My feet were moving as fast as they could possibly move. My arms ached from the child in my arms who paid no attention to the creature chasing us. The girl and I ran side by side, dodging trees and logs to keep our pace.
"Over there!". She pointed to a small cave entrance just a few feet from us. The silver rock stood about four feet tall, and was just big enough so we could squeeze through. "Don't make a sound". She whispered. As we ducked on the side of the caves wall, I tried to catch my breath. We were both breathing hard, and my heart was racing like a race horse, but not because of the exercise.
Loud and ferocious foot steps approached the cave making me stop breathing all together. It huffed for a few seconds and walked away in the other direction. I quietly let out the breath I've been holding and looked over to the girl.
"What the hell is going on!". I whispered frantically. She whipped her hair towards me while still trying to catch her breath.
"You did this! Why would you bring us here!". She angrily whispered.
"Here? What is this place?". I replied. She looked up at me like I was stupid in a way that would usually boil my blood, but given the circumstances, I was not going to argue.
"You really don't know what's going on do you?". She asked. I shook my head and she looked down at her sister. "I thought you were full. Who trained you?". It looked like she was talking to her sister but I knew that wasn't the case.
"I never had a trainer for anything". I sighed. She rolled her eyes and I continued. "I know I'm different, but I just don't know what I am. Maybe a lunatic who is just having a bad trip in the back yard". My eyes fell to the cold caves floor.
"Right now you have to keep your head up. I know you don't know what's going on right now, but you are the only one who can get us back". She pleaded.
"Where are we?". My voice echoed a little bit and I slouched down. I didn't want to run into anymore monsters or whatever they were.
"Hiron. It's a place where the dead roam free. A place where no living thing can pass through, a cold, dark, never ending hell". My heart stopped racing so much but my anxiety was through the roof.
"Lathious?". I whispered. No answer. I know what this place was, I just didn't know the concept and anatomy of it. I went here earlier today in the school. How everything was damp, ruined, smashed, and that woman. Lathious said I couldn't cross over to here with him, so my guess is that's where I am.
"Who?". She asked.
"Nothing". I sighed. We both looked at her little sister who looked even weaker. "She doesn't have much time left does she?".
"No". She replied while caressing her face. What am I supposed to do? She said I have to heal her, but I do the exact opposite! I just don't know how to do anything anymore.
"I'm sorry". I mumbled. The girl slowly put her head down on the little girl and cried. To see her cry like that, made me feel uneasy. I just met this girl but I feel as if I must protect her at all costs, but why? I lifted my hands over the small girls wound once again. I was not going to fail this time!
"What are you doing? Stop! Look what you did last time!". She pulled at my arm but I wasn't budging. My head is relaxed, my heart is relaxed, my veins are relaxed. I took deep breaths and hovered my hands over the wound closer than before. A small, tiny blue light began to seep from my hands. It was warm, and almost welcoming. The little girl started to move around a little, while the light got a little brighter.
My veins were flowing with this light, but I still kept my eyes shut, I could just feel it. I could feel the little girls body in me actually, I know it sounds weird but it's true. I felt her pain melting away, her wound starting to close cell by cell, her skin warming back up again. Happiness spread across my heart, and hers as well. It was like we connected, and we were just one person. The light vanished, and the little girl sat up.
