Self-Worth and Self-Esteem

Before my 'research' today, I thought that self-worth and self-esteem were totally different things. However, I was proved wrong.

What I learnt through this research was that self-esteem is, basically, your feeling or sense of self-worth. It's believing in yourself - thinking you can do something instead of doubting yourself. It's feeling proud of yourself and acknowledging your achievements. It's how you feel and view yourself as a person.

Personally, I think self-esteem and self-worth are so important in life. Without good self-esteem, you struggle to push yourself as far as you can. You tend to feel bad about yourself for the littlest things. You may lack confidence. Feeling that you aren't good enough.

How do I know this? Because I've been there, like many other people. Raising your self-esteem and self-worth is a slow, gradual process, but it's one of the best things that can happen to you.

You'll push yourself more. You'll feel braver. You'll feel more confident and believe in yourself more. Most importantly, you'll get more out of life than what you would before.

Whilst researching, I found a good link which explains self-esteem well and has good tips to help improve your self-esteem:

What I struggled with when I had low self-esteem was the feeling that I was alone. However, so many other people in this world have experienced and still are experiencing exactly the same thing. There's always someone you can talk to.

Don't feel the need to be perfect. To really develop your self-esteem, you have to accept yourself for who you are. I'm learning to love my clumsy, awkward, 16-year-old self. When you love yourself, you learn to appreciate everything around you.
