Several days had passed since that little monster encounter.
Several days passed, and yet, no word from Saya.
It was a sunny day in City Z. Our two heroes were at home, lounging around.
Genos was washing the dishes and as he was doing so, he kept glancing up and looking into the living area.
There, Saitama was sitting, watching the news, as usual.
"Isn't there any monsters to report or something? Hanging around the house is getting pretty boring," Saitama uttered to himself.
Genos, however, heard his Master and replied, "I understand your concern, Master. There has been an unusual decline in activity in the area, of late."
Saitama looked over to his cyborg roommate, "What do you think it is? Someone strong taking care of them?"
Genos put down the last plate and walked into the living area, "That is a good question. However, if that were the case, it would have been reported on the news. Still, it is rather strange."
Saitama looked back at the television, thinking over if he had heard about this over the news. Nothing came to mind.
Genos then suggested, "Perhaps, we can go to the Hero Association and see if they are aware."
"Maybe," Saitama answered and he stood on his feet, "We should go, now. There's another sale at the store today and I don't want to miss it."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>As planned, they both went to the Hero Association, and what was discussed yielded little results. In fact, even they hadn't really noticed until Genos and Saitama brought it to their attention. The only thing they could tell them was that they'll try to keep a close eye on this. In mild disappointment, they were on their way out of the building.
"Well, so much for that. If this keeps up, I might just die of boredom," Saitama relayed to the quiet cyborg as they walked down the hall.
Genos didn't say much, but as they were walking down, a door a little ways from them had opened.
A worker of the building had opened the door and held it for someone to leave.
"Thank you for coming in and giving us details about your incident," the worker said. Then, out walked Saya.
She gave the worker a nod.
Genos noticed her before Saitama had, "Master, it is Ms. Saya."
"Huh?" Saitama looked in the same direction and actually smiled upon seeing his new friend. He raised his arm to flag her down, "Hey! Saya!"
"Hm?" Saya turned to the voice and have a small smile, "Saitama, Genos!"
Saya walked over, greeting the two.
Saitama replied first, "Kind of weird, seeing you here. How are you holding up?"
"That is right. Last we heard from you, you said you were recovering from that attack," Genos included.
Saya responded, "Yes, I was. The hero association contacted me, though. They heard that you saved me, Saitama, so they asked me to make a full report of the encounter."
Saitama was kind of surprised, "You gave me credit for saving you?"
Saya turned to him, a soft smile and gaze, "Well, of course. You grabbed me and took me to safety before punching that monster into oblivion. Anyone with some sense would give a hero, like you, the rightful credit you deserve."
Saitama didn't know how to response, until Genos brought him back to his senses, "Master, why is your face turning red?"
That's when he realized how hot his face felt and he immediately tried to disregard this sudden feeling of embarrassment, "What?! There's nothing wrong, my face is always like this!!"
Saya seemed oblivious, at first, but noticed that he turned red. She then replied, "It's alright to be flattered, there's no need to be embarrassed by an honest compliment."
Saitama gave her a side glance, a questionable expression laced with embarrassment on his face.
Genos looked between them, and that's the most expressive he's seen Saitama. He's rarely seen his master so flustered. It was fascinating.
"I'm doing much better, just to answer your question, Saitama. I've actually been meaning to call so we can hang out," Saya told him.
Saitama stammered, still very flustered, but Genos had spoken up for him, "Master would like that very much, Ms. Saya. He had been concerned since he had brought you home and had been awaiting a call from you."
"Genos!!" Saitama yelled at him, his embarrassment growing, "Don't promise anything for me! We still have shopping today!"
"I can do the shopping, Master, while you and Ms. Saya can spend some time together," Genos proposed.
Saya can clearly see that Saitama was going to die of embarrassment, so she stepped in.
"Genos, how about you head on home and prepare for dinner? Saitama and I will take care of the shopping," Saya suggested.
Genos' eyes widened, "That is an even better idea. Very well, I shall head home, then."
"We'll call when we've finished," Saya waved goodbye as Genos headed back to the apartment.
