6 Months Later
All was quiet in City Z. People chatting, cars running, everything seemed peaceful.
"I'm glad we were able to make it to the sale today," Saitama sighed, holding a bag filled with premium meat and vegetables, "Tonight's hot pot should be good."
"Yes, Master," Genos agreed. Today, after some monster fights, they had made it to a sale at a premium supermarket. Genos was glad they got there as much as Saitama.
After the incident and Saitama's recovery, Genos noticed that Saitama had started to return back to the way he was. He was glad his Master was doing much better, but there were small things that stuck with the egghead.
"Huh?" Saitama suddenly stopped to look behind him through the crowd of people.
Confused, Genos called to him, "Master? Is something wrong?"
Saitama blinked, "I thought I saw--" he stopped and quickly dismissed it, "It's nothing. Let's just go."
It was those moments that let Genos know that Saitama still thinks about her. On few occasions, Saitama would stop just like that, because he felt that it was Saya walking passed him. Unfortunately, it was just a stranger.
At the apartment, Saitama started to prepare the hot pot.
"Master, if you would like, I can prepare dinner," Genos offered.
Saitama dismissed him, "I got it, Genos. Just go sit down."
Genos wasn't used to not cooking since moving out of the apartment. However, whatever made Saitama happy, he complied. As Genos took a seat, he took out a book to read. While waiting, the cyborg couldn't help, but notice Saitama's phone on the TV stand.
He started to wonder if his Master was still trying to contact Saya. Curiosity had him, now. He put the book down, but glanced towards the kitchen, first. Saitama had his back turned. Knowing that the coast was clear, Genos got up and grabbed the phone from its resting place.
Sitting back down, Genos quickly went through the contact list. He understood that it wasn't his place to look through his Master's belongings, but he wanted to be sure that the older hero wasn't hindering his recovery.
He searched through it quickly, but honestly, he was surprised. He couldn't find Saya's number anywhere. Did Saitama actually delete it?
"Why do you have my phone?" Genos froze but looked up to see Saitama staring at him from the kitchen counter.
He was caught red-handed, but he wasn't about to lie to save himself, "I was just making sure you were not hindering your recovery process."
"What's my phone got to do with that?" Saitama questioned as he moved from the kitchen, to the living area.
Genos stood up, "I have noticed that Ms. Saya's phone number is no longer listed. Did you delete it, Master?"
Saitama just stared, a tension building between them. Genos noticed his Master's demeanor changed and he snatched the phone from him, "I don't want to talk about her, Genos. Just forget about it, okay?"
As Saitama went back into the kitchen, Genos then understood. It seemed that Saitama was trying to wipe Saya from his life, so he can move on. A simple approach, but not a relatively healthy one.
The reason? The more you try to forget, the more the memories come back to haunt you.
Genos knew this, but didn't want to get into an argument with Saitama.
He knew he wouldn't win. Besides, aside from mentioning said person, Saitama was doing better.
As long as he doesn't mention her, right?
"What the-?!" The ground suddenly shook beneath them.
"It's coming from outside, Master!" Genos darted out onto the balcony, and in the distance, he saw a giant Monster with a giant eyeball for a head.
Saitama quickly got his boots on, "Let's go, Genos!"
"Yes, Master!" The both of them ran out the door and into the city.
The people of City Z were running away screaming, rubble falling to the ground as this beast brushed against the tall buildings.
Genos and Saitama made it and surveyed the situation, "Master, we need to get these people to a safe distance."
"Let's worry about the buildings, first! They're coming down!" Saitama pointed out that one of the buildings was about to fall over, "Genos, get those people out!"
Genos used his rocket boosters to fly into the building, getting as many civilians out as possible.
Meanwhile, Saitama made to jump and punch this monster when, suddenly, he saw something coming at it from a distance, at impossible speeds,"Huh?"
The monster's giant eyeball head exploded in a ginormous fountain of blood. As this happened, the rest of the body started to teetered. As the corpse was about to fall into a building, Saitama noticed another figure. One was flying with what seemed to be rockets around the monster, grabbing it to stop it from falling into the buildings. The other figure was flying, too, but had focused on stopping the one building from falling and pushing it upright with ease.
The corpse was pulled over until it had fallen into a small clearing.
When this happened, the rocket flying silhouette had went to the building to hold it up while the other figure let go. The figure flew down and had grabbed some large debris, wedging it under the building structure with no problem, at all.
This entire time, Saitama stood there, watching, trying to figure what was going on, now. Coming back to the present, he noticed that the figure was about to leap into the air and he shouted to said figure on the ground, "Hey!"
The figure acknowledged the call, but did not turn. Then, it took off at lightning speed.
Saitama wasn't sure what he was thinking, but he chased after them. Meanwhile, in the building, Genos was picking up an unconscious man, when he felt the building being stood upright, "What? Why is the building...?" He assumed it was Saitama, at first. Genos stopped and looked out the window, to see a robotic silhouette had let the building go when it stopped shaking. Just as suddenly as he saw it, it soon took off. Genos wondered who it was and wanted to investigate, but his priority was to get everyone to safety.
Finally, he got the last person out and that was when he had noticed the carcass of the monster, but Saitama was nowhere to be found, "Where did Master go?"
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This being was fast, Saitama had to admit. He had chased this person, leaping from rooftop to rooftop of any building through the city and the next city over.
"Slow down! Who are you?!" Saitama called out. He got no response from this person, so he tried to get even closer. He started to make out a little bit of detail. This figure was wearing a white cloak with a hood and their body features were feminine.
'Is that a woman?' then, for some reason, Saitama came to a halt. It was as though his body was suddenly paralyzed. He landed on the last building as he saw the figure fly off. He wanted to keep chasing after this person, but his whole body just didn't want to listen to him.
