Daisy's P.O.V.
I ran down the sidewalk that lead to my house. I didn't even wait for Chosen. But Jack and Chosen knew to meet up at my house.
I ran into the house. I felt like telling my mom. She would know what to do, she would know how to help.
"Mom!" My voice echoed through the hall. "Mom!" I yelled again. Silence.
I ran into her room. She wasn't there.
I put down my stuff and walked into the kitchen. She wasn't there either. I looked out the door where the backyard is connected to.
She was on the phone.
She seemed stressed, pacing back and forth, biting her fingernails.
I listened in. "That seems impossible, it can't really be that long." She paused. "Are you sure that's the only way?"
What the hell is she talking about?
"No." She said in a demanding tone. "She would never do it. Never. There has to be another way." She halted.
Was she talking about me? And to who? And what do they want me to do?
"Alright. Keep me updated." She said before hanging up.
I don't know why but I ran off, I felt like I wasn't supposed to listen in on the conversation. I was gonna see if she was gonna tell me anything on her own, before confronting her about it. Even if I do confront her about it.
I went to my room and closed the door, and heard her close the back door and walk into the kitchen.
I took a deep breath before yelling, "Mom, I'm home!" I ran to the kitchen and saw her grabbing from stuff out of the fridge.
He smiled and looked at me, with leftovers in hand.
"Hi mija, how was school?" She asked.
I sat down on one of the stools by the counter and said, "It was fine, nothing really new." I fiddled with my fingers. "Anything new?" I asked.
She looked at me confused and said, "Actually yes," Maybe she was gonna tell me about the phone call, "I am taking an extra shift at work for some extra money. Have some leftovers."
I looked at the food, old pasta. Guess she wasn't gonna tell me.
"Alright." I simply said.
She whipped around the counter, and gave me a swift hug, and grabbed her purse.
"I'll be back late tonight. See you soon. Love you," She rushed out the door, it closing abruptly leaving me in silence.
I sat there for a minute and stared at the food. I knew I wasn't gonna eat it, but I also knew my body needed something. I had a banana this morning that I somehow managed to keep down, but other than that I haven't eaten all day.
It's like the food was mocking me, something that had more meaning than me. I pushed it away, the plastic tub making a smooth sound while rubbing up against the wood counter.
I ran to the window and looked outside. No sign of Jack or Chosen.
I checked my phone to text them both.
I waited a bit to see if they were gonna text back. No response.
I sat down on my couch, confused. School ended 15 minutes ago, they should be on their way.
My phone vibrated suddenly, taking me out of my thoughts. I saw it was a call from Chosen.
I picked it up quickly, "Hello?"
"Daisy! Get to the school quickly!" He said, sounding worried.
"Why?" I asked.
"Just come!" He shouted but then was cut off by the call ending.
I put my phone in my pocket and ran out of the house, heading for the school.
