Wendy becomes a hunter

Last Test Of Resolve

During the exam's Third Phase, which requires applicants to reach Trick Tower's base within seventy-two hours, Wendy and her friends have incurred a penalty of fifty hours.
Killua does a special trick on his skateboard. Then Killua gives his skateboard to Wendy. "If you hesitate on the first step, you'll hurt yourself." Said Killua. "Got it." Said Wendy. "Hey, Kurapika. Once we've spent fifty hours here, we'll have fewer than ten hours, right?" Asked Leorio. "Yes, that's correct." Said Kurapika. "That's way more than enough time!" Said Leorio. "You're a fool." Said Tonpa. "What's that?" Said Leorio. "Phase Three lasts seventy-two hours. And each phase is designed to weed out half of the remaining candidates. So, on average, it's meant to take seventy-two hours. Just more proof that you're an idiot." Said Tonpa. Leorio starts to get irritated. "Well, our chances of reaching the goal within ten hours will depend on the remaining trials." Said Kurapika. "Yeah, that's true." Said Leorio. "But when we've got a guy who's so down on his luck, he can't even win a simple game of rock-paper-scissors." Said Tonpa. "What was that?!" Said Leorio pitting his fist up. "You deliberately lost a bet, just to satiate your libido. Then you chose rock-paper-scissors, a contest you couldn't win." Said Tonpa. "Shut up! You surrendered without even a fight!" Said Leorio. "Sure, I surrendered. But I only wasted a second of our time. You lost, squandering fifty of our remaining hours. Take some responsibility, huh? Besides, what kind of Hunter is so bad at gambling?" Said Tonpa. Leorio gets mad at Tonpa. "Shut up! You don't even want to become a Hunter. You only care about ruining our chances." Said Leorio. Tonpa smirks. "And now, you'll have the guilt eating at you for the rest of this exam phase." Thought Tonpa. Then Killua's skateboard comes flying towards Leorio hits the wall. "Hey! What are you doing?" Said Leorio. "Sorry about that." Said Wendy. "Don't skateboard inside this tiny room!" Said Leorio Angrily. "Aww." Said Wendy. Meanwhile when the sun was rising everyone was asleep except for Killua. "Can't sleep?" Said Kurapika. "Not really. I can go two or three days without sleep." Said Killua. "Ten hours have passed, huh." Said Kurapika. "There aren't any windows, so it's hard to tell. But it's probably morning." Said Killua. "Most likely." Said Kurapika. Killua gets up and gets a pillow and throws it at Wendy, but Wendy catches it and throws it back to Killua. Killua is surprised. Wendy opens one eye. Killua smiles and throws it back to Wendy, but Wendy catches it again and throws it back to Wendy. Wendy and Killua play pillow fight on and on. "Knock it off you guys." Said Leorio. Wendy and Killua laugh. "Let me sleep some more." Said Leorio. Tonpa puts his smelly sock near Leorio's face and does a disgusted look. That stinks!" Yelled Leorio. Wendy, Killua, and Kurapika laugh at Leorio. "That wasn't funny." Said Leorio. Leorio looks at Tonpa and goes up to him. "Bastard, you'd better not be pretending to sleep." Said Leorio. Leorio gets up. "Damn, now I'm totally awake. And we still have forty hours left to go?" Said Leorio. It was morning Leorio was sleeping and Kurapika was reading a book. "Oh, so thing is a corrupted dragon and I thought all dragons are normal." Said Killua. "Not all dragons, but I bet thing was once a dragon slayer, but he used full dragon form before dragon force." Said Wendy. Killua was confused. "It's a little confusing, but I will explain it later to you." Said Wendy. Wendy pulled out her hair clip. "Hey, I did this to my sister once, but It was an accident." Said Wendy. Wendy aimed her hair clip and flicked it and the hair clip went all over the room. It was going to each corner then made a turn and went through the key hole. Tonpa was surprised. "Wow! Let me try." Said Killua. Wendy gave Killua another hair clip. Killua was aimed the hair clip. "Like this?" Said Killua. But Killua aimed it at the couch. Wendy laughed. "You missed." Said Wendy. "Yeah, but watch this." Said Killua. Wendy gave Killua another hair clip and Killua aimed at Leorio. The hair clip went into Leorio's mouth and was chocking. Leorio got up. Leorio was gagging so much that he tried to say something, but he couldn't. "Here, Leorio I'll help you." Said Wendy. Wendy made a finger motion to pull the paper clip and stop Leorio chocking. "Wow I didn't know you like to eat hair clips Leorio." Said Killua sarcastically. Wendy started to laugh. "I do not like hair clips! It went into my mouth!" Said Leorio angrily. "You don't have to get so mad. It's not like I'm going to do it to you in your sleep." Said Killua. "Just leave me the hell alone! Man, I can't even take a nap." Said Leorio. Wendy and Killua looked at each other and giggled. Leorio starts to get irritated. Tonpa pulls on a smirk. "What are you smiling about?" Asked Leorio. "Oh nothing." Said Tonpa. "Your up to something, aren't you." Said Leorio. "Of course not. I just want to spend the rest of my time here peacefully." Said Tonpa. "Liar! I don't trust you, got it?" Said Leorio. "The feeling's mutual." Thought Tonpa.
