Casimir stood aside then, allowing the council a full on view of his grim companion. 'And this is my guardian, Thanatia,' he said, gazing at her fondly.

Thanatia. I had no clue what the name meant, but I had a feeling it was of some ancient, symbolic meaning. Thanatia took a step forward, nodding respectfully, but didn't bow. One of the royals, outraged by Thanatia's refusal to bow, visibly bristled and stood up.

'It is courtesy to bow in the presence of your Queen.'

Thanatia's head snapped lightning fast towards the source of the sound. Her eyes fixed on the royal, dark and scorching. 'I do not answer to this Queen,' she snapped. Every guardian in the room, including myself, twitched in apprehension.

'It's fine, Margery, the guardian has not offended me,' Lissa quickly said, obviously wanting to diffuse the situation. 'Could you do that again, lord Andrijevic?'

Casimir's eyes sparkled with delight as he raised his hand again. This time, he didn't spurt any growth into the plants. Instead, the heavy vases lifted entirely off the ground, hovering in the air for a while. He moved his arm slowly to the right, and the hovering vases followed. He finally set them down on the opposite side of the room.

'A spirit user,' Lissa breathed, a joyous smile spreading across her face. 'Of the few spirit users I've met, only Sonya could do that.'

Casimir flashed Lissa a crooked grin. 'Of the few spirit users I've met, I'm also the only one that can do that. I look forward to meeting this Sonya.' He paused for just a second, and I noticed Thanatia frown as she regarded him.

How odd.

'Sister,' Casimir continued. 'It is always a delight to meet a fellow spirit user.'
