"Hoseok?" Jungkook called out, wondering where his friend was this morning. He searched for him around the building, the place they've been recently staying since Jungkook's incident at the bookshop. He called out again but earned no response.
He wandered around, finding their new place creepy and uninviting. He came to the front offices, digging around drawers and finding nothing of interest. He whistled a random tune, a tune from a memory he couldn't remember.
He continued on aimlessly, far from where they settled their stuff. Something about offices left behind made him feel lonely, furniture that was just abandoned made him feel like he had been abandoned. He shook his head, he was being silly. He has Hoseok, he was just always busy.
He found a book, flipped through it and threw it back on the desk. Just a random book of office policy stuff that bore him. He cursed at Taehyung, the madman who had the intention of killing him. What the hell did he want from him and why? What made Jungkook special?
He scowled at the thought that he could never go back to the bookshop. Maybe he could find a place elsewhere, the city was big and there were so much of it he hasn't seen. He began humming, wondering what tune it was if it was a song he heard passing by some place. They had moved far from where they had first stayed, a small abandoned home in the "bad part" of town where most of the houses were abandoned or taken away by the city. The abandoned building they found was more isolated, away from the public. So far, Jungkook was sure the building was not regularly patrolled either, so he was free to walk around without worry.
He huffed loudly, bored and annoyed. He wouldn't admit out loud, but he missed Hoseok but he was hardly around, and he was the only person who he knew. Except for psycho Taehyung who probably wouldn't hesitate to kill him the next time he found him. And what the hell was that? "I like this game" Taehyung had said.
His mind began to wander, thinking of the grey-haired boy when he found a newspaper stuffed between desks. He picked it up, thinking of what events were happening at that time it came up. He looked at the year, it was dated almost ten years ago.
He began reading it from the front pages, eyes widening with wonder when he saw the large printing that read "MISSING CHILDREN."
He was immediately sucked in and read the three-page article, reading about children ages around 5 to 10 went missing from public places like schools and shopping centers and most of them were taken from their homes or orphanages. One of them particular read that one child had been offered and sold for a large sum of money and the parents were charged with child endangerment and kidnapping.
There were a few leads, all of them ultimately leading nowhere.
He jumped up from the seat and ran to their little living space. He ran straight to the Hoseok's laptop and opened it. But what he didn't know was that since they moved, they didn't have internet and Jungkook was oblivious. He grew angry, trying to figure it out how to use nearby connections and failing. He would have to wait for Hoseok to return. But right now, Jungkook needed to find a place where he could use a computer. This was the only thing keeping him from going insane.
He fell back onto his back and groaned in annoyance, he was going to go mad from loneliness and boredom. He wasn't just bored, he needed to find out more about the missing children - something in him telling him to find out more information.
