Sonic - The Chao Garden

(I LOVE THE CHAO GARDEN!!, it's my favourite part in bot sonic adventure 1 and 2 and i wish they brought it back, i want to see them add new types, add a silver, blaze and cream chao, new things to do with them and just make them do more cute things, i love the chao garden and i cant handle how cute the chao are but anyway to the fic)
it was a lovely day and sonic, shadow, amy, knuckles and tails were in the hero chao garden, sonic was having a little race with his sonic chao, amy was teaching her amy chao how to look pretty to get sonic chao's attention, knuckles and his knuckle chao were testing out their strength, tails was flying around with his tails chao and shadow...well...he was watching from ontop the stone structure, he didn't want to be there but sonic bumped into him as he was heading to the chao garden and invited him along, it's not that shadow didn't like chao far from it, it was just...he didn't know how to raise one so he watched as the others played with their chao, sonic just handed his chao a fruit when he sees shadow ontop of the structure and he smirks, he then goes over and sits with shadow
"what's up shadow?" sonic says in his cocky tone
"why do you care? you have your chao" shadow says in a mumble
"i just wanted to check why you here looking sad" sonic says "and it seems you want a chao"
"what if i do?" shadow says looking at sonic then back at the sonic chao who was asleep after eating
"look, i can help you how to raise a chao" sonic says "it's sorta easy and you can see if you can bond with a chao that's in here"
"what do you mean? i only see 4 chao" shadow says looking at the blue hedgehog
"well...not really" sonic says "i heard and saw a fifth chao here and he appeared yesterday, all i know that he's very shy and he's black with red stripes...like you" sonic explains
"...why is he shy?" shadow asks
"we don't know, i think he feels...unwanted" sonic says "and left out since we all have chao and he's on his own, we have tried to befriend him but he pushes us away"
"...where do i find this chao?" shadow asks
"he usual hides behind that broken pillar next to the chao pc" sonic says "maybe he'll like you cause his a mini you"
shadow then gets down from the top of the sctructure and he heads over to the broken pillar, when he gets there he sees they was a chao and it was the same colours as him, he was black with red stripes on the quills, a red ball on the top of his head and big blue eyes, the chao looks around then he sees shadow and freaks out, he tries to run away but then he didn't
"don't worry, i won't hurt you" shadow says comforting the scared chao by sticking his hand out
the chao then whimpers and he slowly goes to shadow's hand slowly, when he gets to the hand he touches it cautiously then when the chao sees shadow wasn't scary shadow pets the chao on the head, the chao tries to understand if he likes the affection but after a bit he seems to love it and starts to bobble, shadow smiles then he picks up the chao so he can pet him better, he puts the chao down by the pond where the chao love to swim except for sonic chao who has aquaphobia and he sits down with his legs out stretched with the chao in the middle
"hmm" shadow hums and he pets the chao again
the chao was getting use to the pets and he loved them, shadow then looks up to see that everyone left except sonic who was coming over to meet him
"i see you made friends" sonic says and he sits down next to shadow
"yeah...it was quite easy really" shadow replies
the chao then sees the sonic chao come over and he hide behind shadow, the sonic chao looked at the chao and a question mark appears on his head
"don't worry buddy" sonic says to his chao "he's just shy, he'll get use to you" and he rubs his chao's head
the sonic chao then smiles at the affection then lays his head on sonic's tummy giving him a hug
"so what are you going to name him?" sonic asked as he pets his chao "i was thinking shadow chao since he looks like you only shy"
"shadow chao sounds good enough but...it's weird calling my own name to him" shadow replies as he makes his chao come out from hiding
"give him a nickname like i do" sonic says looking at shadow then at his chao who was asleep on him "i call mine buddy, tails calls his t, knuckles calls his kid and amy calls hers mini" sonic says
shadow then looks at his chao who was looking back at him and he tilts his head thinking
"i think...i call him...shade" shadow says and the chao claps in response
"aww! he likes it" sonic says happily and he puts his free hand out to try and pet the shadow chao
the shadow chao gets scared and he holds onto shadow's arm for support then when sonic pets him he calms down
"we can come back tomorrow if you want" sonic says "so you can bond with him more"
shadow looks at his chao and the chao hugs him in response
"i guess i have no choice" shadow says with a shrug
"good" sonic says happily "meet at my house tomorrow and we'll head over but if eggman attacks or something, we'll have to leave it till the day after"
"...ok" shadow says and he pets his chao one last time
sonic puts his chao next to a flower bed and he didn't disturb him
"look after my chao ok buddy?" sonic says to the shadow chao
the shadow chao looks at the sonic chao and gives a nod to sonic
"good boy" sonic says and pets the chao "we'll see you tomorrow!" he says and he leaves with shadow
when the 2 hedgehogs were gone the shadow chao looks at the asleep sonic chao and slowly goes over to him, when he get close as he can get he lies down and tries to go to sleep but then he jumps a little when he feels something close to him, he opens a eye to see sonic chao sleeping behind him with his back on his, shadow chao then settles down and he drops off to sleep
it was early next morning when shadow chao woke up again and he realised he was hungry, shadow chao gets up and sees sonic chao still asleep and he waddles over to a fruit that's under the tree, meanwhile sonic was finishing eating his breakfast chilli dog when he hears a knock on his door, he then goes over while licking his fingers and opens it to see shadow
"hey shadow, ready to go?" sonic says and he checks his house quick
"yeah" shadow replies and sonic closes his door
"ok then, let's go" sonic says and both hedgehogs set off
as they were walking cream with cheese sees them and she smiles before going over
"hello mr. sonic! mr. shadow!" cream says happily "are you two heading over to the chao gardens?"
