceful as Addison pictured the moment, like sleeping beauty just waiting for her prince to come by and revive her from the spell. She imagined Steve reaching in and reviving Grace from the spell. Addison gushed a bright red color to her cheeks as she walked out of SHIELD's doors to the big city. She fixed her appearance, changing into more normal attire for the city. Addison didn't know the city very well, since this was the first time she had been out without an order from Fury.
So this must be how it feels to be just out in the city, she thought to herself.
Addison never had a normal day in her years, always around many cities just for orders from SHIELD. The sweet girl longed for some down time to just live a normal life, to do the things other girls get to do in their free time. Instead, she was stuck running back and forth different locations with various blood on her hands. Sure, Addison didn't like the fact she had to kill people, but this what she signed up for right?
Before she shot the bullet to her victim, she would silently pray to herself, for God to forgive her of the crime because it was only for SHIELD's good. The innocent girl had to lose her innocence, in order to gain a power of compassion for others.
They were horrible people, they deserved to be killed. They had more blood on their hands than her's.
Still, many sleepless nights of the constant replays of her killings, each one coming back to bite her in the head. Of course, Addison has always thought of quitting SHIELD, and find some other profession to do. She couldn't do it, where would she go? Besides Nick, Natasha, and Clint, Addison had no one left. Her family was taken away from her several years before her joining in SHIELD, which is the usual backstory of most of their agents. They were all alone, and the agents in the facility were their only family. She wasn't sure if Clint and Natasha have accepted her into their friendship. Before, Natasha hated Addison's guts; both came off on a rocky start but came together because of Clint.
A car suddenly honked by her, yanking her out of her thoughts. The driver angrily continued to honk until she was out his way. Addison gave back a stern look, calming herself not to send out the middle finger to angry driver. A young man stepped across and pushed her aside to let the car pass. Addison was confused at this strange gesture as she reached into her sides, not finding a gun nearby. She became alarmed for this stranger could bring harm to her. His grip was soon released also showing off his brown shaggy hair.
"Gosh, don't you understand that you were in the way of that driver?" The man harshly spoke.
Addison rolled her eyes, "Please, did he know that he could just drive around me?"
"It's not like that here." He replied.
"Well, thank you for uhm, moving me out of the way." She spat.
"Attitude, I'm certainly not in a prissy or sassy mood at the moment."
"Excuse me? Sassy? You started it first."
Addison grew furious at the man and felt the urge to tackle him. His skinny figure would be no match for her impeccable skills. She couldn't help but scan the man's figure from his shaggy hair to his dirty converse. The man caught her gaze and waved his hand awkwardly front of her face. Addison caught his hand in a position where she could just pull him over her shoulder onto the concrete ground. Instead, she swatted the hand away and shook her head vividly.
"What's your name, Miss Sass?" The man asked.
"Miss Sass? Seriously, it's Addison." She responded quickly.
"Addison?" He said briskly.
"Yeah, Addison Par." She repeated again.
"Weren't you with Grace, a couple nights ago?" The man asked, as he turned his body to face hers.
"Wait, Grace Jones? Yes, I know her. Where was I, two nights ago... Oh! Sean's house." As the name slipped from her lips, she moved from her hands to Sean's eyes.
Sean let his hands out in a, "here I am" expression. Soon realizing her rudeness and horrible thoughts at this boy, she slapped her hand against her forehead.
"I am so sorry. I didn't mean to come off like that, it was rude." Addison apologized.
"No, I mean, I don't blame you, I was a bit harsh." Sean commented.
Addison continued to spit harsh words toward herself for her actions. Sean stood by silently and handed her a white envelope with Grace's name in cursive letters.
"How is she?" He asked softly.
"Good, she looks very peaceful. Coulson said she should wake up soon; she was still asleep when I left. What's this?" Addison raised the letter for him to see.
"Just something for Grace. You can read it if you like."
As soon as he said those words, she opened the envelope slowly and read the letter to herself. Many of his words surprised Addison; she never knew this boy had feelings for Grace. In her mind, Steve and Grace were meant for each other but never realized there was another figure in the shadows. As she finished reading the last sentence, she wiped a small tear from her eyes.
"You're leaving her? Why?" Addison cried.
"I'm not leaving her; I just need to move on. How could you just stand there in front of someone you love, and watch them love someone else?" He said.
"You'll find someone. I promise." Addison said as she reached for his open hand.
"I hope so." He whispered.
"You'll find someone." Addison stated.
Sean stood up quickly, and wiped away his tears before looking over the letter again.
"Hand that to her when she wakes up?" He responded.
"I will."
"It was nice meeting you, Addison. Hopefully, we can see each other again?"
Addison nodded slightly, "Hopefully I can remember who you are, next time."
"Hopefully." With that, Sean took off.
Addison held the letter close and let her eyes close for a second. She had just learned a life lesson from Sean, and was thankful for their encounter. In her heart, she hoped for a day the two would meet again.
How could you just stand there in front of someone you love, and watch them love someone else?
