The doorbell rang, and I was the only one inside the house.
I run upstairs to a window to see who it is. Doesn't look like anyone I've ever seen at my front door before. Then again, it's not like I really check anyways.
I open the door to realize that I recognize this person. Jason Powers, the hottest and most popular boy in my grade (junior). I wouldn't say the smartest, but he's certainly got brains. His dark brown hair's a mess, as always, and he's towering me a bit. He's in a blue tank top and cargo shorts... during the winter? I don't know if it's a jock thing, but I'll never understand how some people can wear almost nothing out in the cold and not be shivering to death.
I never realized how built he was without his jacket. Guess I should've known that I wasn't the only person who could be fit without participating in a sport. Still, he seems to know a heck a ton about sports from cricket to football. Though, sometimes it sounds like he's just reading the facts off a slip of paper. Guess that's what makes him so popular...
He's fairly new to our school. He dropped in not more than a month ago. On the first day, I could already see all the girls lining up to ask him out. I'm amazed at how many he's turned down... During math class, all I can ever hear is the "super gay" kid Damien talking about how Jason's so hot that he's going to turn him gay... I don't think I can say I'm "as gay" as Damien is, but I'm pretty sure that's not how it works... Either way, whether or not I'm attracted to him, I wouldn't want someone like him. Someone that extroverted would tucker me out and for sure make me feel unwanted in giant social settings. So, Damien, if you want him that bad, have fun with that.... I'm sure you'd be perfect.... I'm sure Jason would love to hear how you managed to lose your v-card three times... Yes, I know that's not what that means, but I'm saying it because Jason would probably argue how he's probably lost his more...
Anyways, Jason can be sweet, as all the girls always point out. He can be smart; like in our study hall I can see how he helps the dumb kids out with cheap tricks, making them like him more. He's certainly strong; I've seen him pull several giant tables at a time to set up in the cafeteria and manage to kick a football almost three times the width of a football field. Yet, he's turned down every single sports team, each that has personally asked him to join. Thankfully, the tennis coach didn't need my convincing to not give in.
"Hey," he said, with not really much of a smile. I get it. I'm not that amusing to be around or look at. You don't have to rub it in.
"Hi..." I respond awkwardly. "Can I help you, Jason?"
He looked at me in a bit of surprise. Then something in his eyes revealed that he just remembered who I am.
"Oh.... Danielle, right?" Curses on Ryan... "Sorry, usually when I see you, you're so cooped up in the corner with your laptop and are always so bundled with jackets and sweatpants. That and usually when I see you you're not shaved. Guess it's just weird seeing you clean-shaven in a t-shirt and shorts." Okay, yeah, I'm wearing shorts, but I'm indoors!
"Um... is there something wrong with my body?" I don't get why he feels the need to point all of that out...
"Naw, nothing wrong," he says while taking a good look at my whole body while smirking. "You look good. I didn't know you worked out."
Why does my face feel hot right now... I fold my arms to cover them so that he'll stop looking at my body. What a-
"Aren't you on like the badminton team or something at our school?" Seriously?
"Tennis team, number one," I said as I turned around to show him the number on the back of my tennis t-shirt. I quickly turned back to catch him trying to look at my back underneath the shirt. "Are you done questioning my body?"