"yeah wanna come?" sonic asked
"yeah i was going to head there myself, cheese wants to meet his friends" cream says and the chao cheers
sonic smiles and he with shadow and now cream and cheese head to the chao garden, back in the hero chao garden and sonic chao wakes up, he looks around to see if he can find his new friend and he does but the other chao were curious about him causing him to get nervous
'i've never seen him before' knuckles chao says
'yeah is he new?' amy chao adds
'yes and no, he's been since the day after yesterday, he was just to shy to come out' tails chao says
'well i think he's creepy' amy chao says
'don't say that amy chao' tails chao says 'he's not that bad'
knuckles chao then goes over to shadow chao and puts out his arm, shadow chao flinches in fear as he thought knuckles chao was going to punch him then sonic chao comes over
'i know you all are trying to be friends with him but he's just to shy' sonic chao says pushing knuckles chao back to where amy chao and tails chao were
shadow chao watches as sonic chao pushes everyone away then he goes over to him
'you ok?' sonic chao asks only getting a nod from shadow chao 'come on, let's move you to a quieter place' he says and takes shadow back to where sonic and shadow put them before they left
when they get there sonic chao sits next to shadow chao and he holds shadow chao's arm
'it's ok' sonic chao says comforting shadow chao 'they only want to be your friend like i did yesterday, they won't hurt you i promise'
shadow chao then looks at sonic chao and gives him a small smile, sonic chao smiles back then he let's go of shadow chao's arm
'i think your big look alike is coming back today with my big look alike' sonic chao says happily
'...daddy?' shadow chao says not sure who he was to him
'...you...could call him that' sonic chao says 'i don't know what he'll think though'
'...sonic...daddy?' shadow chao says tilting his head as to say 'is sonic your daddy?'
'...umm...i guess so...since i care about him the most and...he was the first person i saw when i hatched' sonic chao says 'but i don't want to call him daddy just in case he doesn't like it'
just then a noise was heard then all the chao look at the door to see sonic, shadow and cream with cheese, sonic chao gets happy and he bolts over to sonic while shadow sat and watched
"oh hey buddy!" sonic says seeing his chao and picking him up
sonic the snuggles his chao while shadow goes over to his, the shadow chao then sees shadow and goes over to him
"hey there shade" shadow says and he pets his chao which makes shadow chao wiggle happily
"mr. sonic, your chao is very cute" cream says happily
"thanks cream" sonic replies and he puts his chao down
cheese then goes to the sonic chao and they look at each other for a moment before going off to play, cream and sonic watch as their chaos play with each other and the others till cream saw shadow coming over with his chao
"wow mr. shadow, your chao looks adorable" cream says happily "he looks just like you"
"hmm" shadow hums happily and he looks at his chao who was following close behind him
cream then goes over and bends down to greet the shadow chao who was a little scared at first
"don't be scared, i will never hurt you" cream says and then the shadow chao came out
cream then pets him on the head which he loved then cream tickled his tummy which causes him to laugh, cream smiles happily then cheese comes over with sonic chao
"chao?" 'who's he?' cheese asked
"oh hi cheese, this is..." cream says and she looks at shadow
"shadow chao" shadow says and cream nods
"yes shadow chao" cream says and cheese goes over to him
shadow chao gets scared but shadow rubs him on the head to calm him down, cheese then grabs shadow chao's arm and shakes it
"chao chao" 'nice to meet you!' cheese says and shadow chao smiles
cheese then drags the shadow chao over to the other and he was trying to get shadow chao to play, shadow chao wanted to run back to shadow but then sonic chao calmly brings him in, shadow chao didn't know what to do at first but then he was enjoying himself
"aww! that's so cute!" cream says happily
"yeah, it is quite cute" sonic says crossing his arms
meanwhile in the dark chao garden eggman was there with his dark chao, he had a total of 5 and they were a dark/fly, a dark/power, a dark/swim, a dark/neutral and a dark chaos chao
'with these chao, i will take over the world' eggman thought and he laughs evily "right my evil chao, are you...huh?" he says and he realises that he was missing a chao
the chao he was missing was the dark/run chao that hatched a few days ago, he look all over for him but he couldn't find it anywhere
"where's the dark/run chao?" eggman asked the other chao
the other chao look at each other and shrug
'do you mean that shy one?' the dark/fly chao asked
"yes the shy dark/run chao!" eggman says annoyed "where is he?!"
