Ah Rin slipped a black, plain beanie over my head, covering up the cat ears that had been sewn there. Ah Rin had asked Death if it was possible to remove them, but Death said that there was too much risk. So I was stuck with them, and the tail. The cooking smelt mouth watering. Fried chicken, sizzling and lathered in oil and seasonings. But for once in my life, I wasn't really hungry.
I could still taste it. That lingering tang of blood.
Torn out throats...eyes gouged out..
I shivered. All those girls, how many had there been, holding me down? Seven? And then Gluttienhiv...
I whimpered softly.
Death had made us all sit at the table. It was sort of ironic, all of us sitting at the table like some sort of normal, happy family. But we weren't anything like that.
Min-Hyo had filled me in on Death - who he was. A killer for hire. An anything for hire, really. You wouldn't think he was by that cocky grin on his face, but with that tattoo on his face, he looked terrifying.
Why would anyone get their entire face tattooed?
Do-Yoon wouldn't meet my eyes either. It was if he had lost all respect and humanity towards me after what had happened. But I didn't know why he had a bandage still over his arm, and why he looked permanently pained.
Death gave us each a plate, placing it down before us before he served the chicken and the sesame seed and bean salad, smiling as if he had created pure art.
Ah Rin huffed. "I don't see why we need to eat together." She almost sounded like a child whining at her father.
"Rini, my love" he soothed. "I haven't seen you in ages, and I want to get a good blessing from Eui here" he winked at me. "And I'm hungry as fuck so let's just eat."
He sat down, rubbing his hands together in anticipation.
Min-Hyo poked at his foot. "I'm not hungry."
"Eat" Death said with a slight viciousness. "I slaved over the stove for this."
Do-Yoon was the first to cut into his food with the knife and fork. It was more of a western styled dish, but with a hint of Japanese with the sesame seed and beans part. Do-Yoon said nothing as he chewed.
Ah Rin slowly ate, but took her time doing it. Min-Hyo did the same.
Deaths golden eyes then snapped to me, glaring at the full plate of food that I wouldn't touch. I gulped, but as I looked at the food - food I would normally dig into at first glance - my stomach churned and turned sour.
I couldn't. I couldn't do it. Couldn't force myself to.
Suddenly, there was a light buzzing noise. It made everyone pause, and look to the source of the noise, which was Min-Hyo.
He frowned, pulling out something from his pocket. It took me a second to recognise it, but I widened my eyes as it registered.
It was my phone...
"It's 'Yu'. Is that...your dad?" Min-Hyo said as he peered at the screen.
"You had my phone?!" I snapped at him, blinking as I didn't expect the harshness in my tone.
"Of course" he then said. "We have all your stuff. And we couldn't let you have a phone, geez, that would be just slack."
"What's this about Eu?" Ah Rin then said, raising an eyebrow at me.
I hunched my shoulders, biting my lip. "How should I know..? I can't read it..."
"It says that he wants to meet up with you at the 'regular' spot." Min-Hyo raised an eyebrow himself as he peered at me.
