Kabanata 22

Nakarating kami sa Davao ngayon ng safe, pero my mood is still at the same stage. Annoyed and mad. I didn't know na si Azrael pala yung client 'tsaka hindi nila sinabi sa akin, baka siguro yun lang ang paraan para sumama ako sa kanila.

Nag check in kami sa Marco Polo Hotel and same room kami nina Jeanine, Lindsay and Kath. Three rooms all in all yung pina reserve para sa 9DG but all expenses paid, bahala siya kakainin ko lahat ng pagkaing i s-serve. Hindi rin naman ako ang magbabayad.

"Ina, function room raw lahat para sa orientation. You know, debut yung first event natin today." Nagkibit-balikat lang ako at sumabay na sa kanila.

We rode an elevator papunta sa lobby. Nung narinig na namin ang ding, lumabas na kaming lahat tsaka dumiretso sa nasabing room, and walah! Nakikita ko na siya. He's standing there, facing the gigantic glass window. But when he heard the door open, lumingon na siya and smiled. Jerk.

"Ahh! Welcome, have a seat and we shall begin this." Umupo ako sa pinaka dulo ng long table and nagsimula na nga ang orientation namin. It's still 3 in the afternoon and 8 pa sa gabi yung debut kaya here we are.

"So, thank you guys for accepting my offer wholeheartedly. Hindi ko inaasahan na tatanggapin niyo ito ng ilang saglit lang. Kaya, we really appreciate it."

Tumikhim ako kaya all of them stared at me. I only raised my eyebrows and nagpatuloy nalang si Azrael sa pagsasalita. We were given a playlist for the night and I admit na it was pretty good. But what's not good is we only have 2 hours para mag rehearse, kasi mag aayos pa kami, then mag p-prepare pa sa venue and all of that kaya two hours nalang yung natira.

Natapos rin ang meeting within an hour. I memorized the first set tsaka dumiretso sa aming kwarto para makapaghanda na ng aking susuotin. But when I got there, an outfit is already sitting neatly sa aking kama. Meron din itong note doon.

I only shrugged at it and kinuha yung aking gitara, sitting there with it's black stand. Muli kong binasa ang playlist para mamaya. I know na hindi ko naman kailangang mag gitara kasi lead singer, that's what they always say. Pero gusto ko eh, kaya tutug-tug ako mamaya.

Nakasuot na ako sa outfit na pinili nila kanina. Wow ha, may taga pili na pala ako ng masusuot ngayon, sosyal! It's a pastel pink long sleeve shirt, white mini skirt na medyo flowy and may laces at white na high heels. It's a vintage outfit kasi vintage yung napiling theme.

It's still 6:30 pero pinahanda na kami sa susuotin para raw ready na lahat. Even my hair and makeup are ready. Today, nakakulot yung tips ng hair ko and I'm wearing a very light makeup.

Sabay kaming apat na lumabas at dumiretso sa venue. This is grand! Sa isang corner, may mini kalesa na naka display for photos daw. Tapos, yung cake ay may 8 layers. Everything that is sitting on the tables are glass. At syempre, may malalaking chandeliers rin sa ceiling. Every table ay may souvenirs na.

Tinawag na kami and started practicing the songs. This is the first time na mag p-perform kami na hindi sa bar ni Dash. Quite nerve wrecking to be honest. The practice was perfect kasi kabisado na naming lahat ang songs, kaya madali ang pag r-rehearse.

Eight o'clock came. Guests have arrived, the event planners are running around finalizing everything. Nasa kabilang corner kami, across sa photo booth. The debutante came looking so gorgeous, and we started singing Lemonade.

Lumipas ang oras and we are down with our last song; By Chance (You and I) it was for the 18 roses part. Her last dance was her dad though, and it was a sight to see. Pagkatapos, I didn't realize na pumapatak na yung luha ko. But I was glad na tapos na kami.

"Ina, are you okay?" Kinalabit ako ni Katherine, tumango ako sa kaniya.

"Oo, I think I need some air. Excuse me." Siya naman ang tumango ngayon at dumiretso sa balkonahe. Hindi ko alam kung bakit ako umiiyak. Is it because I find it sweet? Ang oa ko naman siguro..

"Umiiyak ka na naman no?" I wiped the tears quickly and faced whoever is speaking. Sabi ko na nga, si Azrael as usual.

"Hindi no." Umiling lamang siya 'tsaka ngumiti. Siraulo.

"You can't fool me. Tingnan mo oh, your makeup is ruined because of those tears. Huwag mo na yun iyakan, sinasayang mo lang luha mo." He offered me a handkerchief, which I gladly accepted.

"Alam mo, even though you're such a jerk I didn't know you would still care."

Nagkibit-balikat lang siya and pinagmasdan ang kalangitan. I did the same and we stayed like that for a while. Wala akong alam kung paano nangyari but all I could see now is that he's kissing me and to my horror, I'm kissing him back.

Tinulak ko siya at umiling. "Shit." Pumapatak nanaman ang luha ko ngayon and I ran as fast as I can patungo sa aming hotel room.

Ricci's P.O.V

Kamusta na kaya siya doon? She hasn't tweeted though, alam ko namang tapos na yung klase nila tapos 2 months ang break. Though, I promised na tatawag ako muli, I can't.

Nandito ako sa Starbucks ngayon, nag ch-chill lang. You know para makapag break muna sa school works. 24 hours sila kaya dito ako tumatambay, or minsan sabay ng barkada.

It's too boring today because it's 10 pm now, and wala nang tao besides sa akin at sa isang lalake na nag l-laptop. Kaya, I pulled out my phone and logged in to Twitter.

Scroll lang ako ng scroll but I stopped when I saw 4 pictures. Pictures nila Ina and Azrael sa balcony. Sa last two pictures, they're kissing and that's where I lost hope. Maybe they're still together.

Pinatay ko na yung phone ko and finished my drink. Nung palabas na ako sa store, a familiar face greeted me. It was Ellie. I was shocked at what she did. Which is to kiss me. Why the hell would she do that?!

"Cci, I'm saying yes! I love you." My eyes widened. Both shocked and happy. Nakalimutan kong nanliligaw ako kay Ellie! I smiled at her resembling my happiness. Well, it's over. I need to move on and forget her now. Even if it would hurt me a thousand times. I need to forget my best friend.