' Who was that? And why did I stop?' Saitama pondered, not really sure why he halted his pursuit. Then, someone in particular came to mind, 'No. That isn't why I stopped. Is it?'
But, it was. He was afraid of who that woman was.
He was afraid it was Saya.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Later in the day, Saitama had went back to his apartment. The whole way back, he kept thinking about that mysterious figure.
Why he stopped. Why he felt afraid to know if that was really Saya. Everything started to come flooding back to him, things he didn't wish to think about. Especially, their 'falling out'.
Although, thinking back on the incident still left him rattled, he couldn't help but wonder the kind of abilities Saya possessed. It left Saitama curious, as well as afraid.
On the way back, he ran into Genos, who had been looking for him.
"Master, you disappeared after the battle. You were the one who killed the monster?" Genos asked.
Saitama looked at him blankly before answering, "That wasn't me. It was some mystery lady in a hood. I chased after her but she managed to get away," complete lie.
Genos raised an eyebrow at him, "A lady?"
"Yeah. Come to think of it, there were two figures. One of them had rocket boosters," Saitama mentioned, scratching his face with a gloved finger.
At the mention of the rocket boosters, Genos eyes lit up with recognition, "I believe I saw that same figure holding up the building while I was inside. Could it, perhaps, be an Android or cyborg?"
Saitama gave a grumble, "One of them, maybe. The other was flying without any rockets or anything."
"I see," Genos replied, but suddenly remembered something from six months ago. He saw something take off into the sky at incredible speed right before he found Saitama wounded. Could it have been Saya this time around? Genos didn't mention it, though.
Saitama gave a shrug, "Whatever, it's best not to worry about it, unless they come back. I'm turning in."
Saitama turned to go into his apartment, Genos wanting to remind him that they hadn't had dinner, yet "Uh--"
The door already shut.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The next day was uneventful, but Saitama was pissed that the food spoiled and burned when he had gotten back yesterday.
Saitama was chilling in his apartment, watching TV. Then, news came up on the monster that attacked the day before.
The reporter was stating how Genos and himself were the ones that brought it down and saved the people in the building. Saitama frowned at such inaccurate information. It wasn't him that killed it. It was that mystery woman.
The thought still plagued him, so much that he didn't sleep much the night before.
Saitama let out a sigh, "I don't know what I'm getting so worked up about. They probably won't show up again. Might as well forget about it."
Just then, he heard his front door slam open, "Huh?!"
"Master!" It was Genos, running inside like he had been chased.
Saitama shouted at him, "Dude, you ever heard of knocking?!"
Genos didn't reply to that remark and said urgently, "The Hero Association is calling in an emergency!!"
"And why are you telling me this?" Saitama questioned.
Genos answered, "They wanted me to inform you that they wanted you at the briefing, as well!"
Saitama sighed again and stood up, "They could've just called me to tell me this," he grabbed his phone to see if they had called when he deadpanned, "Oh, it's dead."
"They had tried contacting you directly before asking me to, Master," Genos informed him, a little too late.
"I see that, Genos. Let me just get ready," Saitama pulled his suit on and they were out the door.
They made it to HQ shortly after. Upon entering the building, they started running into some of the Class S heroes.
Bang, being the first one they see as they walked the hall, "Ah, long time no see, boys. Saitama--good to see you on your feet again."
"Uh, thanks, old man," Saitama gave a half-hearted reply.
Then, Tatsumaki came flying towards them, "It's about time you two showed up!"
"Tornado, leave them be," Flashy Flash came up alongside them, "Regardless, the meeting is starting soon. We should get inside, now."
"Does anyone know what this is about?" Saitama asked Bang.
Bang simply shook his head, "We are as clueless as you are, I'm afraid. Sitch will be briefing us on the matter."They all started to walk into the conference room. The rest of Class S was there, except for Metal Knight and Blast. (Appearances or references towards these characters will remain neutral)
Sitch was standing at the head of the table as everyone else took a seat.
"All of you, thank you for coming on such short notice," Sitch started, "As you all know, we wouldn't have called you all in if it weren't a matter of importance."
"Could you just get to the point? Why did you call us in? Does it have to do with that old prophecy because it already passed," Metal Bat exasperated, clearly not thrilled with being there at the moment.
Sitch answered, "Yes, it has, but this situation has our attention because a new informant has foreseen a potentially dangerous event."
This got the room's attention, now.
"What is it?" Atomic Samurai inquired, "It can't be worse than the alien invasion or The Monster Association, can it?"
Sitch hesitated, but said, "It might be."
Everyone started to get a tad nervous.
Bang was the next to ask, "Might I ask, who is this new informant? How accurate is this information?"
"This informant is an AI. A universal navigator and communications expert. If you want, you can hear it from her and her partner."
Saitama, who been quiet this whole time, thought to himself, ' There are two of them?'
Just then, the doors opened and everyone turned to face these people.
The first one to walk in had a heavy weight to their step, some metal gears wiring with each movement. She was wearing a brown mechanics outfit, but her body was completely metal that was dark bronze in color. She had no real face, except for a nose and mouth. A black visor made up the rest of her face, her head was armored and short platinum blonde hair spiked out the top, part of her bangs concealed the right side of her visor.
(Pic below as outfit reference)Who followed behind, had a white cloak and hood.
They walked over to stand next to Sitch, who made the introductions, "These two came to us a few weeks ago with this new information and it was confirmed just today. This is Sona and her associate."
The cloaked figure then lowered their hood. When she did, Saitama felt his stomach drop and his eyes widened, his nightmare confirmed, "Saya?"
