Bellamy:
"Here take this." I take off my jacket and wrap it around her small frame. She just nods. "We're almost there." Her bare feet were trudging through the dirt and I could tell there were open wounds. It broke my heart I could do anything to help other than be a crutch.
"Can we stop and rest?" She said without looking at me holding her stomach.
"Camps just up there." I said stopping.
"Can't I just wait here while you go get them." She huffed.
"When I said I was never going to leave you, I meant it." I said grabbing her arm harder than I meant to. She looked up to me in shock. "I'm- I'm sorry I didn't mean to. I just-" I let go of her arm and we continued to walk in silence.
————————————
"Where are they?" Clarke huffed sitting down next to the charred fire.
Panic was staring to set in. From the look of it the group had already picked up and left awhile ago. "I don't know...." I sat down next to her. She still only had the thin white cloth overing her and my jacket. She looked helpless. "Well stay here the night I guess and start towards Arcadia tomorrow." She nodded. "I'm sorry."
"I'll be okay. I lasted this long I guess."
"I meant about earlier." Something flashed in her eyes too quick to tell what it was. "Do you remember the day after Finn died. You told me that you couldn't lose me too."
"You mean the day after I killed Finn and the day before you left for Mount Weather?"
I looked away. "You told me love was weakness. You broke my heart so I left. I didn't even stop to think if you meant it. If you really wanted me to leave. I just left cause it was easier then trying to deal with how I felt about you." I looked back to her eyes and took her hand. "Then you came for me. And we were together and I loved you. So much. And then you left. You left me. And I lost it, I couldn't go after you I couldn't save you, there was nothing I could do. I was so mad at you for leaving me. And now... god I love you so much. I'm going to love you till I die Clarke. That's just how it is." I put my forehead to hers and held her by the hair. "You are never leaving my sight ever again." I whispered.
"Okay." She whispered back. "Okay." I placed my lips gently on hers. So soft and sweetly. Only for a second then she pulled away.
"I'm sorry I left you. I promise I'll never leave you again." I nodded in agreement then pressed her close to me. Pulling her into a much deeper kiss. I was being careful not to be too rough with her but god I missed her. She deepened the kiss and it became hungrier and more desperate. Her lips were so soft and I couldn't get enough of her.
"Clarke?"
We broke away quickly to the voice.
"Clarke! Oh my god how?!" Both me and Clarke squinted in the dark still not sure who the voice belonged to. I had already stood up in front of Clarke keeping one arm out to keep her away from the intruder.
"Noah?" His face finally registers and I let my arm down. Looking back at Clarke she looks a little confused.
"Clarke? How'd you get here?!" He starts to rush over when he sees my defense lighten. "It's me Noah." He says in a clear voice. He passes by with a shove and no glance. On the ground with Clarke in no time.
"Noah?" She says slowly. I find the nerve to turn around and I don't like what I see. Noah's arms wrapped around her holding her. Clarke looks shaken up.
"Yes it's me Noah. How did you escape." His blonde hair and piercing blue eyes make him look artificial compared to the dark dirty forest. "You're...." He lightly placed his hand in her bare stomach. I felt every muscle in my body tense but I released when she picked his hand up and took it off her. "I missed you so much. I was so worried." She just looked up to me as if waiting for me to do something. I smiled at her then grabbed Noah by the collar.
"She needs to rest, we'll talk tomorrow." I said throwing him away from her. "Where's the rest of the party?" Noah looked from Clarke to me and back to Clarke.
"They went out looking for you. Clarke how are you here?"
"I said we'll talk about it tomorrow. When we head back to Arcadia."
"Clarke?" He stepped forward again.
"It's good to see you Noah." Her voice was hesitant as if she barely knew where she was. "but I'm so tired can I lay down a bit before I try and explain?"
"Of course of course!" Something like lust filled his eyes. God I hated him how sick. "Do you need help?"
"No! No no I um.. I don't want to be touched right now." Her voice softened and I realized the distance I should be giving her. So I respectfully stepped away. Although she looked weak and tired I knew Clarke would never except help when she thought she didn't need it.
Clarke:
Two pairs of eyes trailed me all the way to camp and all the way until we were seated by the fire. A dark pair and a bright pair. Both patiently waiting for my explanation.
"Okay." I finally huffed averting their eyes. "Would you like to hear all of it or just the runt of it?"
"Whatever you feel comfortable telling." Bellamy breathed.
I laughed at that. When was the last time I was comfortable? Was there anything I felt comfortable saying? Oh well. None of it mattered now. I'm not really sure of what all happened anyway.
"Well it started about 9 months ago." Noah's eyes flashed to my belly but Bellamy's stayed glued to my eyes. My eyes that I'm sure broadcasted my every emotion.
"I was offered a deal. To hand myself over in return for mine and Lexas people's safety." Bellamy jaw tightened at Lexas name. "Cage took me stripped me down body and mind..." I took a breath. "He took my memories and made me, I'm not even sure about this anymore, fall in love with him. He renamed me Anna. We... He... I didn't know what was going on. I went through another surgery and then I was suddenly outside and everything hurt and I had my..." I pet the collar on my throat. "And then I remembered and then a I was pregnant with Cages baby." My hand moved from my collar to my stomach.
"He would talk to me through my collar and he told me..." I paused. Fear gripped my heart.
"Clarke what'd he tell you?" Noah spoke softly.
"Nothing. Just..." My eyes flashed to Bellamy and I realized just how selfish I was being. He deserved to know why I left him.
"He told me that our child would be the cure to the mountian men. That out kid could end the war and save all our people... that's why I left Bellamy. I couldn't be selfish. Not with so many lives at stake."
He shook his head slowly and looked down at the ground in defeat.
"The weight of the world doesn't not rest on your shoulders Clarke. Your life is not any less valuable than anyone else's. Why do you insist on forgetting that. Why do you put me through that?!" His voice was gravely and low. Deep and savage.
"I'm sorry." I whispered. "I came back to you didn't I?" I tried to smile. He just gave me a look that said explain. "When he took me back he turned me back to Anna, until he went to tortured me. He went to make me into Clarke again but I tricked him. He traumatized Anna and when he thought he woke up Anna, he woke me up instead. I don't know what he did to me but now it's less like two separate people and more like a switch. The smallest thing can make Anna come out. I wanted to stay. I wanted to follow through and save my people, but..." I closed my eyes and felt it. "But after months being locked in that room with him. His hands all over me... whenever he wanted... having to pretend... having to love him." The memories shocked my eyes open they became too vivid too horrible.
"Oh god Clarke." Noah whispered.
Bellamy just stared at me his fisted clinched his jaw flexed I could see rage in his eyes.
"I had to get out." A tear spilled. "I had to kill someone to get out but I did it. I'm here now.
Finally Bellamy's eyes softened towards me and he slid over to where I was sitting. His presence didn't bother me. He was warm and his arms felt safe around me.
He closed his eyes and held me tight as if I'd disappear. I saw a desperate tear escape from his eyes and I tried to remember the last time I'd see him cry.
The last time I'd seen him.
