Day 16 - Something that you miss

Ever since I looked this list over, I knew what I wanted to talk about today.

Theres a lot in my life I could say I miss, but I want to talk about something that made me really happy when I was younger. Something I always had fun with.

This thing, is Club Awesome.

Now, I know none of you have heard of it and that would be for many reasons, but let me explain.

Years ago I had my phase where I would constantly listen to the radio, Christian Radio. I cant exactly pinpoint when it began but if Im right it was around 2010.

I remember in a previous challenge day I talked about how I got started listening to Air1, my favorite radio station, so Ill start from where I left off there.

Once I had found Air1, KLove was a thing of the past almost. I rarely listened to it, only when Air1 was down or momentarily when they were playing a song I didn't like, I had options. One of the things I loved most about this radio station was the hosts. I loved them all, Brenda, Ashton, the morning crew. But none other caught my attention more and made me laugh as much as Brant Hansen.

The Brant and Sherri show was always my favorite thing, and everyday I listened to Air1 during the times that they would come on air.

Brant did all sorts of silly and amazing things. Like... Brants Survival School for one thing. He would have callers on the air and ask them very silly survival questions, but in the end it actually was educational haha!

Brant was always doing fun things with us, he was a riot! But above all else, the best thing he did for us was this:

Every Friday from 3:00-3:30 (I think, anyway) he would host this thing on Air1 called Club Awesome. This is basically where for half an hour he would play nothing but remixes of Christian songs and upbeat fun to dance to music, starting it all off with Last Train to Awesometown.

It was a danceparty over the air and I LOVED it! You could call in and have pretty much anything you wanted added to Club Awesome, like I remember callers "adding in" a place to play with puppers! One time Madi and I tried calling in, but we didn't make it in unfortunately xD

I have vivid memories of dancing to Club Awesome with my cousin at our grandmas house while we were playing with our plastic MLP figures.

Club Awesome was the highlight of my week, and so was Brant, and when he left Air1 to work for CURE International I was heartbroken. Air1 wasn't ever going to be the same.

I think it was around this time that I gradually stopped listening to Christian Radio regularly, it just was too sad. I didn't like the guy who replaced Brant, and it wasn't the same.

Don't get me wrong, I still listen to Christian radio! But not daily like I used to. This event really made me expand my interests a bit and hey, I eventually found Avi, right?

To this day Brant is still one of the best people ever. I follow him on twitter, He's hilarious! He is the ONLY reason I want to get a Facebook so I can be updated with his nonsense. And he and Sherri have their own podcast! The Brant and Sherri Oddcast! I may have lost Brant on the air, but I still have him in many ways and he is still as awesome as ever.

He's even written two books entitled Unoffendable and Blessed are the Misfits! I love both books a lot and highly recommend them.

While I still miss Brant on Air1 and Club Awesome, I am and always will be incredibly thankful I got that time to have fun and be happy.