'...we...we think he ran away' the dark/swim chao says
"ran away!" eggman says shocked and angry "ugh! we need to find him!" he says and he walks out the garden with the 5 dark chao following him
back in the hero garden and cheese all of a sudden got a cough so cream took him to the chao kindergarten's doctor for pills, the amy, knuckles and tails chao were asleep and shadow and sonic were with their chao, shadow chao was getting petted by shadow while sonic chao was in between sonics legs trying to spin dash
"i wonder where shadow chao came from" sonic says to shadow "he just appeared one day 3 days ago and everyone doesn't know how he found this place"
shadow chao then looked at sonic like he wanted to tell him where he came from but he couldn't since he was glad he found this place and he pushed it to the back of his mind, he then sighs and then look at sonic chao who then speeds off in a sped dash
"your doing great buddy" sonic says and he pets sonic chao when he runs over to him
shadow chao watches as sonic chao tries the spin dash again and it made shadow chao want to try it out, he tries to curl up but then he fell over with a dizzy spiral on his head, shadow then picks him up and stands him up right
"i think he's trying to spin dash like sonic chao here" sonic says and he pets sonic chao
sonic chao looks at shadow chao then he smiles
'first you do this' sonic chao says and he curls up which shadow chao copies 'then this' he says and he starts to spin 'then you let go!' and he spins ahead
shadow chao tries and he starts to spin, he then let's go and he spins off even going a little farther then sonic chao
'you did it' sonic chao says going to shadow chao
shadow chao smiles happily then runs over to shadow giving him a hug, sonic chao then goes over to sonic and the hedgehog pets him on the head
"your a good teacher buddy!" sonic says happily and sonic chao smiles "you are defiantly my chao"
'daddy?' shadow chao asked looking at sonic making sonic, shadow and sonic chao look at him
"...yes...and your dad buddy" sonic says looking at shadow chao then at his chao and then he hugs his chao making a love heart pop up on sonic chao's head
shadow chao then looks at shadow and shadow looks back at him tilting his head a little
"what?" shadow asked his chao
'...love you daddy...' shadow chao says and he hugs shadow around his tummy
shadow was suprised on what his chao said but then he smiles softly and he picks him up, he then puts shadow chao on his chest where his fluff was and hugged him, shadow chao then made a love heart appear on his head and he snuggled into shadow's chest fluff
"love you too shade" shadow whispers only making shadow chao hear it
meanwhile eggman was coming out of the neutral chao garden annoyed
"well he isn't there" eggman says then he sees cream and cheese
he hides on the stairs to the dark garden and cream didn't see him
"your cough should be gone by tomorrow cheese so don't panic" cream says comforting cheese
"cho cho" 'i hope so' cheese replies and he coughs again
cream was about to step on the portal when it goes off, then amy appeared and she sees cream
"oh hey cream, you seen sonic?" amy says and asked "also what's wrong with cheese?"
"yeah, he's with mr. shadow in the hero chao garden" cream says "mr. shadow has a new chao that looks like him but he's really shy, also cheese caught a cough but it'll go away tomorrow"
'hmm...that sound like my missing dark/run chao' eggman thought
"yeah i know about the shy chao but i didn't know shadow of all people will befriend it" amy says
'me neither' eggman thought
"well thanks cream, i hope cheese gets better" amy says and she steps out of the portal
cream steps in the portal and she waves at amy as she dissapears, amy waves back and when cream was gone she heads up to the hero chao garden, eggman then comes out of hiding and he looks at his 5 dark chao
"so what we do is enter the hero chao garden, take the dark/run chao then return here" eggman says "got it?"
all the dark chao nod then eggman heads to the hero chao garden, when amy gets to the garden she sees sonic and shadow leaning agents the wall having a laugh
"hey sonic!" amy says making sonic jump on hearing her voice
"oh...hi amy...what's up?" sonic says getting a little nervous
"nothing much, just came to see where you were" amy replies then she sees the shadow chao "is that shadow's new chao?"
"yeah" sonic says looking at shadow chao who was looking at amy curiously
"...cream was right, he does look like shadow" amy says looking back and forth between shadow and his chao
amy then gets distracted by her chao running over to her
"hi mini!" amy says happily and she pets her chao
amy chao makes a love heart appear above her head then amy picks her up
"i leave you two to talk" amy says and she walks away from the 2 male hedgehogs
'...who that?' shadow chao asked
"oh that's amy" sonic says "she's...umm...a pink hedgehog that's...umm...very caring" sonic says as he was blushing up trying to think on what to say about her without giving away that he likes her
'...she is his soon-to-be mate' sonic chao whispers to shadow chao who giggles in reply dispite him not knowing what a mate is
shadow then watch the 2 chao as they decide to have a race while sonic was watching amy with a little blush on his face and smile slowly appearing on his mouth
then a bad feeling came over amy, sonic and shadow chao and they run to their owners, then eggman walks into the garden
"eggman?!" sonic says suprised "what are you doing here?"
