Day 11 - A song on the soundtrack of your favorite movie
Okay, Im going to cheat a little bit this round and choose 2 songs. BUT Let me explain why.
When it says "soundtrack" it can mean 2 different things. It could mean the OST of the movie which normally consists of just instrumentals throughout the movie, OR it could be a soundtrack based off the movie in which songs made for the movie, inspired by the movie, or fit the movie. Take The Giver for example, on iTunes they have 2 seperate soundtrack albums for the movie. One is the OST, the other is a compilation of songs by barious artists that fit the movies theme (Difference Maker by NEEDTOBREATH is one of the songs it makes me happy)
So for today, Im going to do one OST from one movie, and a song from another.
~First~
End Credits - The Giver
Dear god... The Giver, as Ive said before, is one of my all time favorite movies and the soundtrack is a big reason why in all honesty. Its almost difficult to pick a favorite from the movie, but in the end I just had to go with End Credits.
This track starts off with a solo cello playing the tune to Rosemary's Song (found within the movie, my personal FAVORITE scene) while a hauntingly beautiful choir accompanies. Before you know it you find yourself embraced by a full on orchestra playing this same tune, but oh how it sounds so elegant and strong! They make Rosemary's Song sound so gorgeous (though it already was) and take this fun, and at one point upbeat-ish song and turn it into the most beautiful and pleasant orchestral piece. I feel so bad for not listening to this more, Ill admit its been quite some time. Listening to it again now reminds me of how astounding the OST for this movie is, oh how I need to go back and listen to it again! Why, I even own it on Vinyl now... I should go do that~
Now for my second song!
Boogie Wonderland - Happy Feet
Oh. My god. I have never in my life heard a better re-make of a song than this. Normally when a movie re-makes or re-creates a song lets be real here, its not always great. It CAN be, but it not always is. But thIS.
This movie takes EVERY song it re-creates and re-imagines it to something glorious! Boogie Wonderland is no exception! As you can see, I added the direct clip from the movie. Why? Its simply the best and my favorite. I love EVERYTHING about it! The animation is so fluid and perfect like the rest of the movie, I love having the added in dialogue that you can sometimes hear throughout the song, and I just love its originality. Every single time I listen to this song wether its through this same clip or when watching the movie itself, I find myself singing and dancing to this song right along with the characters and I am not playing this up or joking one bit. I just cant help myself! The way Gloria sings it makes me want to sing too, its to perfectly delicate and quiet when it needs to be in the beginning, and when it escalates to a powerful and loud singing voice, she does so to where its just right and mimicking that is insanely fun! And oh man, I love the part that Mumble plays in all this. For those of you who haven't seen the movie, the whole point of it is Mumble cant sing in a world where singing is everything. But oH HE CAN D A N C E! Tap dance that is, but its still insane! When I said earlier I find myself dancing to this song, I mean that I am mimicking Mumbles tap-dancing as much as I am humanly capable of with my talent. Mumble's taps play an essential role in this song keeping up with the beat of the song and adding to it in ways that fit just right! He makes the song more fun and upbeat and oh how I love it! This song takes the cake for best re-created song in an animated movie EVER! Though almost all the songs in this film could!
