"Wanna know something funny?". I asked Lathious."What's that".
"I did the same thing to my father that he did to me without even realizing it. Shoving the glass into his stomach? It was just my natural instinct really".
"There are no coincidences Larson. Everything happens for a reason".
Last night, I killed a man. That was not my intention, but it was how the cards were folded on the table. There is only one person in this world who knows what I've done and that's my mother, but she doesn't seem like she really cares. Hell she even seems kinda glad that monster is gone. After the fire department put our house out, Anna came out to our pile of ashes and took us back to her home. It was a long and painful conversation with her trying to explain what really happened. The fire was ruled as an accident. Richard Mack, lit a match to smoke a cigarette and the match fell in the curtains making the fire begin. That's what the reports say anyways.
One thing that still doesn't make sense to me is how quickly the flames started. Yes the curtains caught but the rest of the house was in flames within minutes, it shouldn't be like that should it? I let my head bang against the cold window as rain pored down the side of it. Anna finally took out her earbuds and poked my shoulder so I would talk to her but it was hard to hear over all the noise on the bus.
"Are we gonna talk about what happened at the mall?". She asked folding her headphones back in her purse.
"What's there to talk about?". I mumbled.
"Let's start with the fact that a giant monster chased us and some girl who you clearly like was there but no one else was?". I shot my eyes up at her but quickly let them fade. I had no energy to do anything but just agree and go on with whatever was basically going on.
"It wasn't a monster. The only monsters that exist are people". I replied. She tilted her head like she didn't understand but she didn't reply. "Okay look. I don't really know what I am. I just know I can sometimes go to this place that's bad. It's the home of the demons and who's ever around me when I do travel there, they go with me. And that girl, well she's just complicated". After all the Information I just told her she didn't run for the hills, call me a liar, or even crazy. The only thing she seemed truly interested in was the girl.
"What's her name?". She smiled.
"Doesn't matter". I whispered.
"What's wrong with you?". She asked.
"I have to do something today that I don't like. I just don't want to do anything right now I just want to sleep". But I was never that lucky. We pulled up to the school and we all got off of the bus and went inside the school. Hell the last time I was here people died and I had a freak show for my classmates. What a time to be alive folks.
"Larson, I think you have a stalker". Anna said while coming up to me. I stopped at my locker and turned my head down the hallway as I opened it. Tate was standing there with his hands in his pockets. Even after everything I knew or thought I knew. My heart will still forever race when I see his face. "Oh. My. God". Anna gasped.
"What". I said breaking eye contact.
"You love two people". I snapped my head up at her with energy I didn't even know I had and glared at her.
"Excuse me?". I warned.
"Well I see the way you look at him, and I saw the way you looked at her. Larson I'm not blind". She smiled. My eye started twitching and the screws inside my locker were starting to shake and come undone.
