Curse [17]

When I woke up the next morning, Jake was still asleep. It was somewhat early so I decided to leave him be. I got up and put my clothes back on before quietly tip toeing out of the house. I keep my healed booties off until I'm in my Jeep.

As I'm driving off, I look at Cassie's house and see probably a hundred dead crows in her yard. I look at them confused before shrugging and taking off.

When I got home, I quickly changed into a black, long-sleeved crop top and black ripped jeans with a small belt. I did natural makeup and put my hair in a cute, messy pony. By the time I finished putting on my black pumps, Faye sent me a text and told me to meet her at the Java Brew.

When I got there, I met up with said girl and Melissa outside before walking in together. "She threw it at my head." She explains what had happened when she went to see Lee. Apparently, Eva, Lee's ex, was there and threw a vase at her when Faye went to look for him. "That girl has serious anger issues."

"Which girl?" Diana asked once she joined us.

"Faye had a run in with Eva." Melissa explains.

"She almost killed me." Faye exaggerates as we all sit down. Me next to her while the other girls are across from us. "She claims Lee left town. I think she did something to him."

"The guy got stuck between you and his ex during casino night. Maybe he just bailed." Melissa tries but Faye quickly shot her down.

"Then why is his car still here?" She asks.

"Took a cab?" Diana chimes in.

"No way. He worships that car. He thinks it makes him look badass."

"Did you ask Axel? I'm sure he knows where his brother is." I say and turn to Faye.

"You didn't hear?" She turns to me making me confused. "Axel left. Moved in with his grandparents in the state over. After you left him at Callum's party he got all sad and mopey." She explains. "Lee hasn't been able to reach him." She says but pauses. "We need to search it."

"Search what?" I ask.

"Lee's car." She exclaims.

"That's illegal, Faye." Diana says to her.

"Not if we don't get caught."

"That's not how that works." I smirk at her.

"Are you sure this is about Eva?" Melissa asks her.

"What did I just say?" She asks her best friend.

"It's just.." She pauses. "We both know how obsessed you can get about a guy. Maybe you're over reacting."

"You weren't there, Melissa." Faye tells her. "Eva was hiding something from me. Behind those doll eyes and creepy voice." She looks at us when we don't believe her. "When do I ever ask you guys for help?"

The three of us sigh.

The circle all met up at the abandoned house, other than Jake. He must still be home.

"Who'd you piss off now?" Faye questioned Cassie as she was the one that asked us all here.

"It was before our time. A witch put a curse on our families." She explained.

"What kind of curse?" Diana asks.

"Apparently to keep our families from coming together." Adam answered.

"Last night..." Cassie hesitated. "We activated it."

My jaw drops and I let out a laugh. I can't stop and double over. "My god." I gasp out. Faye stops herself from laughing by slapping a hand over her mouth while Diana looks down.
