Chapter Fifteen

I wake up to feel a deep sadness. I miss Sadie and Katie already! They may not have been the brightest bulbs in the shed, but they were also kind, fun and full of good energy. I get out of bed. I know that it's morning because I can see light coming from the crack under the door. Sure enough, Chris yells at us to wake up through the loudspeakers. Bridgette's itch from the poison ivy seems to be getting better. Me and Eva helped her put soap on it last night. Me and Bridgette are both still suffering from our broken bones (well actually, we don't know if their broken, but I assume that they are). I'm glad that Chris had a tiny crumb of goodness in his heart to give me a cast, otherwise I wouldn't be able to move. After we do all the morning stuff (change from pajamas to clothes, brush teeth and hair), we go to the dining hall and sit at the same table as yesterday. We get breakfast and talk about how we miss Katie and Sadie for a bit, then we begin discussing strategy. We talk in hushed voices so the others can't hear us.

"It's obvious that Gwen and Trent have made up from their fight, so they'll obviously be voting together. If their smart enough to join forces with Geoff and DJ or vice versa, it'll be four against three, making all of us viable candidates to vote off. I think that to play it safe, we should try to get Geoff and DJ to join our alliance. Problem is, we don't know if they're trustworthy. They could stab us in the back whenever they wanted," I say.

"Our best bet would be to get Geoff and DJ to join, but Courtney, your totally right about them being unreliable. I mean, they are our friends, and Geoff is Bridgette's boyfriend, but-" Eva starts, but is interrupted by Bridgette saying;

"And DJ is your boooooyfriend."

"Okay, okay. Point is, although we have good relationships with them outside of competition, we did declare war on them, which they declared back on us, then we booted one of their alliance buddies/friends, so they might be out to get us."

"Oh man. I guess what we have to do now is decide if it's worth it or not to ask them to be in our alliance," I say.

"I think it is worth it. If we don't ask them, everyone is going to be targeting us since our alliance has the most people in it, so I'm almost one hundred percent sure Geoff and DJ will team up with Trent and Gwen to take us down. If we ask Geoff and DJ to be in our alliance, they might betray us, but at least there's a chance that they wouldn't. I think it's safe to say that if we don't ask them we're screwed. It's a long shot but it's our only choice," Bridgette says.

"Okay, I guess your right. If they betray us, at least we'll know that we were screwed either way," I say.

"Alright, who's gonna do it?" Eva asks.

"Bridgette since she's the nicest. No offense Eva, just we all know that you and me can be kind of intimidating, which is good sometimes, but in this case we want them to feel as welcome as possible." We all giggle and Bridgette agrees to do it. Me and Eva eat and listen as Bridgette talks to them. The whole room is quiet, so we hear every word. They tease us about how we were just bragging and about how they knew we'd end up having to crawl back to them, but they say yes! Eva is sitting on the bench facing them, and she whispers to me about how pissed Gwen and Trent look. I don't blame them, I'd be pissed too if everyone else was ganging up on me. Bridgette invites DJ and Geoff to come sit with us and we all finish breakfast then await Chris's challenge announcement. While we wait we decide on a new alliance name, instead of being the 'Ex Killer-Bass Girls', we're just going to be the 'leftover Killer Bass'. Not a very good name, I know, but who cares. Chris eventually comes in and tells us to meet him in the woods. He announces the challenge once we arrive.

"Bad morning campers! Get it? Instead of good morning? Cause I don't like you! *laughs his obnoxious laugh* Anyway, here's the challenge; we will give everyone a piece of wood that they must guard with their lives. If you steal someone else's piece, they're out. Last person to still have a piece of wood wins invincibility. If your out, you can still steal other people's wood. To make the challenge dangerous, you have to stay in the woods. You can all expect to be attacked by some sort of creature that lives in the woods at least once." Chef hands everyone a piece of wood that is small enough to carry but still pretty heavy, then Chris yells 'go' and we're off. Gwen and Trent run off together, but the rest of us stay to discuss strategy.
