Ding-dong. I have no idea when the heck we got a doorbell...

That's probably Ms. Lowell...

"I got it!" I shouted as the other wolves were finishing packing.

Let's see... Undo top chain, unlock upper middle lock, middle lock, and lower middle lock, and turn the lower lock... Open door knob...

"Hey, Ms. Lowell!"

"Hello, Danny," she greeted me with her ever so beautiful and warming smile.

"Come on in!" I invited. "I'm surprised you didn't teleport into my bedroom or something," I laughed.

"You're right," she laughed. "But I would rather not run the risk of teleporting in at the wrong time when you and Jason are doing... whatever."

"Well... I guess this will be the last time you come into this house..."

She just smiled more widely and asked, "Are you ready for this?"

"Yeah... I didn't pack a lot. I brought my stuff that I need when I moved into this house, so it was easier for me to zip it all up."

"It's good that you're packed... but I was referring to whether you are emotionally ready to do this."

"You know... I thought about that... I don't know what is going to happen... and quite frankly it scares the living daylights out of me... but to go on an adventure with my pack... into a world where there are other were-creatures... I'm kind of excited... This is something that I have to do..."

"You know that you have the power to carve your own destiny," she advised, concerned.

"I'm aware... but I have to do this because I'm choosing to do this... and I don't like going back on my decisions once I've made up my mind."

"I am really glad to hear that... Griffon and I are going to do everything in our power to make this the best experience for you and the pack..."

"I know... I trust you two," I smile.

"May I see the Betas? Perhaps I can help them pack up."

"Oh, certainly! That's very kind of you. Come with me. I'm going upstairs anyways to help Jason."

"Guess who?" I hold my hands over Jason's eyes as though I'm shutting his mouth.

"You mean 'guess what?'" he asked.

"No!" I yelled, slapping his giant shoulder. As loud of a slap that was, it was more painful for my finger bones... "Do you need help packing?" I offer while squeezing my throbbing hand.

"Nah, I'm good. Thank you for asking, though," he replied as he threw one of his underpants on the bed...

I look around the room, and on his bed is a big sweaty, smelly (and some milky) pile of underwear and sweatpants...

"Jason! You're going to stink up the bed!" I shouted as I threw his clothes on the ground. Ugh... the smell has stained the bed... I love Jason's scent, but I hate his body odor... I don't understand how you can smell so much worse than a bunch of dudes in a locker room who have nothing to wear but their bathing suits that they just swam in...

Wait... never mind... I do understand... you just need to have Jason as your roommate...

"Who cares?!" he says. "It'll be a long while before we return to this house."

"You... you think we'll return...?"

"I think so," he said. "I like revisiting places where I've had some significant memories... back at my old home, I remember being constantly whipped... and shaved... and beaten... and-"

I dropped all the clothes I was throwing off the bed and threw myself at Jason and buried his head into my chest... I felt him hug me around the waist and pull me closer...

"I'm okay..." Jason said, chuckling.

"I know you are..." But I'm not...

"I'm okay..." he repeated. "Really... Anyways... then there's this house... the battles we've fought... my first time dying... my first real family that didn't want to rip me apart... where I got to live with you for the first time... Why wouldn't I want to revisit...?"

"...you think we'll want to come back...?"

"I know I will... Don't you want to come back here?"

Do I want to come back here... The place I went "blind." The place we encountered an enemy every time we fought. The place where I saw Jason's heart torn right out of his own body...?

I felt my torso and my lower back tighten as Jason pulled me closer into him...

Jason... This is the first place I learned how to see with more than just my eyes... the place where I got to rescue friends I consider family... the place where I got to save Jason... I got to save him from the wrath of who was supposed to be his own father... Why wouldn't I want to revisit the place where it all happened?

"Hey... Jason...?"

"Yes, pup?"

"Could we... lie down... in this bed... one last time...?"

I expected him to give me a smart answer such as "we literally just said we'd come back." Then again, this is the same guy who thought that changing just a digit on a mailing address would somehow have the package sent back to him because he is somehow "closest."

Instead, he hoisted me from my bottom with his forearms, laid me down on the mattress that reeks of his body odor, and whispers in my ear, "You know I love you... right?"

Jason Powers... the most popular guy at my high school... the guy who got his packages delivered to my house purposefully on accident... the guy who was ready to tear my body to smithereens because of the pain he felt... the guy who's a freaking werewolf... the guy who kissed me on top of a mountain as he allowed me to heal his wounds by absorbing the pain... the guy who leads our pack, otherwise known as our family... the guy who found me... the guy who saw the good in me when I was blind to my own self... the guy who opened my eyes to see that I belong... I belong with him... and he belongs with me...

Together, we are the Prime Duo... Together, we will protect all the werewolves who call out for help... Together, we shall strive for peace and protection... because that's a future that we can both see...

"You already know the answer to that question..." I replied as I pulled his head to mine and locked my lips with his... I swear to you, Jason... that I will always protect you as you've protected me.... Because... "I love you..."