"i came...for him" eggman says and points to shadow chao
"why? he's happy to be here" amy says joining sonic and shadow with amy, tails and knuckles chao following her
"cause he's meant to be part of my team of ultimate dark chao sqaud" eggman says and shows the 3 hedgehogs his 5 dark chao
"well...your not taking him" shadow says "he's my shadow chao and he doesn't want to be with you" he says and picks up shadow chao
"looks like i have to get him the hard way" eggman says annoyed "dark chao, attack!" he shouts and the dark chao run toward the amy, sonic, knuckles and tails chao
the chao then attack with tails chao going agents the dark/fly chao, knuckles chao going agents the dark/power chao, amy chao having a hammer and going agenst the dark/swim chao, sonic chao going agenst the dark/neutral chao and the dark chaos chao going after shadow with shadow chao in his arms
'now hand over the dark/run chao' the dark chaos chao says
'he has a name you know' sonic chao says 'and it's shadow chao'
shadow chao then jumps out of shadow's arms and he spin dashes into the dark chaos chao while he was distracted by sonic chao, the dark chaos chao then stumbles back and falls over with a squiggle on the top of his head, the other 4 dark chao then see their leader on the floor and they go over to him
'are you ok?' the dark/neutral chao asks worried
'are you hurt?' the dark/swim chao asks also worried
the dark chaos chao then gets up and then he was full of anger, he then charges at shadow chao and shadow chao screams, he then ran to shadow and then sonic chao steps in between shadow chao and the dark chaos chao causing him to be pushed really hard, sonic chao then falls over and shadow chao turns around after hearing a noise, sonic chao then gets up a little injured and he spin dashes into the dark chaos chao causing him to land where he fell before, the dark chaos chao then gets up again and he runs away crying with the other dark chao following behind
"no! wait! come back!" eggman says and he runs after them "i'll be back!" he shouts as he left
sonic chao then goes over to shadow chao and he smiles at him
'you alright?' sonic chao asks
shadow chao nods and sonic chao smiles at him before he fell over in pain
"buddy!" sonic says and he picks up his chao "...oh thank goodness, he's ok"
"what's wrong with him?" amy asked as she goes over
"he's just got a bruise on his chest which is giving him pain" sonic says "i'm sure the doctor will give him somethin' to make the bruise go away" he says and he heads to the door "i'll be right back" and he runs off
shadow chao watches at sonic left with his chao then he felt getting petted, he turns around and he sees shadow with a smirk on his face
"you did a good job" shadow says and shadow chao looks at him before making a love heart appear above his head "you were brave and...i liked it" he says and whispers the last part
shadow chao smiles at shadow then he turns to the door again as he was worried about sonic chao
"don't worry, sonic chao will return" shadow says
shadow chao looks at shadow and he had worry in his face but when he looks at shadow's eyes he can see trust and he smiles, shadow smiles back then he picks up the chao
"let's wait for him to come back" shadow says and they go to their spot on where they first met
with sonic and the doctor chao had rubbed some special cream on sonic chao chest and told sonic that it'll be fully gone by tomorrow which sonic was happy about, he then ran back to the hero chao garden and when he gets there he puts sonic chao where shadow and shadow chao was, shadow chao goes over to him and he looked worried
"don't worry, he'll be better by tomorrow so then you two can play again" sonic says comforting shadow chao
shadow chao looks at sonic then at sonic chao and he smiles, he then snuggles up to sonic chao and he goes to sleep
"...he really like your chao" shadow says as sonic sits next to him
"i think it's cause he sees him like a brother" sonic says "he's the first chao he ever met that wanted to be friends with him and he feels protected when around him as well as when he's with you or me"
"...if you say so" shadow says and he looks at sonic and shadow chao again "...is it normal to feel...like you wish you could of done something to provent it" he asked sonic
"yeah...i felt the same way when i saw my buddy injured and i still do" sonic says also looking at the 2 asleep chao
shadow and sonic stay quiet as they are trying to prosses what happened while amy left a while ago as she needed to check on some things, a while later sonic breaks the silients
"is shadow chao right?" sonic says making shadow look at him
"hmm?" shadow hums in confusion
"about me being a dad to sonic chao" sonic says "i mean i was there when he hatched and i did raise him but...i thought it was more of a pet/owner thing"
"...i think he was right" shadow says making sonic look at him
"really?" sonic says suprised
"sure, you care about him don't you? and you looked really worried when he fell over" shadow says in a serious yet comforting tone "that what a dad does with his child and i think you didn't realise you were being a father figure to sonic chao till shade pointed it out eariler"
sonic thinks about what shadow said and then he smiles at the black and red hedgehog
"well i think your a good dad to shadow chao" sonic says "i saw you hugging him eariler and it was cute...don't worry though i won't tell anyone" he says and he gives shadow a trust smile
shadow looks at sonic and he gives a smirk before looking at sonic and shadow chao again, a while later sonic and shadow end up falling asleep since sonic was to worried to leave sonic chao and shadow decided to keep him company, sonic was lying on his side with both hands under his head and he legs tucked in while shadow was kinda doin the same but with his hands lying nexts to him, sonic chao then wakes up and he looks around, he sees shadow chao next to his bed asleep and then he turns around to see sonic and shadow asleep
his tummy then rumbles as he realises he was starving so he gets up and he goes over to the fruit tree, he then grabs a fruit and he tucks into it, he then hears a noise and he looks to see shadow chao next to him
'hi, sleep well?' sonic chao asked and shadow chao nods 'good, how long was i asleep?'
