Wendy becomes a hunter

Showdown On The Airship

After clearing the exams Second Phase, Wendy and her friends fly through the starry sky, toward the site for the Third Phase. Allow me to introduce myself to the forty two remaining applicants. I am Netero, Chairman if this year's Hunter Exam Selection Committee." Said Netero. "I am his secretary, Beans." Said the green blob. "Originally, I'd planned to make my appearance during the exam's final phase, but as I'm already here." Said Netero. Everything is silent. "I'm loving this tension in the air! So I think I'll stick around for the rest of the trip." Said Netero. "We are scheduled to arrive at our destination tomorrow morning, at 8 AM. You'll find dinner waiting in the dining hall. You are also welcome to get some rest. In other words, you're free to do as you please until you are contacted. "Hey come on Wendy. Let's go and explore the airship!" Said Killua. "Yeah!" Said Wendy. Both Wendy and Killua laughed. "How can they have so much energy? I'm hitting the sack." Said Leorio. "You can say that again. However, I do have one concern."Said Kurapika. "Hmm? What's up?" Asked Leorio. "How many more phases are there?"Said Kurapika. "Oh. They've never mentioned that, have they?" Said Leorio. "On average, there are five to six phases." Said Tonpa. "Which means we still have three or four to go." Said Leorio. "All the more reason to rest now." Said Kurapika. "But you should be careful." Said Tonpa. "Huh?" Said Leorio. "The secretary only told us when we'll arrive at our destination. It's possible that the third exam could take place on this airship itself. And it doesn't necessarily mean we'll contacted at 8 AM." Said Tonpa. "Huh? Are you serious?" Said Leorio. "Hmm,that does make sense." Said Kurapika. "You might wake up to discover that the exam has already ended. If you plan to make it to the next phase, don't let yourself relax on this airship." Said Tonpa. "What the hell. Well that was some good advice. Thanks." Said Leorio. "We shall bear that in mind." Said Kurapika. "Let's all do our best." Said Tonpa. Then Tonpa put on an evil smirk. "Yeah,right. Here's hoping that you're both nervous wrecks, come the morning." Thought tonpa. The examiners Menchi,Buhara,and Satotz were eating their dinner. "Hey, how many applicants do you expect to make it?" Asked Menchi. "You mean pass the exam?" Asked Buhara. "Yep. This year, we have an impressive group. Though I did fail them all at one point." Said Menchi. "But doesn't it depend on what the upcoming phases consist of?" Said Buhara. "That's true, but didn't you notice it? One of them had this whole aura thing going on. What do you think, Satotz?" Asked Menchi. "Oh, yes. I like the rookies this year." Said Satotz. "Ha! So you agree? I think #294 has a good shot. Said Menchi. "I'm partial to #99." Said Satotz. He looks like a selfish, spoiled brat. What do you think, Buhara?" Asked Menchi. "Well...He isn't a rookie, but #44 is the one I favor. I'm sure you noticed, but when #255 was throwing a fit, it was #44 who was really on the verge of killing someone." Said Buhara. "I did notice that, of course. He could barely restrain himself from tearing off our heads. But didn't you realize? He was already that way from the first moment we appeared." Said Menchi. "Really?" Asked Buhara. "Yeah, that's the real reason I was so edgy. He kept challenging me." Said Menchi. "I had a similar experience. He should be carefully monitored. Though it pains me to admit this, we are birds of a feather with him. However, his affinity for darkness is far stronger. As Hunters, we are continually seeking our rivals. Ultimately, the Hunter Exam is but a place to find opponents worthy of respect. And every once in a while, we encounter someone who hits the floor running, when we try to slow things down. An oddball of sorts." Said Satotz. Hisoka starts placing a pile of cards together making a tower and then he knocks it down and starts to laugh. Meanwhile in the kitchen. "Hey, There! Kids! Stay out of the kitchen! Go eat in the dining