Time skip:
Only one more minute to go until Wendy and her friends can leave. "Okay. Ready to go!" Said Wendy. "This one minute is taking forever." Said Leorio. The door opened and Wendy was already out of the room. "Wait up, Wendy." Said Leorio
           "Thirty minutes of running, just to end up where we started." Said Leorio. "We should have taken those stairs down." Said Killua. Leorio got mad at Killua. "Shut up! We all agreed this route!" Yelled Leorio. Wendy and her friends went through a railroad track, went through tiles, and ran from a  huge cannon ball. Everyone was worn out. "Man, I'm covered in dust." Said Killua. "H-Hurry up. We only have an hour left." Said Leorio. When they went to the next room there was another question on the wall. "We're supposed to vote on whether to open the door? We need to move on. So obviously, we want to open the door." Said Leorio. 4 for o and 1 for x. Leorio started to get pissed. Leorio grabs Tonpa's shirt. "I've had enough of your crap." Said Leorio. "Wait, I pressed o too." Said Tonpa. "Don't lie. You specialize in ruining other people's chances!" Said Leorio. "Sorry, Leorio." Said Wendy. "Eh?" Said Leorio. "I accidentally pressed the wrong button." Said Wendy. "What?" Said Leorio. Leorio puts Tonpa down. "Oh, I see." Said Leorio. "Wait." Said Tonpa. "Huh?" Said Leorio. "You owe me an apology. I can't let that slide." Said Tonpa. "It's your own fault, for doing things to make me distrust you. I don't owe you anything." Said Leorio. "You make it sound like I'm to blame for everything that's gone wrong." Said Tonpa. "What?" Said Leorio. "Have you forgotten who cost us those fifty hours? You're the one who made a critical mistake." Said Tonpa. Leorio was furious. "Hey, Leorio." Said Kurapika. "Shut up, Kurapika!" Said Leorio. Leorio put up his fist and so did Tonpa. "This is stupid. I'm going on ahead." Said Killua. "Wait, Killua." Said Wendy. "Hey, Wendy. We're getting close to the goal." Said Killua. "What? Really?" Said Wendy. There was a statue of a girl, the door saying X or O, and the final question. "Let's see. This will be the last decision made by majority rule. Are you ready? Choose O or X." Read Killua. "Am I ready? You bet." Said Leorio. There was 4 for O and 1 for X. "Bastard." Said Leorio. "Stop! We don't have time to argue about this!" Said Kurapika. "Please select a path. There are two choices. One path allows five to pass, but is long and difficult. The other path allows only three, but is short and easy. Incidentally, the long and difficult path requires a minimum of forty-five hours. The short and easy path leads to the goal in approximately three minutes. Press O for the long and difficult path, and X for the short and easy path. If X is selected, two people must be secured to the wall with handcuffs, before the door will open. The two chained members will be unable to move until the time limit expires." Explained Lippo. "The examiners were very prepared. I think they have every weapon under the sun here." Said Killua. "Two out of five. So we're supposed to fight, to decide the three who pass?" Said Kurapika. "Let me make this clear. I'm going to press X. But I have no intention of staying behind. I'll do whatever it takes to be one of the three." Said Leorio. "You're shameless. Had you not wasted fifty hours, we could have taken the long path. Shouldn't you take responsibility and stay behind?" Said Tonpa. "What?!" Said Leorio. "I'm sure everyone else agrees! Have I said anything inaccurate?" Said Tonpa. "Hold on. I'm going to press O. We made it all the way here together. I want us all to pass together." Said Wendy. "Wendy, there's only one choice if you want to pass this exam." Said Killua. "There you have it." Said Leorio. "Now we have to decide how to choose which three pass. Well, I'm planning on two of them being you and me." Said Killua. Everyone just stares at each other. "Heh, I've made it this far. I won't fail now. Whoever makes the first move wins." Thought Tonpa. Tonpa grabs an axe and swings it at Leorio, but Leorio dodges. "Tonpa, that was dirty!" Said Leorio. "In a fight, there's no such thing as dirty!" Said Tonpa. Tonpa tries to hit Leorio, but would miss every time. Leorio grabs a weapon. "Bastard!" Said Leorio. "Stop this, you two!" Said Kurapika. "Come on... let's do it together." Said Wendy. "Before we start fighting, we have to choose O or X!" Said Leorio. "It's too late for that!" Said Tonpa. Tonpa swings his axe against the wall and that gave Wendy an idea. "Seems our only choice is to fight." Said Killua. Killua got ready to fight and brought out his claws. "What should I do?" Thought Kurapika. Wendy steppes back to get a weapon.
Later:
Meanwhile at the finish line the door opens. "Kurapika, applicant #404, is the twentieth to pass. Killua, applicant #99, is the twenty-first to pass. Wendy, applicant #405, is the twenty-second to pass." Announced Lippo. "My butt hurts. I didn't expect a slide for the short and easy path." Said Killua. Hisoka looked at Wendy and her friends. "Three of them." Thought Hisoka. "That was really close." Said Wendy. "My hands are covered with blisters." Said Kurapika. "Same here." Said Leorio. Leorio and Tonpa we're pushing each other around. My hands are blistered, but all five of us cleared the tower together. All thanks to Wendy!" Said Leorio.
Before:
5 for O and 0 for X. They entered the long and difficult path. Then cut a hole in the wall, to sneak into the short and easy path.
Now:
"Man, I can't believe you actually came up with that idea on the spot." Said Leorio. "I realized that we could break the walls, using the weapons. But it took over fifty minutes." Explained Wendy. "The Third Phase of the exam is over. Twenty-five applicants have passed. One has died." Announced Lippo. The exit door opened and the sun was shining beautifully.
Though the team members had their differences, Wendy was able to bring them together, to overcome the trial. However, a friend today may become a foe tomorrow. Wendy doesn't know that before long, they'll be pitted against each other, in brutal, individual battles.