'...a while' shadow chao says and he grabs a fruit since he was hungry too
they eat in silents and when they were done shadow chao looks at sonic chao
'is...sonic chao...brother?' shadow chao asks curious
'umm...no but we can be' sonic chao says happily 'i'll be happy to be your brother' he says then goes over to shadow chao and giving him a hug
shadow chao was shocked then he smiles and hugs back, after the hug sonic and shadow chao then go back to where sonic and shadow are sleeping and they go to sleep with sonic chao snuggled up to his dad and shadow chao snuggled up to his dad, they were all asleep and had a dreamless sleep, meanwhile in the dark chao garden and eggman was mad while all the dark chao were crying
"you idiots! you had them right there!" eggman says angry
'we're...we're sorry' the dark/neutral chao says upset
eggman then just turns his back on the chao and he crosses his arm still angry
"no matter, i have a plan b" eggman says and he pulls out a controller
he then pushes a button and then a thud was heard, all the dark chao look over and see a metal chao that looked like ohmochao but it was gray, had no key on its head but horns instade and looked very evil, the metal chao looks at the dark chao and they all run away scared after the metal chao spooks them
"hahaha! and to keep sonic and shadow busy" eggman says and he presses another button
then metal sonic appears and he looks at eggman, he then looks down and he sees the metal chao and the metal chao looks up at him
"hahaha!" eggman laughs evily and then he leaves
back in the hero garden a few hours later and sonic was the first to wake up, he opens his right eye to looks around then he sees and feels his chao hugging him on the chest, sonic smiles and he strokes the chao on the quills cauing sonic chao to stir, sonic chao then wakes up and he looks at sonic with a sleepy smile
"hello buddy" sonic whispers happily to see his chao "are you better?" he says as he sits up
sonic chao nods in response as he sits up too and sonic smiles
"good, i was worried" sonic says and he picks up his chao "you were really brave yesterday saving shadow chao like you did, i'm so proud of you" he says and he hugs sonic chao
sonic chao couldn't believe what he was hearing and it made him smile, sonic chao then hugs back and after the hug sonic looks around to see nobody looking and shadow still asleep before giving sonic chao a kiss on the head
"don't tell anyone i did that, it so unlike me but i did it for you" sonic whispers "cause i'm your dad and dads are meant to be embarrassing"
sonic chao then giggles and it made sonic smirk happily, the laugh sonic chao made makes shadow stir and he sits up while trying not to disturb his chao, he rubs his eye then he looks over at sonic with his chao in his arms holding him like a baby
"hmm...i see he's better" shadow says with a smirk
"yeah, that cream the doctor gave him did a really good job on that bruise" sonic says holding sonic chao up so he could look at his tummy seeing the bruise gone
shadow then feels his chao wake up and when shadow chao was awake he looks at shadow with a cute sleepy face
"morning sleepyhead" shadow says and he rubs his chao on the head
'hi...daddy' shadow chao says then he yawns and stretches
shadow smiles on how cute his chao was being and he pets his rubs the his chao's head making him wiggle
"i'm going to go for a run" sonic says putting his chao down next to shadow chao "can you look after him while i'm gone?"
"sure whatever" shadow says in his emotionless tone but with some care in it
"thanks buddy, see you" sonic says and he runs off
shadow chao, sonic chao and shadow watch as sonic speeds off and then sonic chao looks at shadow chao
"he can't keep still for longer then a sleep" shadow says with a smirk "cocky blue hedgehog" shadow thought
'do you wanna run around?' sonic chao asks shadow chao
'sure' shadow chao replies and they start to run off
sonic and shadow chao were running around playing tag, having races and being happy till shadow chao fell overly the marble floor by the lake, sonic chao went over and he was worried
'are you ok?' sonic chao asked worried
shadow chao then sits up and he had a red sore where he fell, he then starts to cry
'oh no! don't cry!' sonic chao says worried 'shadow!'
