I stand there in shock.
"What?!" I say, "How?!"
"He was fighting in combat and he didn't know that there was someone behind him, and they shot him. He died but told me to tell you that even if he knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, or that he'd die, he would still plant an apple tree just to make sure you were happy." Carliale tells me. "I'm your new guard."
Tears forming in my eyes, I mutter a thank you and close the door.
"I'll see you in the morning!" he shouts through the door.
I slide down the door, meeting the floor at the bottom. I let the tears fall and cry my eyes out. I get up and call Mrs. Brown, telling her that I'm sick and can't go downstairs tomorrow.
"Ok," Mrs. Brown says, "We'll send up all of your meals."
"Ok thank you so much!" I say.
After I'm off the phone, I walk over to my bathroom and go and shower. I get into the shower and think about Neveni's body, lying motionless, and not moving, and that makes me have to run to the toilet and throw up into it. After cleaning up my throw up, and taking my shower, I change into pj's, brush my teeth, and jump into bed.
Doing all of that distracted me, now, with no distractions, I remember why I was in the first place and start crying again. How could he die? He was just here! I think about what the guard said that Neveni had said,
"Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, or that I would die, I would still plant my apple tree for you."
The tears fall harder and faster now, and I let them. If Neveni died, what's going to guarantee that I won't? The tears fall, and everything gets blurred together. Eventually, my eyes close, and I drift off into a horrible, sad dream.
Heyy! I'm sorry this chapter is so short, and I'm sorry you're mad at me, but it had to happen in the story to get it to move along. I'm sorry! Besides, I wrote that yesterday when I was crying my eyes out, and there was nothing that I could think of that could've been happy. Once again, IM SORRY!!!!!!!!!
