I walked into the school wearing a black tee with the 'V' neck cut out, tied in a knot at the center, with high waisted black spandex leggings and all black Nike's. Leaving my hair slightly curled with natural makeup.

I met up with Nick, I was waiting for him, making us officially late for first period. We were walking down the hall when we found Melissa on the ground groaning in pain.

"Oh, my god." I say as we rush forward.

"Melissa. Are you okay?" Nick asks, placing a hand on her back when we reach her. She slowly lifts her head and gets up turning to us.

"Nick." She says oddly calm. I feel an extra power source rush through me quickly but shrug it off when Nick responds.

"Yeah, Nick. Are you alright?" He asks her.

"I'm fine. But I need your help. Both of you, actually." She says while glancing back at me. I stood slightly behind Nick so they could talk.

"What?"

"I found my family's book of shadows." She says making me smirk slightly.

"Seriously?"

She hums while nodding. "But I don't want the others to know." My smirk widens. "You would have told Aria anyway so..." she trails off.

"Where'd you find it?" He questioned, eager about the idea of new spells.

"I was looking for a necklace in my mom's stuff and I found her diary. She writes all about hiding our family's book in the forest for protection. Will you help me find it?" She asks strangely.

"It'd just be for us?" He asks.

"And me?" I raise an eyebrow. She nods at me.

"Just us? Doing our own spells? That could be fun." He agrees.

"Our secret."

Nick was digging in the middle of the woods, trying to find where Melissa's mother hid their book while I stood holding his jacket and Mel just watched. I could tell he was getting tired as the hole was already deep enough that his hips were at ground level.

"You must have read it wrong. There's nothing down here." He says, pausing to breathe.

"Trust me. It's there." She states roughly.

"I am done. I'm about to pass out." He responds.

"Stop being such a wuss and dig." She glares at him making me step forward.

"I can take over. You can have a break." I say but he only shakes his head and moves to shovel more dirt away.

The second he digs the shovel into the ground, the sound of it hitting something draws everyone's attention to it. Nick sets the tool down before digging the rest of the way with his hands only to uncover a leather suitcase. He pulls it up with a grunt and places it at our feet.

"What the hell? This thing weighs a ton." I feel a dark power overcome my body and look at the suitcase strangely. "Are you sure the book's in there?"

"This is exactly what we're looking for." Melissa says with a strange glint in her eye making me step back slightly.

When we get to the abandoned house, we place the suitcase on a circular table in the center of the room. We stared at it for a few minutes before Nick broke the silence.

"Come on." He says. "Well, lets just open it." He reaches for the lock but Melissa slaps his hand away.

"No, don't touch it." She scolds.