shadow heard his name from sonic chao and he runs over, he then sees shadow chao crying and he picks him up
'he fell over and banged his face on the floor' sonic chao explains as shadow looks at him not angry but concerned on what happened
"shh! it's ok" shadow says calming down his chao which seems to work
shadow chao then looks at shadow with tears in his eyes
'...daddy...hurt' shadow chao says upset
"i know, you fell over" shadow says comforting shadow chao like a baby "but it's ok, i'm here" he says and he kisses the spot where shadow chao fell "and i will make it better" he says stroking shadow chao's quills
shadow chao then looks at shadow again and he starts to cheer up, shadow kept petting shadow chao till the pain on shadow chao's face was not painful anymore and then shadow chao went back to playing with sonic chao, shadow then went back to where he was sitting and he watched the 2 chao play, a bit later sonic returned and he was talking with shadow on what he saw while he was running around while sonic and shadow chao were playing with a ball, as they were playing shadow stops as he notice something while sonic was still kicking the ball around, shadow notice that amy chao sitting there but she had flowers around
'...sonic?' shadow says and sonic chao comes running over
'what's up?' sonic chao replies looking at shadow chao
'...what...wrong...amy?' shadow says and sonic looked confused
sonic chao then looks over at amy chao and he realises what shadow was talking about
sonic chao was as confused as shadow chao but sonic chao didn't realise he was slowly walking towards amy chao
'...where...going?' shadow chao asks seeing sonic chao walk towards amy chao
'huh? oh!' sonic chao says snapping out of the trance he was in and going to shadow chao 'i don't know but...she looks...beautiful' he says and stares lovely at amy chao
shadow chao was so confused on what had gotten over sonic chao then he hears a noise behind him so he turns around to see amy
"oh! hi shadow chao, i see your getting over your shyness" amy says happily
shadow chao nods then points to amy chao
'...amy chao' shadow chao says and amy looks to her chao to then be shocked
"*gasp* she's ready to mate! aww!" amy says cuteing out
shadow chao now was really confused, what does 'mate' mean? and why is amy freaking out over it? (shadow chao is only a baby so he doesn't understand), amy then freaks out as she saw sonic chao looking at amy chao
"aww! that's adorable!" amy says cuteing out again
amy's shout caused sonic and shadow look at amy and sonic sees his chao and amy chao so he rolls over, he then snatches up his chao and goes back to shadow
"i'm not letting you mate!...not yet" sonic says to his chao as he holding up to his face '...i'm not ready to be a grandad, i'm to young' he thought
sonic chao looks at sonic then he gets guilty
"...it's not your fault" sonic says holding sonic chao like a baby "don't be sad, buddy" he says and he tickles sonic chao on the tummy making him laugh
shadow watches sonic with his chao then he looks over at his chao who was standing where he still was tilting his head confused, shadow then went over to his chao and he picks him up
"what's on your mind shade?" shadow says as he goes back to sonic and sits down next to him
'...what...mate?' shadow chao says confused
sonic and shadow looks at shadow chao and they gets uncomfortable
"you mean mating?...well...umm..." sonic says worried "well...when a mummy and daddy chao love each other very much, they...do a dance then...a egg appears" he explains while he had sonic chao on his lap
shadow chao still looked confused but he seems to understand
'...do...amy chao...be mummy?' shadow chao asks
"does amy chao want to be a mommy?" sonic says "umm...i think so and she wanted my buddy to be the dad but...he's to young to be one" he says as he looks at his chao who looked back confused
'i don't want to be a dad' sonic chao says 'i got you as my dad' he says pointing at sonic
"i know buddy" sonic says and he pets his chao "and i keep being your dad, no matter what happens" he says and he snuggles his chao which made sonic chao have a love heart appear
sonic chao laughs happily and shadow chao looks at shadow
'...will you...same?' shadow chao asks shadow
"...course i will shade, your are my chao and...i love you" shadow says picking up his chao and he whispers the last part
'love you...daddy' shadow chao says with a love heart popping up on his head and then hugs shadow where the fluff on shadow's chest was
shadow then smirks and then he hugs back while petting shadow chao's quills, meanwhile amy was watching everything as she was sitting with the tails and knuckles chao
'aww! sonic and shadow are being dads to their chao' amy thought 'that's so cute! this proves that my sonic will be a great dad in the future' then she goes into a daydream thinking of the what the child would look like
she didn't notice that cream came in the garden with cheese who was a lot better and then cream goes over to amy
"amy...amy!" cream says snapping amy out of her trance
"oh! hi cream" amy says happy to see her friend "didn't hear you come in"
"what were you thinking about?" cream asked confused
"oh nothing to bother you" amy says "you wanna buy some chao fruit from the market" she asks
"yeah! ok" cream says "you coming cheese...cheese?" she says and she realises cheese was gone
cream and amy look around for him and then he appears again
"oh cheese! where did you go?" cream says happy to see her chao
"hey! where did this egg come from?" amy says as she sees an egg where amy chao was
amy chao was behind amy wanting affection off her by rubbing herself on amy's leg, then sonic and shadow chao come over followed by sonic and shadow as they heard amy
"what's happening?" sonic asks curious
"this egg appeared out of nowhere" amy says pointing to the white egg with blue spots
shadow chao then goes over to the egg and he gets confused
'...what...that?' shadow chao asks comfused
"that's a chao egg, shadow chao" cream says picking up shadow chao "it's what baby chao appear out off"
shadow chao seems to understand then the egg starts to wobble, everyone steps back as the egg wobbles then it hatches, a chao pops out of it and the chao was a magenta colour with a pink ball on its head and blue eyes
"aww!" cream and amy go at the same time and then amy picks it up