hall!" Said the Chef. "Wow,awesome! Look, Wendy! Said Killua excitedly looking outside the window. "Hmm? What is it?" Asked Wendy. Killua and Wendy look outside the window and see beautiful lights outside the window. "Whoa! It's like the ground is covered in jewels!" Said Wendy. "Yeah!" Said Killua. "Hey I was wondering." Said Wendy. "Hmm? Said Killua. "Are your parents still the same?" Asked Wendy. "You guesses it, there still the same as always. When I told them I wanted to decide my own future, they all snapped! My mother had tears streaming down her face, as she told me I have the potential to be a top assassin." Said Killua. Wendy chuckled. "It's natural their kid would go bad. We ended up fighting. So I stabbed my mother in the face, my brother in the side, and ran away from home. I'm sure they're out for blood now. But if they find me, I'll send them packing.Said Killua. Wendy chuckled again. Killua started to fantasize. "When I become a Hunter, I'll start by capturing my family. I'm sure they're worth some hefty bounties. Said Killua. "I'm glad you haven't changed killua. Your the same killua I've always known." Thought Wendy. Netero starts walking up to where the windows are and sees Killua and Wendy. Suddenly Netero puts extreme force on Wendy and Killua. Killua and Wendy look surprised. "Something wrong?" Asked Netero. Killua just stares at Netero. "Ah, Mr. Netero did you see anyone coming from that side?" Asked Wendy. "No." Said Netero. "When did he..." Thought killua. "Your pretty fast for an old man." Said Killua. "That little trick? I barely moved." Said Netero. Killua gives Netero a stare. Both Netero and Killua just stare at each other. Wendy is looking back and if of Killua and Netero and is wondering what is going on. "What do you want? You don't have to do anything until the last phase, right?" Said killua. "No need to be so unkind. I got bored, and was looking for some companions. By the way, I meant to ask the two of you...any thoughts on your first attempt at the Hunter Examination?" Said Wendy. "Uh-Huh! It's fun! And there haven't been any of the written exams I was dreading." Said Wendy. "I'm disappointed. I expected the exam to be far more difficult. I assume the next phase will be more entertaining?" Said Killua. "Well, now...I wouldn't know about that." Said Netero. "Let's go, Wendy!" Said Killua. "Now wait just a moment. Would you care to play a game with me?"Asked Netero. "A game?" Said Wendy. "If your able to defeat me, I shall let you be Hunters! Really? I'll play!" Said Wendy. Killua looked back at Netero and just stared at him. "How about it, eh?" Said Netero.

"Now, I'll go over the rules of the game. If you can take this ball from me, before the airship reaches its destination, you win. I believe that we're scheduled for an 8 AM arrival? Well, that still gives you nine hours. You're free to attack me however you'd like. I won't touch you." Said Netero. "Huh? That's too easy. You can't call that a game." Said Wendy. "Why not give it a try first?" Said Netero. "We just have to take the ball?" Asked killua. "Yeah." Said Netero. "Then I'll go first." Said killua. "Go ahead." Said Netero. Then killua goes around the arena. "He thinks I'm weak." Said Killua. Killua starts walking across the arena there are a bunch of Killua's image. Wendy looks at killua amazingly. Netero is also impressed. Now killua is surrounding Netero. "I never thought I get to see killua do Rhythm Echo. Amazing!" Thought wendy. "This is an assassination technique. Rhythm Echo. Practitioners use a certain rhythm to create after-images, confusing the enemy. I am astonished that such a young child has already mastered that technique. What a dreadful child." Thought Netero. Suddenly killua goes for the kill and goes for the ball, but Netero dodges and killua misses. Killua tries going after the ball, but misses every time. "Damn, He sure moves around a lot. Is he really an old man?" Thought killua. "What? That's it?" Asked Netero. "In that case, I'll stop his movement!" Killua starts to slide down