Once he had gone, Saitama slumped in relief, "Thanks for that, but unfortunately, I don't have my coupons for the sales today."
In response, Saya had pulled out two catalogs of coupons, "Don't worry. I got you covered."
Saitama blinked at the one catalog she gave him and looked at her, "Wow, this could last me a few months. Where'd you even get these?"
Saya just smirked, "A couponer has their ways."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The supermarket was bustling with shoppers, some were even arguing over products and such.
Saitama and Saya, though, didn't have that problem. Saya was able to help Saitama navigate around everyone to get the best quality items for good prices.
By the end of it all, they got away with a great haul. Although, Saya couldn't carry all of her things, so Saitama offered to help her back to her place. While walking to her flat, they were having a very interesting conversation.
"You used to outrun all the guys in your school? Have you ever thought of running in marathons?" Saitama asked.
"No, I always found marathons kind of boring. Besides, the last time I ran one, a drunk bystander tried to stop me so their lazy kid could win. Didn't work out in their favor, though. They got tackled by police," Saya chuckled at the memory, "You know, that training regimen you have doesn't sound too hard. It's hard to believe you've gotten so strong from just that. I bet I can do it."
Saitama smirked, "Fine, if you want your hair to fall out, then by all means, give it a try."
Saya then let out a giggle, and Saitama immediately went red, 'Her giggle…it's cute…'
Just then, they had made it to her flat once more.
Saya took her shoes off by the door, alongside Saitama, "Leave your groceries in the hall. We don't want a repeat of last time, do we?" she lightly teased.
Saitama then rubbed his head sheepishly, "Yeah, sorry about that. Didn't mean to wake you so late."
"It's fine, I wasn't even asleep when you knocked at my door. Honestly, I thought you'd forget about meeting me. I'm glad your stomach remembers more than your head," Saya joked as she put her groceries away.
Saitama grumbled as he handed her the last of her bags, "I don't have good memory, not my fault."
"Well, thanks again with my bags. I wouldn't have been able to bring all this back with me. Saves me extra trips to the supermarket," Saya, at that point had turned to face Saitama.
"It's no problem. I actually like hanging out with you," Saitama said bluntly.
There was silence, it was now Saya who was blushing.
Then, Saitama asked, "Wanna come over to my place for dinner? It's the least I can do, I mean, you shared your coupons with me, again."
Saya looked down, hiding her face before nodding, "I'd like that."
Saitama smiled, "Let's go. Don't wanna keep Genos waiting."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Genos was in the kitchen, prepping for dinner when he heard his master return.
"Genos?"
Genos left the pot he had placed on the stove and went to the door.
"Master, welcome back," Genos then took notice to Saya next to him, taking off her shoes.
Saitama told his disciple, "Saya will be eating with us tonight. Make sure there's enough."
"Yes, Master!"
The whole visit, it was Saya and Saitama talking. Genos just listened, he wanted to watch. It was the first time he's seen his master so at ease. So…normal, even.
Not only that, Saya also reminded him of Saitama by some of her mannerisms. Only she was more receptive to situations than him, but slowly, she was bringing him out of that shell. Genos decided that she was good for his master.
But what will happen if they get too close?
Later on, and Genos was deep in his thoughts when Saitama had gotten back from walking Saya home. He noticed that the bald fighter was in a very contented mood.
"Did something happen, Master?" Genos couldn't help but ask.
"Hm? What do you mean, Genos?" Saitama went from looking spaced out happy, to complete plain face, as his per usual self.
"You seem to be in an extremely good mood. Perhaps, your mood has something to do with Ms. Saya?" Genos speculated.
This only elicited an agitated response from our derpy Cue-ball, "Genos, we are not discussing your crazy infatuation theories. I'm just in a good mood, that's all. Let's just call it a night."
Without another word about it, Genos and Saitama retired for the evening. While lying in his futon while Genos slept in the other room, he couldn't help but to let a small smile creep on his face. Remembering a simple act that made him feel really happy. A way of saying 'thanks' he never thought he'd get from anyone, let alone from someone like her.
He closed his eyes, letting his mind drift, reliving that moment of being hugged by Saya.