"i'm going to take it to the doctor to find about her" amy says and she looks at cream "let's go"
"ok, see you later mr. sonic and mr. shadow" cream says and then the girls leave
"i'm going too" shadow says "to check on things, i'll be back though" he says looking at shadow chao
"ok i'll look after shadow chao for you" sonic says happily "is that ok with you buddy?" he asks shadow chao
shadow chao looks at shadow then at sonic and then he nods slowly
"ok!" sonic says and he picks up shadow chao "say goodbye to daddy shadow chao" he says causing shadow to blush in embarrassment
'...bye...' shadow chao says with a little wave
"...bye shade" shadow says and he rubs shadow chao on the head before taking off
when he leaves shadow chao looks at the door where shadow leaves from and then he starts to tear up which sonic sees
"hey don't cry buddy" sonic says as he hooded shadow chao like a baby "shadow will return, he got some things to do"
shadow chao calms down a little and he looks at sonic with tears still in his eyes
"don't worry, me and my buddy will keep you company till your dad returns" sonic says and he gives a warm smile
shadow chao thinks about it then he smiles back making sonic pet him, then shadow and sonic chao's tummies rumble loudly
"looks like you two are hungry" sonic says and he chuckles
then amy and cream return with a lot of fruit, they had round, square and triangle fruit and they put them on the floor, all the chao then come running over except shadow chao and pick up their favorites, sonic chao loved square fruit, amy chao loved round fruit, knuckles chao loved triangle fruit, tails chao loved round fruit like amy chao and cheese loved triangle fruit like knuckles chao, sonic comes over holding shadow chao and he set him down in front of a spare square, round and triangle fruit
"see which one you like" sonic says putting shadow chao on the floor
shadow chao looks at the 3 fruits then he goes to the square fruit since he saw sonic chao with that one, he tucks in and he enjoyed all of it, after they all ate they fell asleep with full tummies and the girls laugh
"hey where's that pink chao gone?" sonic asks as he picks up his chao and shadow chao
"oh we put her in the neutral chao garden since the doctor said she needed to be there" amy says
"ok...i guess" sonic replies and he goes over to the spot he usual sits at with 2 sleeping chao
when he gets there he puts sonic chao in his lap and shadow chao on the floor on some soft grass, he smiles at both chao since they looked cute asleep but then he feels coldness on him, he looks up to see shadow holding out a chillidog
"got this for you" shadow says
"aww thanks shadow!" sonic says after taking it from him "this is delicious" he says after taking a bite
"i asked cream's mother to help me since she stopped me after i grabbed my food" shadow says and he holds up a burger "and...i didn't know where to get one from"
"it's ok" sonic says "i say thanks to vanilla later" he says and tuck into his chillidog again
shadow then sees his chao asleep and he slowly picks him up, he then puts him on his lap then he tucks into his burger, a while later everyone was asleep even amy and cream, sonic was asleep on his side while sonic chao was snuggled up to him, shadow was lying agenst the wall with shadow chao lying on his chest using shadow's chest fluff as a pillow and shadow had his hand in shadow chao, amy was asleep with her head on cream's with her chao lying on her chest and cream was asleep with her head on amy's shoulder with cheese on her lap
as they were asleep they didn't hear eggman come in with the robot chao and metal sonic behind him, he then looks around to see everyone asleep and he smiles
"good everyone is asleep" eggman says quietly "now where's that chao?" he says looking around
metal sonic and the robot chao also look around then the metal chao spots shadow chao
"the dark/run chao has been located over there" the robot chao says and points to where sonic and shadow are asleep
eggman then sends metal sonic over and when he gets there he then spots shadow chao under shadow's hand, metal sonic then slowly takes shadow chao away from shadow without disturbing both of them and he manages to do it
'...daddy?...' shadow chao says still asleep then he goes quiet
metal sonic then brings shadow chao over to eggman and while he did sonic chao wakes up, he looks around then he notices shadow chao missing and then he sees eggman with him
'shadow chao!' sonic chao whispers and he gets off sonic carefully
after he did that he follows eggman, metal sonic and the robot chao to see where they were going with shadow chao which he ended up leaving the hero chao garden and entering the dark chao garden, when he gets to the dark chao garden he hides behind a gravestone and he sees eggman puts shadow chao in a cage that's in a tree
"that's should keep him there till he wakes up" eggman says and he walks away from the cage leaving metal sonic and the robot chao to guard it, sonic chao then zooms over as nobody was watching and he ends up hiding behind the tree, he then watches at he sees metal sonic watch the robot chao and the robot chao was dancing
"what are you doing?" metal sonic asked not angry but curious
"i am dancing" the metal chao replies and keeps dancing
"...why?" metal sonic asks
"music can be heared and i am dancing to it" the robot chao says and he keeps dancing
metal sonic then listens and he can also hear the music coming from the music box that's a few feet in front of them
"i understand what you mean" metal sonic says and he makes sure nobody was looking till he starts dancing
as they were dancing sonic chao looks over at eggman who was trying to stop the 5 dark chao from bulling each other and then he went to work, he came out from hiding and he tries to jump to see if he can reach the cage which he couldn't, he then sees a gravestone next to the cage and he climbs ontop of that, he then tries to jump again to see if he can grab the cage and he was just about to when he fell over causing eggman to look over and shadow chao to stir
"what are you 2 doing?!" eggman says seeing metal sonic and the robot chao dancing
metal sonic and the robot chao then stop dancing and continue to guard
"now don't do it again!" eggman says then he hears a yawn
he looks to see shadow chao has woken up and he was looking around
'...daddy?...' shadow chao says looking around for shadow '...daddy!...'
