My phone buzzed over and over again in my hand while I was sitting in the back of a taxi. Anna and Tate were both texting and calling me non stop trying to look for me.
Where are you?!? Why did you leave the hospital?! -Tate
I'm so so sorry Larson. I've never been so sorry in my entire life. I didn't want to ignore you it was just too much...where are you? Call me! -Anna
"You seem troubled". The man driving said while looking in the rear mirror.
"Just some drama I don't want to be apart of". I sighed.
"I understand. My daughter left a few months ago and it really broke my heart. But like you, she had so much drama I was unable to keep up with it, so I let her go".
"You let your daughter just leave?". I asked.
"What else could I have done?". He replied.
"Not abandon your child". I mumbled.
"I did not abandon her. Yes I may have let her go to go experience the world, but at the end of the day there's always a place in my heart for her. Whenever she needs or wants it, my love for her will never die". He smiled. Unfortunately I know that all too well. We pulled up to my home and he parked. "That will be $20". He asked.
"Of coarse". I pulled out a twenty and handed to him. I thanked him and he drove away leaving me in the cold dark night. Leslie went back into the hospital to grab my things before we parted, because I couldn't necessarily be seen. Crickets chirped all around me and fire flies buzzed around the night. It was humid making my forehead break out in a small sweat. A white light flickered from the living room window which I'm guessing is from the tv. "Here we go". I whispered.
"Trust in your instincts, not your judgment". Lathious said. Well isn't that the same thing? This dude is seriously on crack sometimes. I walked up to the porch and it squeaked beneath my feet. I stood in front of the door and turned the knob to walk in the house of hell.
"Who the hell- is that?". My father slurred stumbling up from the couch. Like usual, bottles fell to the floor and my mother came out from around the corner, wrapping herself in a white robe.
"Larson sweetie? What are you doing here?". She asked confused. She had bags under her eyes and seemed completely exhausted. But she was still my beautiful mother as always. I wanted to say something but nothing would come out of my mouth. It was like I was paralyzed with fear. My father stood up and stumbled a bit before meeting my eyes.
"Finally come back for round two? It's funny, your mother can't get enough of it too". He tilted his head back and laughed and I saw my mother wrap her robe around herself tighter. Anger screamed through my veins and I let it this time.
"You're pathetic". I whispered clinching my fists". He stopped laughing and took a step forward.
"What the hell did you just say to me?". He warned. He stumbled up to me and stopped till he was in my face. I could smell the god awful smell of vomit and alcohol on his breath.
"I said you are a pathetic piece of shit who has to rape people just to get your dick wet". I smirked. He slapped me in the face hard, but I tilted my head right back up at him. "You have to beat your wife just to keep her around". He smacked me again and I took a step forward towards him. "You have to drown your sorrows in booze because you can't be a man and face your own problems". This time he started to take steps back and I did forward. "And I will never, ever! Be known as apart of your family again". I gripped his shirt and threw him across the room as hard as I could. He crashed into the wall leaving a huge indent in the plaster. I bent down to get on his level and whispered in his ear. "You will never touch either of us again".
