Ch. 18

Allison's POV

I opened my eyes, and I saw a bright light. I rubbed them and j was in a room. I looked around and saw my mom in a chair, her eyes were red and she had tear stains on her face. She was sleeping, and she was holding Johnny who was sleeping too.

I think I made noise because my mom opened her eyes and when she saw me, tears formed in her eyes and she had a smile on her face. She slowly got up, trying not to wake up Johnny, but he woke up anyways.

"Alli!!!" He yelled. He jumped onto my bed and hugged me. I kissed the top of his head, my mom came and she kissed my forehead. "I'm so glad you're awake."

She hugged me and my dad came in, having a smile on his face, while Tracy, Dylan, and Max came in. Everyone came to hug me or plants kisses on top of my head. But my smile disappeared when he came in. Everyone scooted over, while my mom and dad were still next to me.

"I just wanted to see if she was okay." He came to me with a smile and kissed the top of my head. "Could everyone leave me alone with him, please."

They all started to leave except for my mom and dad. "Mom, dad." Mom took Johnny off my lap and they both left. There was a silence until I broke it.

"I just want you to answer one question." I said. "Alright."

"Why did you leave me. Why did you run away?" He took a deep breath and started to answer my question.

"I was afraid. I thought that I wasn't ready to take a big step like that. I wasn't prepared."

"How could you not be prepared while my mom was. How was she ready to take a bug step and you weren't?!"

"I don't know, I didn't feel ready.'

"Is Gina really my half sister?"

"Yes." he said quietly. I closed my eyes, my own sister shot me. She didn't even care if we had the same freaking blood!

Everyone came in, I tried to fight the tears coming out of my eyes. My mom talked to Mark, and he said goodbye. Johnny had jumped on my legs, and supposedly it was going to hurt.

"Johnny! Are you okay?" My mom asked me. I was looking at my legs, I tried to move them but they didn't.

"Allison, are you okay?" My mom asked in worry. "I can't move my legs! I can't move them!" I yelled. Tears came out of my eyes, I touched my legs, I pinched them but I felt nothing.

"Calm down!"

The doctor came in, he touched my feet, to see if I could feel anything, but with every touch, every pinch, I couldn't feel anything!

"She paralyzed, but it's temporary." He said.

"Allison, calm down! He said its temporary." My mom said. Tears still came out, everyone trying to calm me down, but it wasn't worth trying.

I was in my room, sitting in a wheelchair, staring out the window, in the guest room. I couldn't go upstairs, so I had to stay in the guest room downstairs. I heard a knock on the door, and my mom and in holding a cup.

"I thought you wanted some tea." she put it down in the desk and came to me. "You're gonna be fine hon." I didn't respond, she kissed my cheek and left the room. I heard another knock, and I saw Max come in with Tracy and Dylan.

"Hey." They all said. "Hey." I said quietly. They all stayed for a few hours until Tracy and Dylan had to leave but I thanked them for coming, while Max stayed.

"So, let me get this straight. Gina is your sister?"

"Half." I rolled the wheels to the wheelchair and I sat next to the bed. "And she shot you."

"Yep, now I'm paralyzed because of that idiot."

"The doctor said it was gonna be temporary, you'll be able to walk soon." I turned my head around and u faces him. A tear escaped my eye. he wiped it away with his thumb. He started to lean in, and I got butterflies in my stomach. Our lips connected, and I was on cloud nine.

A few months later

I was in treatment right now. My specialist Martha was helping me do some exercises. I took a deep breath and moved my leg, a smile appeared on my face while my parents were glad that I could move my feet again.

I grabbed on to the railing and walked, at first it was hard, but a little more practice and I could walk. I still wasn't ready to walk fully, so I had to use crunches to support myself.

Martha had told me that I did a lot of progress today, so she said I could go. "So, you happy?" My mom asked.

"I've never been happy before." I responded. My mom was driving me to school, we had treatment really early, so school was next. "Have fun." I nodded, but I didn't think I could have fun at school.

I was walking to my locker when I saw Tracy and Dylan. "Hey." they both said in unison. "Hi."

I opened my locker and got my stuff for my next few classes when Max came. A smile crept to my face, he came to me and pecked my on my lips. Max had asked me to d his girlfriend, and I said yes.

"I see we're all happy." Tracy said. We all laughed and we decided to goto the PE field so we could take some fresh air. We were all sitting on the bleachers, talking and my head was relaxing on Max's shoulder. Nothing could ruin this.

And I spoke to soon. I was about to turn around when I heard a gun shot. I flinched and saw a person laying on the grass, in front of us. I got up and walked up to him. And when I saw him, tears formed in my eyes. I kneeled down to him, and saw his emerald eyes.

"D-Dad." I stuttered out. He had blood all over his shirt, laying my hands on hai wound. "I-I lo-love y-you." Those were his final words. Those final words changed my way to think about him, changed my way of living.

I passed my hand over his eyes, and closed them. I cried onto his chest, not caring of getting his blood on me. Tracy was calling 911, but it was too late. He was already gone, and I never got to tell him that I loved him.
