This is the last chapter with the title 'The Loving...' I promise. But buckle up and don't say I didn't warn you.
"Good morning babe." I knew Lucy was going to be a little jet lagged this morning, so I decided to prepare a little breakfast in bed. Pancakes, fresh fruit, and orange juice. I've found that this is the only way she wakes up happily after a while of traveling.
Her eyes open and there's a hint of morning grumpiness until she sees the food I've prepared for her. Then her eyes wander to me, taking in my appearance. I'm sporting a nice messy bun, my glasses I hate wearing in public but really need to be able to see, and my giant t-shirt.
She's giggling at the sight of what just woke her up and I'm convinced once again that it's one of my favorite sounds. "Why don't you look domestic." She says with her morning rasp and an attempt at a southern drawl. I can't help but laugh at the take on things, "Fuck you, I just wanted to enjoy my morning and-" I guess I am not quite awake because I was too slow to react and she pulled me backwards, making me fall into her.
"Mmm I'd like that. I've missed my girl for a week." I pretend to be offended and push back. "No ma'am, you sit your ass down and eat. I'll be in the kitchen washing the dishes." I command and she salutes in response. "You fucking idiot." I laugh and mutter as I walk back to the kitchen.
I turn on the radio and start jamming out while washing the dishes. Because is there really any other way to wash the dishes?
"I fucking love it when you do that shit." I jump and put a hand over my heart when I hear Lucy's voice. I guess I was a little too caught up in the music. "You scared the shit out of me." She smiles, ignoring what I said and gets closer for a morning kiss, which I obviously return.
"As I was saying... I love it when you just get lost in music and start dancing around the house. How the hell did I end up with you?" I feel my cheeks start to heat up and I can't tell if it's because I just got busted or if it's the complements.
She doesn't wait for my response and helps me dry off the rest of the dishes and puts them back in the cabinets. I love how comfortable we are with each other. How she didn't even ask if I wanted help, she just stepped in and stepped up to help.
"You're staring." Whoops, I've been caught.
"It's because I have my beautiful girlfriend being domestic with me." I can't help but return the remark she made earlier.
"Anyways, when do you want to get fitted for your bridesmaid dress? You do realize the wedding is in two weeks, right?" She hoists herself on the counter and pulls me over so I can stand between her legs.
"I know, I was thinking today or tomorrow. You also need a dress."
"Yeah, but I'm not going to be a bridesmaid. I'll just have my beautiful girl standing up there for me to ogle at." We both break down in laughter.
"And I'll be able to look at my beautiful girlfriend sitting in the crowd the whole time." She leans in for a kiss and our lips linger for a moment.
"You know what. Hang on. I'll be right back, stay here." She scrambles down from the counter and runs into our bedroom, leaving me in confusion before she comes running back panting.
"Wow, somebody is out of shape." I joke, we both know she is probably one of the fittest people in Miami. She just shakes it off and takes my hands into hers.
"Lauren. I love you, you know that right?" I furrow my eyebrows. "Of course I know that. What's going on?"
"Lauren. I knew it the second I woke up this morning that today is the day. Well I knew the day was coming up for a while, but everything just clicked this morning and I just knew the today was the day." She starts rambling and I put a hand on each side of her face, making her look at me. "What's going on Luce?"
