"Can I get you water?". Erica asked me while I buried my face into the couch. I shook my head and she sighed. "You need to drink something Larson". She placed a small, clear, glass of water next to me and walked away.

"I'm a freak". I mumbled into the cushion.

"You are chosen, not a freak". Lathious explained.

"Why are you here? Why are you with me? What am I?".

"A trouble maker". Tate laughed coming into the living room.

"I wasn't talking to you". I whispered.

"Then Who are you talking to?". He asked. I kept my comments to myself and lifted my head.

"The school, I can never go back can I?". I sighed. He paused and sat down next to me.

« People will forget. They always forget ». There was a sadness to his voice that I noticed, but I didn't say anything.

« How did she know? ». I asked him sitting up.

« Erica is...well...she knows things others don't. She's always one step ahead of everything and everyone. She's special ».

« Special indeed ». Erica smiled coming in from the kitchen. « Tate, leave us ». Tate got up and went up to our room and shut the door. « Ask away ». She set down a small tea cup she brought and crossed her legs.

« How did you know what was happening ». I asked slowly.

« I have feelings I get when things go wrong ». She said.

« What did you mean what did you see? I didn't see anything ». I lied. I couldn't just tell the woman who let me live with them know I'm a freak who has mental health issues.

"Larson, there are things in this world that just can not be explained. You of all people are starting to understand this". She's right, I was understanding it all too well. People just don't see other people who grow several feet tall  and attack you.

"Why are you so excepting of me?". I said with a tear in my eye. She smiled at me and leaned in close.

"Because I'm a freak to. I can not do what you can, but I have abilities of my own that no one else has. I understand what it's like to feel alone and rejected, but know this. There are tons of freaks in this world, we are just good at hiding in plain sight". She winked at me and left me alone in the living room.

"That woman is something else". Lathious whispered. I sighed and went up to my room. I was half and half with the situation now. I still felt like a freak, but now I know I'm not the only one.

"What's up?". Tate smirked while I entered the room.

"Just the same old stuff". I half smiled. I looked into his eyes and I instantly felt safe. There was just something about him that I couldn't put my finger on, but it intrigued me to the core.

"Boys dinner!". Erica yelled from downstairs.

"Yes! I love meat". The way Tate looked at me at the last part of his sentence made me shiver. We both walked downstairs and into the kitchen where our food was waiting for us.

"Steak and mash potatoes? What's the occasion?". I laughed. They both looked up at me with funny faces.

"What do you mean?". Erica asked.

"Well usually if there's steak it's a celebration right?". I chuckled.

"Oh your too much". Erica laughed. "Larson can you please take out the trash before you eat? The trash can is in the back yard". She smiled. I nodded and grabbed the white trash bag and headed out the door. I never saw their back yard before, but my breath was taken. Trees and shrubs lined the back yards outer layer. Everything was green and just alive. In front of me was a clear blue pool that was made into the ground with cement lining the outer layers of it.
