I trained again the next day with Travis. Everyone was working hard at improving, even the Aphrodite kids. The Dryads and Naiads decided they would help as well. The satyrs were sort of training as well.
Travis swung his sword at me. I parried it and swung at his chest. We went on and on. This may seem pathetic, but this week, every night, I've been sobbing. At night, dreams of struggle, war, and torture were constantly filling my head. I didn't want to sleep anymore. I don't want these dreams anymore.
"Liv, shouldn't we take a break? We've been fighting for hours."
"Sure."
He dropped his sword. I set mine against the wall and got my bow and arrow. I nocked each arrow faster than I ever have. I used targets that were set in different positions. This would help me if people were in different angles. The arrows almost went threw the targets.
"Liv?"
"Yeah?"
"Shouldn't you take a break as well?"
"Travis I-"
"Liv, you train everyday. You fought hard lately, like always. Take a break. Sit with me."
"Okay."
He opened his arms. I sat down and was wrapped in his arms. We just sat and relaxed, trying to regain our breath. My bun wasn't even recognizable as a bun. It looked more like a tangled knot. "Liv, are you alright?"
"Yeah why?"
"You seem like sleep hasn't been coming to you anymore."
"It's hard nowadays, but I'll live."
"You better. You're not dying on me."
"I promise. Do you?"
"I promise."
I smiled and leaned back. He kissed my cheek. I held his and kissed him back. We lay on the grass together, watching the clouds roll by. "Ewww."
I turned. Connor came up to us. "What's 'ewww'?" Travis teased.
"You two. So lovey-dovey."
"Too bad." I laughed.
Will came up. He sat beside us. "Hey guys!"
I smiled. "Hey."
Travis put his arm around me. Will raised his brow."Being the older brother, it is my duty to give the speech. I need to protect my little sis."
"Oh gods no." I groaned.
"Come with me young man." Will proclaimed.
"Young man? I'm only a year or two younger than you Will!"
Will ignored his comment. He gestured for Travis to follow him. Travis trudged along. Connor and I laughed as we saw Will giving his speech. I heard a voice in my head. I'm thankful for your brother. He's doing the things that I can't do.
I shook my head. Oh Dad. I got my dagger and threw it at the target. It hit the center and fell off. I grabbed more daggers and started to practice. After about a half an hour, I was out of arrows and daggers.
I sat on the grass waiting for Travis and Will to return. Connor ran off to do Apollo knows what. I was bored and alone. I started to hum a tune which ended to a full-on song.
An hour rolled by. Where are they? Could a lecture really take that long? I got up and dusted off my pants. I walked to the strawberry fields. The Demeter kids were working on them. I sat and watched them. I got bored and roamed around.
I hit a hole in the dirt and fell. I got up and saw blood on my pants. Great, a scraped knee. I stopped the bleeding, put a band-aid on, and changed my pants.
I went to look for Travis and Will. On my way to the training area, I blacked out. I dropped to my knees. I saw and image surround me. I don't know how to explain this, but it felt different. It didn't seem like it came from the gods.
I was in Camp-Halfblood. Demigods were fighting. Then, it ended. A group in purple cheered. The camp was destroyed. People were dead. This can't be happening. I started to sob into my hands.
Everyone was gone. A woman was standing in front of me. She had a smirk on her face. Her dress was made out of earth. "You see child. This is what will happen. I will win. You will lose."
"Why show me? Why do this?"
"I'm doing this for one reason only. I will wake, and your entire camp will be out of my way. As for why I am showing you, the reason is that you are different. If someone tries to change this, with every fight, battle, or wound, you will have endless amount of pain. You will be extremely ill. That way, you are out of my way. You will die, your friend will lose hope. He will stop fighting. His cabin will stop fighting. You will lose."
"Funny. Every time someone tells me I will die, I live. You're not any different."
"But you see, I have already won. Starting now."
The vision ended. Will and Travis were standing over me. "Are you ok Liv?"
"I don't-"
I screamed. Pain washed over me. I felt as if I've been burned and stabbed all over. I tossed and turned. Travis reached for me. When he touched my arm, it burned. I screamed. Tears rolled down my cheek.
Will tried to heal me. It only made it worse. I screamed louder. "Stop! Stop it!"
I sobbed. Will yelled out for help. Chiron ran over. "What happened?!"
"I don't know, but we can't touch her or heal her with magic. It causes her more pain."
My breathing was heavy. I started to swear. I felt dizzy and nauseous. I tried to stand up. Chiron handed me ambrosia. I put in my mouth but I couldn't swallow it. I felt like throwing it up. I held it in and swallowed. Instead of warm thoughts, it burned.
I fell to the floor. "I can't!"
"Liv, listen to me." Travis said. "Walk to the infirmary with me."
I stood up. I walked slowly. I breathed heavily. It felt like hours had passed when we reached the infirmary. I sat on the bed. I laid down. My back started to hurt. My bones burned, and my skin felt like it had been wounded so that it couldn't be healed. I held in a scream.
My forehead was heating up. They got a cold washcloth and placed it gently on my head. Tears streamed down like a river. I breathed in and out. Will kneeled by my bed. He prayed and sang to Apollo. Travis sat on the bed as tears rolled down his cheek.
They gave me a liquid to help me fall asleep. That was least that I wanted to do. It ended up with me having to face nightmares again.
