Well, I was able to fly again in lala land... and who's the first person I see when I'm trying to fly closer to the stars?
"Princess," said that baritone...
"Griffon," I greeted him back.
"Would you prefer I call you a prince? After all, your power does suggest a significant difference."
"Whatever you prefer. I'm still kind of confused about the distinction, let alone this whole situation..."
"Well, the distinction between the names is basically to say that a Prince is worthy enough while a Princess is not. That's not necessarily to say that a man is better and a woman is not. It's simply a difference in power. Think of it as the Prince being able to rescue the Princess that they want while the Princess must wait for a Prince to take her hand. In that time, the Prince can explore as much as he wishes and has more freedom to use his power."
"So... we're talking about fairy tales now? Are you saying I'm in a fairy tale?"
"Princess, I'm trying here. You humans have such odd ways of understanding things that it makes it harder for me to explain. Just know that as a Prince you are by all means stronger. Same duties as a Princess, just greater power."
"Okay then... wait, you never told me what the situation is with both Prime Alphas. I know that the one I killed was significant, but what about the other one?"
"Same concept applies. Usually the other Prime Alpha chooses to stay in hiding in order to plan an attack, but in the case that the Prime Omega conquers one of the Alphas, the second is immediately destined for doom."
"So, I killed the first Prime Alpha. The second one. Jason killed her. Was that a destiny for doom?"
"Yes and no. Yes, she was set up for death. One way or another, her death was inevitable, so for all we know something else would have caused her death if Jason didn't attack. No, because her death was due to Jason's primal instincts."
I just stared at him trying to pretend that I understood what he was saying.
"If you don't understand, you can tell me."
No offense to Griffon, but part of me was a little startled by his appearance. I'm not used to seeing wolves like this. Just being able to listen to his voice is kind of nice, but just looking at him freaks me out... I'm not supposed to attack someone like him, but I never know if he's going to attack me out of the blue.
"Gah, you're making it difficult to read your thoughts," he said. I figured he'd try something like that...
"I just don't look at your eyes, and you won't be able to tell what's behind them. Does it work like that?"
"That's an unusual way of addressing that issue. I've heard of past Princesses trying to strain their eyes just to cover up the truth. I didn't think it was as easy as just not even facing the person you're talking to. Interesting..."
"Oh... well, I just, if there's someone I don't want to talk to, I just don't heed them any attention."
"So you think I don't deserve your attention?"
I froze. That did not come out right.
"No- I-"
"Ah, my appearance." Crap, did he read my mind?! Did he hear the rest? "Did you say anything else about me?" I looked away from his eyes and shook my head. "Princess-"
