I felt her power. We all did. That's how we knew she was coming. She was the seventh member of the circle, completing it. I didn't care much, as Diana was just gonna try to force the binding on her, which would make her freak out.
I don't really care about much these days. I try not to anyway. I only care for one thing, one person, Nick. He's my best friend. He's all I really have.
My mother died in the fire at the boatyard, much like a lot of other people. My dad wasn't there that day, he and my mom had gotten into a fight the day before and he didn't see her. I think that's what broke him. The last words he had said to her was that he was taking me and we were gonna live without her. I guess that came true. I was only three months old at the time so I didn't really know what my dad use to be like, but now he's just an ass that likes to pummel me when he's not fucking some random chick.
I stared at my reflection in my body length mirror and smirked. I wore a black skull Thrasher t-shirt tucked into a black ripped jean skirt and a belt. I paired it with thigh high black boots, left my dirty blonde hair slightly curly, and natural makeup. I grabbed my black leather bag, phone, and keys before walking out of the house, passing by my dad who was assed out on the couch. I hopped into my matte black Jeep and took off to school.
When I got there I could already feel the new girl's presence. A specialty of mine was auras and detecting the work of magic, it's just something I was born with and magnified with the help of my family's book of shadows. The rest of the circle doesn't know I found mine and I plan to keep it that way.
I made my way inside and went straight to Nick's locker. I got there right as he started shoving random things into it.
"Hey, Pupper." I smile at him, leaning against the locker next to his. 'Pupper' was the nickname I gave to him when we were younger because he was obsessed with dogs while I was with cats. Eventually, he fulfilled the name as he often times looks like a dog after getting kicked, except he looks like that all the time.
"Hey, Kitty." He looks me up and down before turning to his locker again. I smile and opened my mouth to talk when emo boi, aka Adam, arrived and cut me off.
"Hey, have you seen her yet?" I haven't seen her yet but Nick must have as he lives next door to her grandmother.
"She got in yesterday." He spoke dully as he closed the locker.
"And?"
"She got in yesterday." He turned and threw his arm over my shoulders and started walking me to my own locker.
A lot of people misunderstand us. They think we're dating or friends with benefits but we never went close to anything like that. After I told him all about Jake, he would always be with me, protecting me as I did him.
"Cute outfit, Kitty." He smirked down at me making me laugh.
"Oh, whatever."

I walked into the boathouse after ditching Nick to make his deals when I saw Cassie, the new witch, sitting all by her lonesome. I smirk before walking over and sitting across from her.
"Cassie." She looked at me strangely but I continue to smirk. "Blonde, blue eyes, pretty. Typical new girl."
"Excuse me." She seems offended. Oops.
"I'm Aria Stone." She nods slightly. "I heard about your mom, mine's dead too." Before she could respond, Adam walked over and placed a menu and glass of water in front of her.
"You know, I saw you at school today." He spoke to her smoothly making her smile. I almost gagged. "How was your first day?"
"It's not over yet. I'll get back to you." He laughs while I roll my eyes.
