Twenty three

Pain... darkness is all I recognize first.

'Where am I?' It is all dark but I can slightly hear a machine beeping ... my body is too numb and heavy to make a movement. 

I start to try and remember the last thing I saw... Ruby's teary eyes ,the chair incident. Am I dead? I don't think that this is how death feels. Suddenly I peeled my eyelids from each other getting instantly blinded by the light .i groaned ,my throat is so dry ,it felt like I ate tons of sand .

' ughgh my head!' The pain is awful it made me want to bang my head on the wall ' ruby! ' my mind frantically reminded me , I hope she's okey , it was quite a strike !
I heard small cries of voices, my mind tries to place "Come on sweetie open your eyes " a soothing voice whispered to me 'Lucille?' I tried to open my eyes one more time with so much effort,my vision was blurry ,squinting to feel a bit comfortable with all that light .

A straw was placed in my mouth and I greedily siped the water blissfully . " slow down tiger or you'll choke " I did what Lucille told me,my vision slowly cleared "here you are , you frightened us !" Dita nodded next to her ,both looking sleep deprived "what happened " I whispered my voice still scratchy and it hurt when I attempt to speak "you took quite a hit on your head, you had a surgery but you went into a comatose State after that" I frowned "ruby?" I asked frantically looking for her in the white room ,I heaved a sight when my eyes focused on her shrinking figure on the small couch near the door,her legs are  tucked under her chin ,she looks so pale and sick ,judging by the scowl on her face and the dark circles under her beautiful eyes ,I felt a pang in my heart seeing her sunken cheeks "how long have I been out?" I asked,Lucille smiled sadly " about two weeks " I was shocked "she hasn't left your side since then ,only for necessary showers " Dita nodded looking toward sleeping ruby.

Ruby's eyes fluttered, frowning a little before her gaze land on me " hey sleepy head " I cleared my throat trying to ease the pain , her eyes widened and clumsily threw herself near me ,her mouth gaping like a fish,I want to laugh but my head will hurt more if i did "I'll go call the doctor "Dita informed me dragging Lucille with a side hug to the door

Ruby suddenly burst out crying,slowly cradling my free hand "ew ruby you rubbed your nose on my hand!" I whined softly cause I can't really talk loud.

"they shaved your hair!" i look at her shocked " way to open a conversation after a two weeks of coma" answering her sarcastically, 

titling her head, raising her eyebrows i knew she was going to complain or try to talk about the whole incident so i blurted before she gets to speak "you know, when i said i love sleeping, i didn't mean it to sleep for two weeks straight but hey! I'm not complaining; i get to skip MR.BANKS boring sessions and his hard quiz in biology" i could see the smile threatening to come out on her face but she fights it" i hope i didn't pee myself, I'd hate that " she rolled her eyes now smiling.

" how do you feel Cara? " she asked me, her voice is softer than usual

" i feel no pain, i actually feel sad, i woke up right before kissing my favorite idol " pouting and fighting a smirk, since i was talking about her but she doesn't know yet

the doctor came to check on me; he informed us that i will be able to get out in three days, seeing that my injury is almost completely healed except for the headaches and uncomfortable feeling of my head tightened, i can see that ruby has so much to say about this but she  remained quiet . i don't want to hear what she will say; i know that she is blaming herself about this which is totally unreasonable ; the guy that hit me was charged and is going to spend a long hopefully unpleasant five years for murder attempt. the doctor said that if that chair actually hit Ruby, she wouldn't have gotten a chance for surviving it like i did. the hit would've been too strong and unpredictable, it only confirmed my theory .................

          i am changing her past by simply being in it .