"well hello there" eggman says startling shadow chao "you dark/run chao that ran away from me"
'...daddy!....sonic!...' shadow chao says looking around scared and lost
"your 'father' won't save you now" eggman says evily "now do what i say or else"
shadow chao then starts to cry and he tears fell down his face, he missed shadow, sonic and sonic chao so much and he wanted to be with them again
'hey! let go of shadow chao!' sonic chao says coming out from behind the gravestone to face eggman
'well well well what do we have here" eggman says seeing sonic chao "aren't you perhaps that sonic chao that attacked my dark chaos a day ago" he says
'yes i am now give back shadow chao or else' sonic chao says point to eggman
'...sonic chao...' shadow says upset hearing sonic chao's voice
'don't worry shadow chao! i got this' sonic chao says and he spin dashes into eggman
"bah! robot chao attack him!" eggman shout and robot chao was on the case
'...daddy...' shadow chao says still upset
'ugh...don't worry shadow chao...we'll get you back to shadow and my dad' sonic chao says in between attacks
meanwhile at the hero chao garden and shadow wakes up hearing shadow chao voice, he looks around then he sees shadow chao is gone
"shade?...shadow chao" shadow says looking around to get no reply
"shadow...what's wrong?" sonic says as shadow woke him up
"shade is gone...and so is sonic chao" shadow says worried and he then notices sonic chao was gone
"huh?" sonic says and he looks to see shadow was right "buddy!" he calls but no reply
"i bet dr. eggman took them" shadow says looking at sonic
"he must of done it while we were asleep" sonic says looking serious "let's go find him!"
shadow nods and they go off to the dark chao garden, back in the dark garden and sonic chao was getting tired but he wasn't showing it
'is that all you got?' sonic chao says with a bit of a pant
the robot chao attack and so does sonic chao and they deflect each other causing sonic chao to hit the wall and the robot chao landing in the water, the robot chao then starts to spark as it doesn't know how to swim then it shuts down, sonic chao cheers then he sees shadow and sonic enter the garden
"eggman! give us our chao back you thief" sonic says pointing to the villian
"oh i will...if you defeat metal" eggman says and he sends metal sonic after sonic
shadow doughes out of the way as sonic and metal go head to head and then shadow goes for the chao, he attacks eggman causing him to be knocked out then he grabs his chao then sonic chao
'daddy!' shadow chao says happily on see shadow
'hey shade, you miss me?' shadow says and he snuggles his chao
shadow then bolts to the door and sonic follows not far after leaving metal sonic with a knocked out eggman, a shut down robot chao and 5 scared dark chao, metal sonic then goes in to the red water, picks up the robot chao then leaves the garden, back in the hero garden and shadow with sonic, sonic chao and shadow chao were glad to be away from the dark garden
"you ok?" shadow asks sonic
"yeah i'm fine, metal didn't do much to me" sonic says then he notices his chao "are you okay buddy?" he says taking his chao from shadow
'yeah...just...fine' sonic chao says tired out then he up at sonic 'thanks...dad' he says before going to sleep in sonic's arms
"looks like he's been though a war" sonic says looking at his sleeping chao "but it's over now...hopefully" he says then he goes over to sonic's and shadow's sitting spot and he puts sonic chao on the soft grass, shadow sits by sonic chao and he holds shadow chao like a baby
"i'll be right back" sonic says "got to check things" he says and goes off
shadow watches him go then he looks at his chao who was crying
"what's up shade?" shadow asks trying to calm his chao down
'it...it scary...you...gone...' shadow chao says upset
"shh, shh! it's ok" shadow whispers "i'm here now, don't cry" he says in a comforting tone and then he kisses shadow chao on the head
shadow chao then looks at shadow and he calms down
"i won't ever leave you ever again cause i...love you" shadow says to his chao "you are my chao and i won't let anyone harm you" he says in a confident voice
'...daddy...love you' shadow chao says and hugs shadow
shadow hugs back and a single tear falls from shadow's eye
'i'll protect you no matter what' shadow thought 'my one and only chao' and he then hugs a little harder
after the hug shadow and his chao smile at each other and then sonic comes back
"i've looked around and looks like metal sonic is gone and eggman is still knocked out" sonic says sitting next to shadow and his chao "i know he'll heal up, he's a brave chao...he's just like his dad"
"...true" shadow mumbles and sonic heard making him smile
sonic and shadow then just sit there and watch the world go by as sonic's chao recovers and shadow's chao stays close to his dad so he wouldn't lose him again.
