"Jason! I-"
I'm sorry to interrupt you two, but I think you best go upstairs... A sea serpent has overtaken Alexis...
"We'll talk after we handle this... Go get Andy. We need to go upstairs, now!"
"Right!"
"Alexis!" Jason and I shouted, bursting into the room where we expected Andrew to be pinned to the ground in his wolf form, or untransformed.
But... no... Alexis... she's sleeping peacefully... She has the scars of a lion attack all over her arms, her neck, and all over her body. And Andrew... he's knocked out cold...
"Griffon?" Jason asked, confused as heck. "Where's the-"
Inside of Alexis...
"How do we... how do we kill it?"
No need.
"No need? What do you mean no need?! We've already had Andy and Andrew attacked by these wicked creatures! A demon! A witch! Now a sea serpent?!" I shout in distress.
Princess... you need to heal them...
I'm holding Alexis's hand tightly while I squint my eyes to transfer myself into her mind.
As soon as I enter, I feel seasick... I can hardly keep my eyes focused on the inside of Alexis, but it's so difficult when I'm being thrown around as though I'm in the eye of a storm... again...
There's the monster... That vile, hideous monster... Its giant jaw that leaves a huge gape in its mouth, allowing it to crush through diamond at will. The 80 foot long body?!?!?! Its multi-scaled, fan-sharpened tail ready to slice away as almost ten times my size! And its eyes... What was once Alexis's cotton candy pink eyes is now a heart-wrenching bright red cherry showing that it's not letting go of Alexis...
What do I do?! I've never had to kill a beast inside of a person before! And what if I accidentally hurt Alexis, too...
Everything around me slowed down. Each second passed by as my heart beat faster and faster and over a million beats a minute. What do I do when the tail of a beast so large is about to cut me to smithereens?
You harden yourself...
I looked at the monster dead straight in the eyes as soon as I could find them. Its head had to remain still in order to have a direct hit on me; otherwise I'd certainly be able to dodge. The fin isn't stopping...
Neither should you.
I'm staring as hard as I can without activating my eyes further... I clenched my fists and grated my teeth... and I roared!
"GAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!"
The fin is still coming for my neck...
Don't stop!
"AAAHHHH... Ah.... AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" A beam of light pierced through my retina, headed directly from point A to point B. Point A, my eyes. Point B, the eyes of this monster...
I didn't stop staring, even to the last second... or, split second, I should say... when the blade of the tail was hardly a hair away from the nape of my neck. My skin was tingling and the hairs on my body spiked from realizing that I was almost killed... But I stood my ground... or, space, rather, as I'm floating in midair.
The serpent... Its eyes were no longer the dangerous cherry red it once was... Instead, the eyes have transformed into the sweet cotton candy pink I know of Alexis... Is she... in control...?
The serpent... Its body... I feel the blade that nearly sliced me open... stone... stone cold... stone... rock... the serpent is just a solid statue now with glowing eyes... So perfect, too... The tail being the base, its body being the springy coil leading all the way to the gaped head of the giant water monster... Exactly like a mystical dragon rising from the ground, ready to grant the one wish that could change the entire world...
"Al... Alexis?"
No response.
"Alexis? Are you there?"
Still no response. I was no longer in a body when the serpent was defeated. I was one with Alexis's mind once more. I imagined myself holding the side of her forehead. Instantly, all the dark energy built up within my hand and released itself into oblivion... I could feel my body swelling as I continue...
"Danny?" I heard a woman's voice.
"Alexis! It's me! Are you okay?!"
"Yes... Yes, I'm okay... I just... blech, I feel like I ate too much fish."
...
"Ahahahaha..." we both laughed.
"Do you feel the serpent within you, Alexis?"
"I do... Its power is... incredible... tremendous, at that."
"That's the same thing, though, right?"
"It's... it's inexplicably powerful, Danny..."
"Hey, Alexis... Did you catch the name of the serpent?"
"Idid... Her name... was Denial..."
