I wake up feeling confident. I usually wake up nervous, but with Gwen gone, there's no need to worry. As stupid and talentless as she was, Gwen was the biggest threat, with DJ being a wimp and Eva being in an alliance with me.

"Good mOOOOrning EVAAAAA!" I shout, hopping out of bed. Eva springs into a sitting position on her bed.

"Dang it Courtney!" Eva groans, awoken from her deep slumber.

"Lot's of tossing and turning last night?" I gesture towards her hair. Eva touches her hair, her face scrunching in disgust.

"That'll be a nightmare to brush! But I'm so pumped for our friendship finale that I don't even care!" She grins before making a face of surprise and knocks on the wood of her bed.

"Oh come on, don't tell me your superstitious!"

"I'm not, but I'm also not risking this million to anything!"

"You mean your fifth of the million," I correct Eva.

"Right. Sorry I forgot," Eva says, a slight look of disappointment on her face.

"You know, as much as I like Sadie, Katie and Bridgette, I kinda feel like the winner of the million should get to keep it all," I admit.

"Yeah... same. Are we horrible people for that?"

"No, just money thirsty selfish brats," I say, using the names the kids at school have always called me. Eva and I laugh at my description and I grasp her hand to pull her out of bed. Eva's yawn captures my mouth into a yawn as well, and we laugh over the silly jinx. I'll miss Eva the most when this is all over. Maybe she'll come over sometime. Or maybe she'll forget about me. I frown.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, just sleepy." Lying has become a talent of mine.

"Well wake up, sleepy head, we've got a challenge to win today!" We exit the cabin and walk across the dry grass towards the ladies outhouse.

I chew at my breakfast without complaining. As nasty as the food is, I'll need to be full to survive whatever today's challenge is. DJ looks lonely at the table across from me and Eva's. My mouth cracks open but I close it. Inviting him over would be just too friendly at this stage of the competition. I let him sit alone, something I've experienced too many times. I push away my sympathy and focus on downing the purple leaves on my plate.

"Good morning campers!" I don't know why Chris needs a megaphone in a room with only five people.

"Today's challenge will be brutal. Horrible. Terrifying. Deadly. This is it boys, the final three! After today it'll be the final two. Do any of you have what it takes to make it through today's challenge? I don't know. One of you may be leaving on an ambulance stretcher instead of the boat of losers! Today, you will be put to the test at strength, speed and smarts, the three S's! Meet me in the woods to find out what this brutal challenge could possibly be!" Seriously, all that and we don't even get to hear the challenge yet? Chris never fails to be a drama queen. I sigh as I get up and make my way to the forest.

"For today's challenge, you will be hiding, running, jumping and climbing, whatever it takes to avoid being hit with a Nerf bullet! That's right, today all you have to do is avoid being shot with a Nerf gun. The catch? Every single former competitor from this season will have a Nerf gun to shoot you with, and the first one of you to get shot goes straight to the boat of losers and is done for in this season of Total Drama." My eyes widen and my brain goes into panic mode. I grab my hair and tug at it, an anxious habit. Eva catches on to my fear.

"Don't worry Courtney, we got this! It's just nineteen people with Nerf guns trying to shoot us. I mean, nineteen people is a lot but we can take 'em!"
