No Easy Way Out

Love is the most powerful emotion and that makes it the most dangerous.

Daesung was sleeping soundly in his pushchair as I walked through the park with Yugyeom.

"So, you think that I'm making the right choice?" Yugyeom asked.

"Of course it's the right choice, Yug. You can't stay with someone so poisonous. Maybe you and Wendy might find your way back to one another one day, but not right now, not the way that she is behaving." I reassured him. "If you don't leave, it won't end pretty, for anyone involved. The best thing you can do for yourself, for Wendy - is to call it quits before anyone else gets hurt."

"I can't help but worry that I'm not strong enough-" He muttered, looking at his hands and sighing slightly. I nudged him in the side, smiling softly at him.

"I've told you, Yug - I'm here for you. If you need my help or my advice, just ask and I'll help you out as much as I can." I assured him, he ran his hand through his hair.

"Why?" He asked simply. "Why are you being so kind to me?"

"Because of Daesung." I admitted, looking down at his resting face. "He makes me a stronger and better person every day. I want him to grow up in a better world than this and kindness is where it all starts. If I can help you, Yugyeom, all you have to do is ask and I'll do anything in my power."

"Is it pathetic of me to admit that I'm scared?" He asked, eyes on the floor. "That I'm frightened of how Wendy will react? What she'll do?"

"I don't blame you. Wendy is unpredictable, I can attest to that. More than anything, she's dangerous. So you need to be careful, you need to plan ahead." I told him. "Arrange to stay with someone you trust while you get yourself back on your feet. Leave as soon as you feel comfortable and safe to do so."

"Thanks Y/N-ah. I really appreciate it. I know I don't deserve your help and that's what makes it all the more heart-warming." He smiled, I shrugged lightly.

"It's nothing, really." I sighed. "Now, promise you'll stay in touch so that I know you're okay?"

"I promise."

Jungkook's Point of View

A couple of days had passed and Jungkook found himself looking after Daesung while Y/N was on a business call. He'd forgotten all about the DNA test now that he had Daesung in his arms. Daesung was sat happily on Jungkook's lap, a car in his hand that he was happily moving around, accompanied by noises as the television played quietly in the background, some nature documentary.

Jungkook placed his nose on the crown of Daesung's head, letting the scent rush through him. He held him in close, enjoying the warmth that emitted from him and the laughter, the love. He couldn't bear to lose Daesung not when he was only learning to love him. Was it worth all the stress of a DNA test? Wasn't his connection to Daesung proved right now in this moment?

Just as Jungkook was starting to relax, the door opened as Mr Jeon strode into the room, clutching a small plastic bag. His eyes hovered over Jungkook and the situation that he'd found him in.

"Do you really think this wise?" He commented, placing the bag down on the table. "Bonding like this..."

"How can you look at him and think that immediately? To me, this feels right. And if it feels right, then how can you possibly make it wrong?"

"Because I look at you the same way that you're looking at that child. Because you are my son and you deserve to know the truth, however painful it may be. There must be something that's niggling away in your mind, Jungkook. Why else would you have called me just the other day about the DNA test?"