and hits Netero's pivot leg. "Ouch...his pivot leg!" Said Wendy. Killua has a smirk on his face, but his face suddenly changes. "Ow!" Yelled killua. Killua starts jumping up and down with his leg. "He didn't hold back with that kick. If I were an ordinary person, that would have shattered my leg." Thought Netero. "Damn. His legs are hard as iron." Thought killua. Wendy walks up to Netero and is nervous because fighting is not Wendy's forte. " I wonder what technique this child can do." Thought netero. Wendy was breathing inside and out. A wind was surrounding Wendy, but killua could not see it. Only Wendy and Netero. "Sky Dragon..." "I see so she's a sky dragon slayer. One of the lost Magic's." Thought Netero. "Wing Attack!" Said Wendy. Wind was everywhere and killua went almost flying in the air. "Amazing. Wendy's has already learned the sky dragon arts. Wendy has sure grown." Thought killua. Killua was amazed for what Wendy had done. Suddenly Wendy had disappeared. "Where did she go?!" Said Netero. Wendy was on the ceiling thinking about her strategy. Wendy let go and hit the side of Netero's face. "Ow!" Yelled Wendy. Killua just did an awkward smile. "I don't believe it. Is his whole body made entirely out of iron? No, wait there is one thing I haven't tried yet." Wendy went back to where killua was sitting. "They should keep me entertained until morning." Thought Netero. Killua tried to kick the ball, but would miss every time. "You two aren't getting anywhere. Why not attack simultaneously?" Said Netero. Killua started to get irritated. "Why, you!" Yelled killua. "Okay. I've figured it out!" Said Wendy. Wendy shoots off after Netero. "Your attacks are getting boring." Said Netero. Wendy unbuckles her shoe and kicked Netero under the chin. "She kicked off her shoe to increase her range?" Thought Netero. "Just as I thought!" Said Wendy. "Killua, now!" Yelled Wendy. Killua kicked netero behind the head. Netero drops the ball. "A chance!" Said killua trying to reach towards the ball. "I think not." Said Netero. Netero kicks the ball towards him and tries to grab the ball, but Wendy unbuckles her other shoe and kicks it away from Netero. "You and your little tricks!" Said Netero. "It's mine!" Said both killua and Wendy. Netero jumped from the air, pushed killua and Wendy, and grabbed the ball. Wendy could not believe what had just happened. "I commend you on your efforts." Said Netero. Wendy was amazed by what had happened. Wendy looked next to her and there was a big hole in the ground and steam was coming out of it. "You're amazing, Mr. Netero! Really amazing!" Said Wendy. Killua had an angry expression on his face. "Forget it. I give up. I lose!" Said Killua. "Huh?" Said Wendy. "Oh? He's quitting?" Thought Netero. "Ha ha! You really know how to piss me off, old man. Let's go, wendy!" Said killua. "Oh...coming give me sec." said Wendy. "Sky make...copy." Said Wendy. Then suddenly a the air turned into Wendy. "You follow killua and wait until I come back. Okay?" Said Wendy. "As you wish." Said the copied Wendy. The copied Wendy followed killua. "Shhh. Don't tell killua alright." Said Wendy. Netero nodded. "Shall we pick up where we left off." Said Wendy. Meanwhile in the hallway. "Damn it! Now I'm in a bad mood." Thought killua. Then killua bumped into two men. "Well,I guess there's nothing for it." Thought killua. "Hey. Wait up kid. You bump into us,and then ignore us?" Said #391. "Bastard!"Yelled both #390 and #391. When both of them touched killua, both of them collapsed. Killua's hand has turned into an animal or human claw. Then killua smirked. "If I hadn't stopped what I did, I'd have ended up killing the old man to get the ball." Said killua. Eventually Wendy ended up winning because Netero used his right hand and she won. Wendy thought that she needs to train harder to get the ball. Wendy followed the scent of killua and went to bed.
During a game  Netero proposed to kill time, he's seen something in Wendy. The airship and its 42 applicants approach the site of the exam's Third Phase.
